My thanks to Ms Hammond for relieving as Principal during Term 3, and to Mr Loxley and Mr O’Neill for relieving as Deputy Principals. HSC examinations commence this week, and we wish all of our students good luck. Congratulations to Nekaya Carpenter, Reid Truffet & Mikayla Ter Meulen (Yr 12) for being recognised at the Shoalhaven Aboriginal Graduation dinner held Monday 9 October 2017. Mr Loxley, Mr Ryan and I were very proud to attend the dinner and acknowlegde this wonderful achievement. Congratulations to Alannah Aldous, Sam Quigley, Paris Rodriguez, Rachel Johnstone, Brooke McPherson, Olivia McKibbin, Ella Wilson and Jade Clark. These students competed at Worrigee Equestrian Common Interschools equestrian event 30 Sept - 2 Oct 2017. NHS hosted a 40th reunion on Saturday 7 October at the school. Past students from 1977 returned to school to visit their old stomping ground. They mixed with current students and staff to share stories and compare the differences to today's schooling. Thank you to the students who volunteered on the day: Lorcan Edwards-Villalta, Lucia Edwards-Villalta, Shamssy Elrihawi, Grace Wallace-Mitchell, Brin McKinnon and Cara Haupt. Congratulations to the students who have chosen Community Service for sport this year and volunteered to participate in the GenConnect program – these students were celebrated at a recent presentation last term at the town library. The program sees students helping elderly community members understand their mobile devices. Well done to Jasmin Drury, Polly Hartshorne, Oscar Moysey, Matt Nash, Elizabeth Smith, Gemma Thompson, Starr Casson, Kwanatee Morey-Hype, Jaymie Purcell, Olivia DeStrang, Ronnie Burt-Leonard, Morgan Suljic, Josie Cousins, Maddy Gilkes and Mikaela Sims. Last week we welcomed our new canteen operators to Nowra High. Students and staff are enjoying the new menu, with lots of healthy options. EFTPOS is also now available at the canteen. The Deputy Principals and our Community Liaison Officer Mrs Ballico have been checking student uniform this week. I remind all families that students are expected to be in full school uniform each day. I hope you can encourage your child to take pride in themselves and their school by being in uniform, and on time to school. Have a great week.
