KVIC said in a statement that the decision to create job opportunities on a mission mode in Arunachal Pradesh was taken after high-level meetings with the state's Governor B D Mishra, Minister of Agriculture Tage Taki and Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar. "Being located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Chullyu has the potential of producing premium quality honey. The Khadi spinning and weaving centre will fulfil the needs of the local and also generate sustainable source of income at their doorsteps. "The khadi centre will start with 25 'charkhas' (spinning wheels) and five looms, which will provide direct employment to 35 women," KVIC Chairman V K Saxena said. He also said bee-keeping activities in the village will start by providing 200 bee-boxes to 20 farmers after training. According to the statement, Saxena said during his visit to the village, "Aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KVIC seeks to reach out and empower those regions of the country which have never been approached before by earlier governments. "It is our endeavour to bring an actual change in the country by reviving the rural talents and giving rural citizens an equal opportunity." Highlighting the untapped potential and a planned development of the region Saxena said the residents of Chullyu usually purchase their 'khadi' fabric from Assam, as there is no production unit in the state. According to the statement, one of the residents of the village appreciated KVIC's initiative and said, "This is the first time ever that an organization has come as a saviour for us. The holistic development being provided by KVIC will go a long way in helping Chullyu.” Picanol to exhibit at ITME Africa 2020 By Our Staff Reporter MUMBAI, FEB. 10— Picanol will be participating in the ITME Africa 2020 textile machinery exhibition which will take place from February 14-16, 2020. The aim behind ITME Africa 2020 is for this event to become the focal point and catalyst for economic growth, employment generation, and technology upgrading – not only in Ethiopia, but also in many other African countries. With a population of over 100 million, 93% of whom are aged under 55, Ethiopia has recorded impressive average annual growth figures of 11% over the last 12 years. The country is home to the most cost-effective, environmentally-friendly hydroelectric power supplies in the world, it features very competitive labor costs, and it offers huge potential for organic cotton cultivation. Last but not least, Ethiopia has free trade agreements with both the EU and US. This explains why the country is increasingly attracting the attention of the textile world. Upgrading the textile Industry in these new industrial countries certainly needs special attention, not only to determine the right technology but also by providing all services around: such as consultancy during the project study, the installation itself, the training at all levels. Having all these products, services and specific expertise, Picanol is very well positioned to further support the industrial development in Ethiopia and the African market and to “grow together” with its customers. RCGD has delivered its noteworthyOscars red carpet design initiative with the Annual Academy Awardsfor over a decade, dressing ambassadors such as Naomie Harris,Emma Roberts and Lakeith Stanfield in sustainable formal wear.

“When we started the Red Carpet Green Dress journey 10years ago, the hunt for textiles was both challenging and a causefor reflection,” shares Suzy Amis Cameron, Founder of RCGD.“Sustainable fabrics were just not easy to find, and even withdedicated resources, finding the right fabric for an Oscars worthygown nearly proved impossible. Fast forward 10 years andsustainable fashion has become the mainstay we always knew itwould.”

RCGD has collaborated with some of the top fashion brandsfrom around the world including Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood,Reformation and Armani, and has delivered global student-focusedprograms with fashion colleges including ESMOD Paris since 2009.RCGD will now take its work beyond the red carpet to create anindustry movement with its partnership with TENCEL Luxe. In a world whereclothing represents more than 60% of the total textiles used globally, this launch has the potential to create significant positive change.

TENCEL Luxe branded filament yarns are of 100% botanicorigin and are produced using a renewable wood source. Madespecifically for the high-fashion sector, the yarns will come in avariety of weights with varying mixes of the revolutionary TENCELLuxe yarn, including a luxury textile derived exclusively from thefilament yarn, a lush silk blend, and a rich cashmere fusion.

Under the leadership of the new CEO of RCGD, Samata, thetextiles will be milled in Asia and available worldwide later thisyear to emerging and established designers. “Only a tiny percentageof the leading fashion brands are capable of tracking their garmentsback to the fiber origin, and with our TENCEL Luxe collaborationwe plan to be part of the movement to make this the norm,” sharesSamata. “We are excited to be part of providing a solution for theglobal fashion industry market.”
