Issues Addressed with ERDAS Desktop 2013 Version 13.00.0002 (Service Pack 2)

1

ERDAS Desktop 2013 Version 13.00.0002 (Service Pack 2) provides improvements to the ERDAS Desktop 2013 products (ERDAS IMAGINE, LPS and ERDAS ER

Mapper), and requires ERDAS Desktop 2013 products to be installed before this version can be installed. It is cumulative of previous Service Packs, so you do not

require Service Pack 1 to be installed, but if Service Pack 1 is installed Service Pack 2 will install over the top.

The improvements include:

ERDAS IMAGINE, LPS 2013 and ERDAS ER Mapper Version 13.00.0002

The following ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 Issues have been addressed by this Service Pack:

CR # Component Summary Description / How to Reproduce

1-7AS5EZ MosaicPro Images not displayed in Image Dodging viewer

1. Add 4 images to MosaicPro 2. Open color corrections and click the set button for image dodging and note that one of the four images shows up in the mosaic image dodging viewer 3. Close this viewer 4. Now in the mosaic viewer check the visible for all the images and then turn on the images 5. Open color corrections and click the set button for image dodging and note that one of the four images does not show up in the mosaic image dodging viewer but you get the pyramid images

1-7EMHZ9 MosaicPro After dodging stats computation mosaic doesn't run

Use default dodging settings to reproduce. Note: This situation was happening when an entire image was within the exclusion area. Dodging stats computation would throw an error message and Mosaic would not start.

1-7GSQ83 MosaicPro Exclusion areas don't apply

1- From color corrections select exclude areas 2- apply exclusion areas to all images 3- Select dodging, set pyramid level to 1:1, set skip factor to 1 for both X and Y 4- Run mosaic, exclusion areas will not apply. 5- For comparison run another mosaic without exclusion areas, the result is identical.

1-78HJ6F MosaicPro One pixel gap in MosaicPro output

In some circumstances gaps could be left when mosaicing butt-joining imagery.

1-79K7XR MosaicPro Compute Active Area by Edge does not work on some images

Compute active area by edge fails on specific images. An error dialog shows up saying "Image boundary edge search failed. Please try some other methods to define the active area."

1-79K7VR MosaicPro Compute Active Area generates incorrect result

The active area generated using By Corner method on image is not correct. The lower right corner is wrong.

1-7K3GAI MosaicPro MosaicPro 2013 “Compute Active Area by Corner” is not working with Rapideye 3A TIFF images

MosaicPro 2013 “Compute Active Area by Corner” is not working with Rapideye 3A TIFF images. In order to duplicate the problem, add the Rapideye 3A image into MosaicPro with “Compute Active Area by Corner” option. You will see the entire image area in the MosaicPro canvas, not the active area of the image.

1-72EJIT MosaicPro Mosaicing some large blocks of images could result in the data having a white strip on the right side when zoomed out to x25

1. Make copy of input imagery 2. Open MosaicPro and add all the images 3. Process the mosaic to an IMG file 4. Open the mosaic img 5. Zoom out 25 times and note a white strip appears on the right side, the one on the left side is ok because that is no data values. This file has a natural vertical white strip on the lower left side of the data. This is a result of another software vendor's no-data value of 255 being used when the image tiles were created, and passed onto the mosaic. When you zoom out far enough, you see the natural white strip on the lower left (as you should), and another white strip on the lower right, which does not belong (nor is in higher resolution rrds).

1-72MU4U MosaicPro Drawing holes is not working properly in a specific scenario in MosaicPro

1. Open MosaicPro and add data with multiple overlaps 2. Do not turn on any seamlines 3. Display all images in the MosaicPro viewer 4. Now draw a hole in one of the images where all three data sets overlap. 5. Note that a hole is not created but if you draw another hole in the area where there is no overlap it works properly

1-724A17 MosaicPro Automatically calculate the low pass filter when user press "preview" button in illumination Equalization

Customer doesn't want MosaicPro to popup a dialog after you click "preview" button, they want MosaicPro to directly calculate the low pass filter.

1-6Z1WSW Raster Analysis Subset IMG to ECW using DirectWrite in Modeler writes a dumpfile

Subset uses Spatial Modeler (Legacy). This enhancement improves the writing performance of Spatial Modeler (Legacy) direct write when the output block size is 64. All the Raster Analysis tools that use Spatial Modeler (Legacy) and speed up when using direct write. In most cases, the temporary file (dumpfile) is no longer created.

1-7ARZRR Raster Analysis Missing "IHS" option in "Wallis Adaptive Filter"

"IHS" option is missing from "Wallis Adaptive Filter" in ERDAS IMAGINE 2013.

