A lot of my research was online based. I looked at the ‘Boris Bikes’ for inspirtation. I also research typographic wayfinding and signaage. This included the New York subway and the London underground. I also research Restrap and The North Race, two cycling organisations

ISTD Development

For the development of the brief, I changed a lot of the designs. I initially was going to use an image of google maps in the map view of the app but decided to draw my own. I changed the app design three times until I was totally happy with it. This included the icons and the colour scheme.

I tried out a few different processes during the brief. I used digital print, screen print and laser cut. I screen printed two posters and created a keyring to promote National Bike Week.

ISTD Websites

These are the final mock ups for my website. I wanted to keep the design simple and uncluttered throughout. The pages include a homepage, a page about National Bike Week, a page about Leeds and a store where people can buy Leeds City Cycling and National Bike Week merchandise. There is also a page that properly explains the app.

This easy to use app comes with a smart facility that enables you the cyclist to check into parts of the city to ensure you are on the right route. Simply choose a destination and enable the Checkpoint facility.

The first step to using the app is to choose your activity. There is also the option to manually Enter Location, if you have a street name or postcode readily available. The app offers a choice of locations. The app also gives you a rating of the activity you choose.

Leeds City Cycling is a mobile phone app that helps you get around the city quickly and economically. The 69p app connects with Wifi around the city to make sure you get to your destination on time and safely. The app allows you to explore the city for yourself and cater your journey to your needs!
