A BIT OF HISTORY

Apple’s first tablet computer was the Newton MessagePad 100, in 1993.

• They also developed a prototype PowerBood Duo-based tablet, the PenLite

• They decided not to release because it might hurt the MessagePad’s sales

• They released several more MessagePads with the final one, being the MessagePad 2100, discontinued in 1998.

AN IPAD IS BORN

The IPad was announced on January 27, 2010• It was released on April 3, 2012

It originally had a single core cpu and 256MB of ram which was soon overshadowed by the iPhone 4

It had no USB port

Had an app store that allowed people to easily buy apps

The iPad 2 had:

a dual core CPU and 512MB of Ram,

a camera,

was thinner and lighter form

a retina display• (2048x1536 resolution with 264 ppi)

THE INTERFACE

Almost all input is given through the touch screen• Complex gestures like multi-touch• Zooming by spreading or pinching two fingers• Touch-drag

Things such as a command line are unavailable unless the iPad is jailbroken
