Dear Members, The J70s are here! The J70s are here! It’s hard to believe that after more than a year of planning the West Marine 2018 J70 World Championship has begun! It is going to be an incredible week of sailing with the competition including professional and Corinthian sailors arriving now from around the world. Registration is underway, and racing will begin on Tuesday. We are so grateful for the incredible support from the staff and from the Membership. If you are planning to come out to see the racing, there are rules (included below) and there is etiquette. Please be sure to adhere to both! Some tips for spectator boats from a J70 Worlds competitor: J 70s can go fast so plan ahead and steer accordingly J 70s go very slow in powerboat wakes too so please watch your speed Please stay clear of the restricted area (diagram below) A list of sail numbers and competitor names are included below. Racing starts with a practice race at 1400 on Monday. After that, first gun is 1100 every day through Saturday. Competitors will be following Channel 78 if you want to listen to communications with them. The Race Committee will be on private channel. We are also connecting out-of-town visitors with spectator boats. If you plan to go out, consider taking some of our guests out on the water. Please text or email and let us know how many spectators you can take: Ramsay Hoguet: (617) 283-6811 [email protected] Cheryl Byrne: (978) 837-0371 [email protected] If you have already signed-up to be a spectator boat, please check-in with registration in the morning and we will connect you with spectators. EVENT CLASS RULES

I.3. SUPPORT BOATS

A boat shall receive no outside assistance from the time the boat leaves its dock or mooring until the

boat has returned to the dock or mooring each day, except:

(a) as provided for in RRS 41; or

(b) the transfer of late arriving crew, food or drink prior to the preparatory signal of the first race

of the day and the transfer of crew, food or drink after the boat has finished or retired from its last

race of the day; or

(c) assistance reasonably necessary for the safety of the crew or boat in the event of an

emergency after the boat has finished or retired from its last race of the day, including

emergencies due to weather, equipment failure or other causes.

I.4 CORINTHIAN DIVISION
