Virtual Reality (VR) Mobile Crane Simulator
Overhauling Mobile Crane Simulation with VR
ITI is very excited to be bringing our customers a new generation of simulation for crane and rigging activities. The new approach focuses to deliver on three main factors:
1. The user experience of VR Simulation is an incredible improvement over legacy simulator systems.
2. The pricing method for ITI VR is based on actual student consumption and not on up-front hardware costs.
3. ITI VR aims to maximize student access and utilization through low cots and mobile hardware.

2016 - Year in ReviewRegulation Updates
Regulatory Updates• March 2016 – The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
publishes final rule that updates requirements for PPE for workers in general
industry, shipyards, longshoring, marine terminals and construction.
• September 2016 – ASME publishes update to B30.7 (Winches) Standard.
• October 2016 – National Commission for the Certification of Crane
Operators (NCCCO) discontinues use of its Physical Examination Form and
Physician’s Instructions. The NCCCO Board of Directors concluded that,
while the form has been voluntary for many years, it deviates from the ASME
B30 Physical Requirements in a number of ways.
• October 2016 – OSHA proposes rule to improve provisions in its standards
that may be confusing, outdated, or unnecessary. The proposed changes
would effect OSHA’s recordkeeping, general industry, maritime, and
construction standards. Update – deadline for comments on proposed rule
pushed from Dec. 5, 2016 to Jan. 4, 2017.
• *The entire industry continues to prepare for November 10, 2017. The
deadline for employers to ensure that crane operators are certified,
which was pushed back in 2014, to 2017. (29 CFR Part 1926 – Cranes
and Derricks in Construction; Final Rule)

Looking AheadTeam ITI
2016 saw two ITI Senior Instructors hang up their hard hats for the last time. • Bob Schumacher (10 year ITI Instructor) retired as a full
time instructor in June 2016. Bob is still a member of the ITI family in a consultative capacity.
• Devon Beasley (30 year ITI Instructor) will retire effective December 31, 2016. Devon, along with ITI co-founder Mike Parnell, were the original ITI Trainers.
As sad as it is to say goodbye, welcoming new teammates on board is a pretty great feeling. Look for a major announcement on this front before the end of 2016…
