    Asias exports o manuacturedgoods increased by 15 per cent in2011, but the share o manuactured

    goods in the regions total exportsell rom 79 per cent to 77 percent. Exports o uels and miningproducts increased by 30 per cent(reaching a share o 13 per cent).

    Exports o uels and miningproducts rom the Middle East, theCommonwealth o IndependentStates (CIS) and Arica increasedby 46 per cent, 37 per cent and 15per cent respectively in 2011. Therelatively slower growth in exportso uels and mining products romArica is due to the Libyan crisis

    World merchandise exports by product

    The strongest growth in the value o merchandise exports in 2011 wasrecorded by uels, which increased by 37 per cent, ollowed by agricultural

    raw materials (26 per cent) and ores and other minerals (25 per cent). Mosto these increases are due to the strong growth in commodity prices in 2011.

    Theshareofmanufacturedproductsinmerchandiseexportsdeclinedto65per cent in 2011 rom 75 per cent in 2000. Within the manuactured goodssector, the strongest growth was recorded by non-pharmaceutical chemicals,automotive products and clothing, which grew by 20 per cent, 17 per centand 17 per cent respectively. Exports o integrated circuits and o electronicdata processing and oce equipment posted the lowest growth in 2011 (1.9per cent and 1.3 per cent respectively) ollowing an impressive rebound romthe crisis in 2010.

    World exports o agricultural products increased by 21 per cent in 2011 toUS$ 1,659 billion. This was partly due to increases in the prices o ood and

    agricultural raw materials, which posted record growth o 20 per cent and 23per cent respectively.

    The top ten exporters o agricultural products in 2011 each recorded growthrates o 15 per cent or more. Indias exports increased by an astounding 49per cent.

    World ood exports accounted or 82 per cent o agricultural exports in 2011,expanding by 21 per cent to US$ 1,356 billion.

    World exports o oce and telecom equipment increased by a modest 4per cent in 2011. Their share in total world exports dropped to 9 per cent

    rom 11 per cent in 2010. Five out o the ten top exporters o oce andtelecom equipment recorded a decline in exports.

    Chinese Taipei moved rom eighth to sixth position. Chinas share inworld exports o electronic data processing (EDP) and oce equipmentincreased to 39 per cent in 2011 rom 5 per cent in 2000. In the sameperiod, its share in world exports o telecom equipment increased to 33 percent rom 7 per cent.

    World exports o textiles and clothing grew by 17 per cent in 2011. The topten exporters each registered 13 per cent growth or more.

    Bangladesh recorded the highest increase (27 per cent) while the lowestamong the top ten was recorded by the United States with 13 per cent.

    The order or the top ten exporters remains the same as in 2010. Chinawas the leading exporter o textiles and clothing in 2011 with a 32 percent share in world exports o textiles and 37 per cent in clothing. TheEuropean Union and the United States are the major markets or clothing,accounting or 45 per cent and 21 per cent respectively o world imports.
