(R744). So it is eco-friendly and no collection is needed on disposal. You can make an appeal for a more eco-conscious facility.

Do you want to reduce initial cost?Reuse existing water heater equipment if available. Combine cost-eff ective storage tanks or other water heat-ers available.

The standard model for the ITOMIC Industrial-use Eco-cute consist of one heat pump unit, one 3,000 liter storage tank unit, and one remote control. However, depending on the hot-water supply conditions of the facility, customization and combinations with other water heater sys-tems are available. Here are the some tips for selecting the best products.

System composition examples

This is a standard system composed of an Eco-cute heat pump unit and a storage tank unit only. When a large volume of hot water is required, multiple units of Eco-cute are connected in parallel or installed in each hot-water supply area.

When multiple units of Eco-cute are installed, an op-tional control function for multiple units can be built if desired. (→See P.11 "Change in specifi cations")

Circulated hot water system with EILThe heat-up circulation specifi cation does not need an EIL. Circulated water (return) comes into the Eco-cute.

Because variation of demand occurs from season to season and/or weekdays, Eco-cute alone may not be able to supply necessary quantity. If that is the case, we recommend this system to cover the defi ciency, where Eco-cute as primary supplier and boilers to supplement.In addition, adding an Eco-cute system into an exist-ing water heater system can lower the operating cost of the entire system.

We have various types of electric water heaters from table-top ▶to heavy volume applications. Therefore, all water heaters in a facility can be prepared at the same time.

NIPPON EXPRESS CO., LTD.Our Shinagawa Trunk Room off ers cutting-edge storage rooms featuring base-isolation construction and perfect air conditioning. Temperature and humidity are fully con-trolled to secure customers’ valuable belongings. We focus on environmental conservation efforts, including employment of eco-packing materials and support the encouragement campaign of the Team-6 % Committee, ”1 person, 1 day, 1 kg of CO2 emissions reduction." As part of this activity, we installed eco-friendly and small CO2 emitting ITOMIC Eco-cute in the Shinagawa Trunk Room. The Asahi shimbun CompanyFrom an environmental viewpoint, and in a position to co-operate with reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, we decided to switch from the existing steam boiler to the electric ITOMIC Eco-cute and thus executed the renova-tions. Kubota Corporation Keiyo FactoryThe welfare building of our institute had used LPG as a water heater fuel for the bathrooms and lavatories for a long time. However, the Rationalization in Energy Use Law imposed CO2 emission reductions, which forced us to switch to water heater equipment that could ef-fectively and immediately reduce CO2 emissions. During renovation, we installed ITOMIC Eco-cute, which was re-portedly more eff ective in reducing CO2 emissions than other water heater equipment. And now, two years after installation, the remarkable advantage that we obtained by having selected Eco-cute appears in annual CO2 re-duction reports. Ajigaura Hot Spring NOZOMIThe installation of two ITOMIC Eco-cute was triggered by a proposal from Tokyo Electric Power Company, Iba-raki Branch, including equipment maintenance and the reduction in running cost, about five years after open-ing the facility. The plan and the actual operation are as follows: on weekdays Eco-cute heats water until the evening and the boiler starts operation after the hot water runs out. This system meets our demand and contributes to the reduction in operating cost. Now we have a plan to expand the facility. On this occasion, Eco-cute will be additionally installed and both the hot water made by eco-friendly Eco-cute and the hot springs ultra-deep water welling from underground of 1504 meters will satisfy guests with the pleasant spa. Trest-Inn TamachiThe primary target on opening in 2003 was energy cost reduction. ITOMIC Eco-cute conformed to the idea. The system uses nighttime electricity at the lowest energy price rate. The added value of easy operation led to the deci-sion to install the equipment. As for the installation effect, we appreciate running cost lower than that for fuel gas, which is in the initial plan. Hosei University Junior and Senior High SchoolIn order to bring out the full energy-saving effect, this institute selected equipment based on an energy-saving plan made by an energy service company. Nursery home Mominoki・SuginamiOur fi rst priority is resident's safe, comfortable life and that all facilities employ safe, reliable, and eco-friendly All electrifi cation. On opening in March 2006, we select-ed earth- and human-friendly ITOMIC Eco-cute as water heater equipment. “Human-friendly” means safety. Eco-cute that does not use fi re brings no anxiety so that we can off er our basic ideal of a safe and reliable life to our residents. “Earth-friendly” includes the carbon dioxide emission reduction eff ect. The Yokohama Campus of Musashi Institute of Technology (Faculty of Environmental and Information Studies) became the fi rst educational institution in Japan to acquire the in-ternational environmental standard ISO14001 certifi cation in 1998. The facility (commonly-called “Eco campus”) and the attached junior and senior high schools, which were renovated in 2007, are equipped with a variety of diff erent kinds of state-of-the-art eco-conscious technologies. Change in specifi cationsSalt resistant and High salt resistant specifi cationsThese specifi cations include a coating applied to the exterior and main components according to the Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association Standard (JRA9002), which pre-vents sea salt particles fl owing on salt breezes from adhering to the equipment and causing corrosion. Heat-up circulation specifi cationsThese specifications ensure that the hot water is circulated to prevent heat discharge in the plumbing. Antifreeze specifi cationsThese specifi cations include antifreeze band heaters installed in the main parts of the heat pump unit and the storage tank unit to prevent plumbing damage due to freezing in midwinter. (The heat-ers automatically turn on when the outside temperature drops be-low 5℃ .)