1-6ZNJ9Z 2D View Frame Camera calibrated IMG displays far slower in 2013 than 11.0.5

Ortho-calibrated datasets that use a frame-type sensor model displayed slower in the initial release of ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 than they did in ERDAS IMAGINE 2011 v11.0.5

1-6SNUK9 Data Exchange NITF DLL is slowing down NITF w/JP2 performance

In ERDAS IMAGINE and LPS 2013, the NITF dll wrapper appears to be slowing down the reading of NITF images. Ensure that the NITF dll is thread-safe and well threaded so that it can use the asynchronous raster data server efficiently.

2D View While correcting an alert problem for an image file, an error message ‘Push of null name invalid’ could sometimes pops-up

1. Open an IMG file in ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 that had rrds, but the rrds are not associated with the image. These may be in a folder which does not contain the associated rrds.

2. ERDAS IMAGINE asks for pyramid creation. 3. Click yes. 4. After the process is complete, dismiss dialog. 5. In the Table of Contents pane, right click on the file name and select correct alert problem. 6. Process list opens and closes. 7. An error message pops-up, ‘Push of null name invalid’. 8. Click OK to all and dismiss the dialog. 9. Fit to frame and try 1: 1 display. 10. At this stage if you remove the file from viewer and reload it, this error message would not

re-appear.

1-72OS1T 2D View Opening floating point file with "&" in name crashes 2D View

1. Using ERDAS IMAGINE 11.0.5, run NDVI on lanier.img (from the example data), putting a "&" in the output file name.

2. Open the file in 11.0.5 2D view. Everything is fine. 3. Now try to open it in the ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 2D view. ERDAS IMAGINE crashes. 4. Rename the file, taking the "&" out. 5. No you can open the file.

1-74726F 2D View Image sometimes could not be displayed in the Viewer again after deleting the Map Model while the image was displayed.

1. Select geometrically calibrated image and load into a 2D View 2. Start Metadata. 3. Edit -> Delete Map Model. 4. Clear View. 5. Reload the same image into the Viewer. 6. Notice that it is completely black, though Pixel Data in Metadata shows some data.

1-70JUD0 Data Exchange Remove incorrect MrSID session log error where the computer does not have GPU support

1. Start ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 2. Run Export MrSID Data in Manage Data tab 3. Error Message appears in Session Log, “Could not load DLL OpenCL.dll: The module was not found.”

1-6HOEZP Data Exchange Use Shapefile as input for Create ECW Transparency and Export ECW

Customer needs to automate the process for generating ECW Transparency. In ERDAS IMAGINE 2013, the requirement that the input vector format be an AOI hinders automation. In v13.00.0002, the customer can now use a Shapefile in addition to an AOI in the 'Create ECW Transparency' and ‘Export ECW.’

1-7FPGET Data Exchange ECW Export & DirectWrite not using ECW Encode Cache Preference

The input image is a IMG file of 500,000 x 500,000 x 3-bands x 8-bits with full stats and rrds. Customer raised the encoding cache preference from the default to 1536, and got an instant failure (indicates not enough encode cache). Also tried the direct write in exporter, and it failed the same way. Tried using JP2 set to the max encoding cache, and the file started off and did its job just fine.

1-6VSKMY & 1-6VUJNL

Data Exchange Images with incomplete CRS not converted to JP2 correctly using Direct Write

1) Start export under Manage Data tab 2) change format to JPEG 2000 (Direct write) 3) load img file and output using default settings 4) check output file metadata data and compare with original one, projection is not correct.

1-6XFMF3 Data Exchange ECWs created in ER Mapper 7.1 & 7.2 are not subsetting in more recent versions of ERDAS IMAGINE and ERDAS ER Mapper

We have customers that have transferred from ER Mapper/Image Compressor 7.1 and 7.2 and have begun using v.2011. Although the ECWs will open and display correctly, when attempting to subset, dice or save to ECW - the subset progress dialog freezes and does not complete. 1. Open ECW in ERDAS IMAGINE 2011 v11.0.5 2. Right Click in Viewer 3. Open Inquire Box and fit to desired rectangle size for subset 4. Go to the Manage Data Tab and select Subset Image 5. Select ECW as Input Image 6. Select ‘From Inquire Box’ 7. Click OK to begin subset. Image will not subset. Same issue when attempting to dice image.

1-77WD9D Data Exchange ECW v3 >8-bit Export output is wrong when input image has no stats

In ERDAS IMAGINE 2013, when creating an ECW v3 image from an image with a data type >8-bit, the created image is not correct when the input image does not have statistics. 1. Go to Manage Data and Export ECW 2. Select an input image of >8-bit without statistics (e.g. a TIFF without an AUX file) 3. Selected output name and click OK 4. Select ECW v3 file format and clock OK 5. After process is complete, the created image is not correct.

