I took over management of the network from their previous Network Administrator. I had to discover, document and update the existing network infrastructure. Working with management and other services and personal at my disposal, I worked on replacing outdated wireless and core equipment as well as explored updated options for our WAN and MPLS setup between remote locations. I also lead in the cleanup of the company’s Amazon Web Services network setup. Most of the designers and server engineers were unaware of any kind of structure and so there was much confusion between the different teams in each city. Along with primary network support to the company and all its distributed locations around the world, I had to work with management and server engineers in the education of the network setup and their part in it. I worked with different partners to provide and update coverage of support for all of our network equipment as well.

I was brought on specifically to help complete a project upgrading all the firewalls for a customer with thousands of stores across the nation. My job consisted of providing the backend support to field techs,

ranging from basic trouble shooting the installation and swap outs to completely reprogramming all of the equipment on site. My job evolved into Activations and I started helping out on several projects at once bringing up brand new customers. Network Engineer, (Apr. 2013 – Nov. 2014) I handled the design and operations of a mid-sized ISP’s wide-area network. This included both the

internal infrastructure upgrade of the company, spanning multiple switching and routing platforms, to building network solutions to end user business locations. My day to day operations included monitoring and updating our network monitoring software, keeping the IPAM system up to date and auditing the network regularly to make sure it was providing the best network capabilities to our customers. The network included switching platforms such as Juniper, Cisco and many other wireless platforms such as Ubiquity. I also made sure proper QoS settings were in place for VoIP and other protocols. I also coordinated with vendors for network upgrades or troubleshooting when it applied.

I handled networking and technical networking solutions for a large-scale Enterprise Network with over 3000 users, multiple departments and organizations providing connectivity to various sites. I was included in and led projects concerning the general expansion to new locations and the maintenance of the current network. My routine duties included support for IP phones, Wi-Fi and internet connectivity to the different municipalities such as the Police Department, Fire Department, Street Signals and Water Control.