Multiple units control specifi cationsWhen more than one Eco-cute is installed in parallel and operated at the same time, variations in the hot-water supply condition of each unit (drift fl ow) will be generated. The multiple units control specifi cations only need wiring between the Eco-cute units. The remaining volume of hot water in each unit is monitored, and the hot-water supply is automatically adjusted to resolve the variation.

Install the units where cold air from the heat pump unit outlet or operation noise do not annoy neighbors and consider sound insulation measures. The following space is needed for maintenance inspections. If the space is less than the following, maintenance may be impossible. Be sure to maintain more space than the following when designing.

Feed water pressure is recommended as 0.2 to 0.3 MPa on the primary side. 1. Use stainless steel or copper pipes for plumbing. 2. Conduct heat insulation work to prevent condensation on the plumbing. 3. If water is expected to freeze, implement antifreeze measures. 4.

Hot-water supply plumbingUse heat resistant plumbing material such as stainless steel and copper. 1. Conduct heat insulation to prevent accidents and heat radiation. 2. When hot water is supplied downwards from the storage tank, install atmosphere open pipe or vacuum 3. breakers to prevent negative pressure generation. When driving a pipe into the storage tank directly, do not to apply force to the neck portion. 4.

Drain plumbingDo not install valves at the drain outlet and the heat pump unit drain port (air heat exchange drain). Be sure 1. to conduct indirect drainage treatment instead. The storage tank drains high temperature water. Use heat resistant plumbing material.2.

Remote control installationOnly one accessory remote control should be installed for one heat pump unit. In case the remote control 1. is installed far from the heat pump unit, extrinsic infl uence such as noise may cause malfunctions. Imple-ment the necessary measures to avoid any infl uence from the conduit work or route confi rmation. (In par-ticular, do not approximate or parallel the master electric cable to the operation cables.) Do not exceed the maximum cable length of 50 m. Use shielded cables for the remote control line and be sure to ground one end of the shielded cables.2.

Basic contract Industrial thermal storage adjustment contractIf the operation time of a thermal storage type water heater system shifts from daytime (8:00 to 22:00) to nighttime (22:00 to 8:00), this contract results in a 60% discount on the electricity bill. ITOMIC Industrial-use Eco-cute is usu-ally operated under this contract. Learning functionThis is an energy-saving function; operation pattern per weekday has been monitored for the past one month (four weeks) and the required volume of hot water and operation time are calculated, which prevents unneces-sary operation and water temperature decreases due to natural heat radiation. (This function must be set by our service personnel.)

Seasonal modeAs contrasted to normal 90 ℃ operation mode, this mode varies operation temperature according to the outside temperature. Using this mode in summer, when not as much high temperature water is required, reduces unnecessary boiling and warming operations.

Q1 Are any hygiene measures against Legionella required?

A1 Legionella is sterilized over 60℃ . Because this unit stores water at over 60℃ , the bacteria does not de-velop.

Q2 Is water boiled by Eco-cute suitable for drinking?

A2 Be sure to boil water again with kettles before drink.

Q3 How loud operation noise is?

A3 It is 54 dB (at point of 1 m distant, 1.5 m high).

Q4 How about equipment durability?

A4 Legal durable years in Japan are 15 years. However, note that it depends on actual operating conditions and environment.

Q5 How long is the distance between the heat pump unit and the storage tank?

A5 When installed at the same level, the recommendation is 5 m in direct distance (max. 30 m). In case one is installed on the top of the other, it depends on the installation method. In case the heat pump unit is on top and the storage tank is on the bottom: real height is 3 m (total plumb-ing length is 5 m or less)In case the storage tank is on top and the heat pump unit is on the bottom: real height is 7 m (total plumb-ing length is 10 m or less)

Q6 Is it possible to install the heat pump units indoors?

A6 Install them outdoors. Heat exchange failure may occur, which results in lower performance.
