A small kindness It happened ten years ago, when I was 10 years old. It was a winter day and I was getting back from school. It was a terrible cold outside. At a moment, I took off my gloves from my pocket and I didn't noticed that my keys fell in the snow. Only when I got home I discovered that I lost the keys. I returned to look for them. Nevertheless, I didn’t find nothing because everything was covered with snow. I returned home frozen and hungry. I had no power even to cry. I sat myself on the doorstep and was expecting my parents to return from work. Our neighbour, a woman of about 35 years old just was returning home when he saw me standing in the doorway more dead than alive. After I told her what happened, she took me to her home, fed me, made me hot tea lest to caught a cold and offered me to stay at her until my parents would return. I discovered that day that she had a child, but unfortunately, he died. She allowed me to play with his toys and she gave me even a teddy bear. She was very kind to me giving me shelter and affection as if I were her own child. Finally came my parents. My parents began to panic because outside was already dark and I wasn’t at home. They called all the relatives who lived nearby, but nobody knew nothing. At a certain time, they thought that I was kidnapped and intended to call the police. But in the same minute the phone rang, it was the neighbor who wanted to announce them that I was at her.