1-79XL64 Data Exchange TIFF DLL not handling QuickStats Correctly

1. Display a TIFF without statistics in the 2D Viewer, and quick-stats are calculated 2. Remove the image from the 2D Viewer. 3. Re-display the TIFF in the 2D Viewer, and quick-stats are recalculated. The correct action is for all statistics to be persisted when calculated.

1-7DLAA5 Data Exchange JP2 export and direct write fails to create data when the data are large

In ERDAS IMAGINE 2013, the software was not reading the JP2 Encoding Preference correctly. All input files greater than 350,000 pixels wide fail. In v11.00.0002, the default preference of 1526MB allows a JP2 of 1,050,000 pixels to be created. This is as wide a JP2 as a customer with a 32-bit application running on a 64-bit OS can expect. A customer with a 32-bit OS can expect a less wide JP2 image to be successful.

1-6J5R9Z Data Exchange .ers files not being displayed in IMAGINE correctly & displaying Metadata causes crash

Customer created .ers files from TIFF imagery and tried to display in ERDAS IMAGINE 2013. Recreate by: 1. Open TIFF in ERDAS IMAGINE 2. Open TIFF in ERDAS ER Mapper and did a Save As to .ers file. Message notes it is created correctly. 3. Open .ers in ERM, it opens correctly. 4. Open .ers in ERDAS IMAGINE and build pyramids, ERDAS IMAGINE crashes.

Batch incorrectly re-variabalizes Spatial Modeler command line

How to Duplicate: 1. Open a gmdx (pick one from /etc/models) Run in Batch 2. The command line is automatically variablized for you - normally you need to do nothing else 3. Now change the "Variables" popup list to "One or more inputs, one output" 4. Batch incorrectly sets the name of the temp file which contains the model to $Input1, and puts the

temp file name in the cellarray as the filename. 5. All the other variables Input2, Ouput1, etc. are still shown in the command line, but have been

removed from the Variables cellarray, and are not there if you start the Variable editor. 6. Resetting the Variables popup to "Original Commands" restores the temp file name to the

command line, but the variables created by Spatial Modeler are not restored.

1-6MWQC3 Data Exchange Cannot export to ECW for Large Rasters

Customer has large raster files they wish to ECW encode on a 64-bit operating system. The ECW Image Files Encoding Cache Preference can now be set above 1536MB. The maximum is not 3072MB. This setting should only be used on 64-bit operating systems. 32-bit operating systems limit the cache to 1536MB. This is an operating system limitation.

Data Exchange Exporting to ECW causes slight shift in data1-6VSKMY

Compression of ECW had an error in the Export ECW implementation. The DirectWrite implementations did not have this error. The error presented as what seemed as somewhat random shift in pixel location when zoomed in. This could be seen with any high resolution images exported.

1-6VSKMY Data Exchange Images w/ incomplete CRS not converted to JP2 correctly using Direct Write

Images with an incomplete coordinate reference system (CRS) definition are not converted into correct CRS inside JP2 files. This was because GeoTIFF and GML specifications used in JP2 have a conflict that needed to be resolved. To duplicate, the customer need only define an image with map coordinates only without projection information (Cartesian Coordinate system), and the output JP2 would not reflect the map coordinates correctly.

1-7E5253 Data Exchange Imagine crashes trying to open a malformed JP2-encoded NITF file

Malformed JP2 images are not handed cleanly in ERDAS IMAGINE 2013. They were handled better in ERDAS IMAGINE 11.0.5. The ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK v5.0 now used in ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 was modified to better manage malformed JP2 images. The new error messages from the ECW/JP2 SDK were not being handled correctly by ERDAS IMAGINE. In v13.00.0002, when the customer displays a malformed JP2 image, or a NITF image with a JP2 image inside, the image will be placed in the viewer and a message stating, “The JP2 image is corrupted or malformed and cannot be correctly decoded” is sent to the Session Log. The image cannot be used and must be replaced by the customer.

Points in the last column & row lost when converting DEM to anything other formats.

When using TPT to convert any raster terrain the number of points in the output is less than the number of input points. The number of points in a raster terrain is equal to the number of rows multiplied by the number of columns. After conversion the number of output points should agree with this number but is in fact (number of rows - 1) multiplied by (number of columns - 1). This can be reproduced by using any image as the input and any output format. It's easiest to use XYZ ASCII as the output so you can count the number of rows and compare with the image row and columns.
