    FIGURING OUT OF THE MOON

space research is also moving into larger-scale simulationsusing powerful computers . in fact given the high cost , andoften the impracticability of conducting live experiments

Moons magnetic field is very feeble when compared to thatof the earth.

The obvious conclusion is that the moon does not have afluid core like what the earth has, but has localized magnetic

    sources .

The machine at NASA Goddard ran a flavor of Unix. Thesoftware was developed for modeling the earths interior, buthas also been applied to mars and the moon.

    THE INTERNET ON MARS

v Internet to the space comes from the need for a low cast andhigh reliability inter planetary network.

v Probes were sent into the space, with a unique set ofprotocols to communicate with the earth.

v The inter planetary network(IPN),a part of jet PropulsionLaboratory(JPL),is managing this program.

v These gateways will work on a bundle based protocol, which will reside over the transport layer to carry data fromone gateway to another.

v At at the moment a bundle protocol will be needed becausethe data will need to travel huge distances, and sendingsmall packets of data may not be feasible. Instead, this datawill be collected and sent in a bundle, as a big burst of data,to the next gateway.

    SATELLITE TRACKING

The first artificial earth satellite was launched by theUSSR, in october 1957 called as Spuntic.

Satellite telemetry is measuring the conditions in theatmosphere and oceans from outer space using artificialsatellites, and monitoring the performance andcondition of rockets, spacecraft and satellites that sendinformation about their own performance, flight path andother data to earth.

This processing has to be done in real time using realtime systems . this means developing high performanceand robust systems that will work in extreme conditionsand constraints of space, weight and power in satellites.

A basic telemetry system consists of smeasuring instrument, transmitter and receivingstation.

Hence measurements can be made at remote

or inaccessible spots, and the data collected istransmitted equipment for monitoring, displayrecording and analysis,On the ground, thereceiving station receives the signals transmitted

by the satellite, which are then sent forprocessing

The communication system uses TCP/IPprotocol for data transfer between computers onthe ground station networks.

    HUBBLE CONTROL SYSTEMS

The hubble space telescope(HST) is a large opticaltelescope. It orbits the earth and takes detailed pictures ofstars, galaxies and solar-system objects.

The main elements of the system are the computer supportsystem module and the advanced tracking and data relaysatellite(TDRS)series. The computer support system modulecontains devices and systems needed to operate the hubbletelescope.

The ccs is used to handle communication between hubbleand the ground stations for spacecraft commanding andhealth and safety analysis. The architecture for this is atypical secure network. The data sent from telescope isanalyzed using the STADAS,which is powerful set of toolsthat support software used to calibrate and analyze data.

    CONTROLLING SPACECRAFT

    SHUTTLE

Data processing systems consist of five general purposecomputers mass storage.

The older GPCs had non volatile memory ,but with the AP 101s the

shuttle computers moved to volatile memory with battery backup. Each of the GPCs consists of a central processor. Unit and aninput /output processor.the first four systems comprisethePASS[primary avionics software system] .

VHM system will be used to detect troubleshoot and resolvehardware problems during and after fight

The shuttle control software has some 420,000 lines of code.the

software is subject to countless hours of verification andtesting.yet, there are flaws.

. the shuttle software creation were IBM Federale systems andLockheed Martin. When information and voice is scrambled forsecurity so there is a computer onboard to decrypt this data so thatthe astronauts can read it or herd the voice from mission control .

    PATH FINDER

q The path finder mission was conceptualized in 1992.

q The path finder mission was a technological first, indemonstrating a low cost landing mechanism by the meansof parachutes and airbags as suspension.

q The payload also included an alpha proton X rayspectrometer to anlyze the elemental composition of the

soil on mars, to act like an on- site goeligist.q The communication between the lander and the rover is

not exactly rocket science. The protocol using a simpleacknowledge/negative acknowledge algorithm

    CONCLUSION:

There is a major development in IT,when compared with the oldendays.

The vast change has brought thetechnology to impliment in the

field of space,as a result todayman is able to reach the moon andother planets.

Modern techniques have beenintroduced, which are handled in aproper way.And this science mustresult in a goodwill and should

    avoid from causing destruction.
