The International Union of Food Science & Technology (IUFoST) is the global federation of national scienti�c organisations representing more than 300,000 food scientists and technologists from over 75 countries. It has �ve regional groupings: ALACCTA representing Central and South America, EFFoST representing Europe, FIFSTA representing the ASEAN region, MENAFoST representing the Middle East and North Africa, and WAAFoST representing West Africa.

IUFoST is the only scienti�c organization for Food Science and Technology elected by its scienti�c peers across disciplines into ICSU (International Council for Science), and it represents Food Science & Technology to other international organizations. IUFoST organises World Food Congresses, among many other activities, to stimulate the ongoing exchange of knowledge in those scienti�c disciplines and technologies relating to the expansion, improvement, distribution and conservation of the world’s food supply.

Indian National Science Academy, a premier Science Academy in the country plays a crucial role in promoting, recognizing and rewarding excellence as the adhering body. Another important task is to publish journals, organize scienti�c discussions and bring out proceedings and monographs. The Academy promotes public awareness and understanding of science. Acting as a link between the scienti�c community and the planners, they advise the governments on critical issues. Importantly, they serve as forums for interaction among scientists within and outside the country. It recognizes many top young scientists, engineers & technologists by awarding them medals and providing modest support to needy young researchers for pursuing research activities. The International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) (a member of ICSU) is a global Scienti�c Organisation for Food Science and Technology representing over 3,00,000 members from more than 75 Countries along with the many regional groups, disciplinary groups and a�liated bodies and re�ects the latest scienti�c status of Food Science and Technology every two

years from around the globe. Even though the IUFoST Congress was held in many Countries several times this is the �rst time IUFoST is having its global congress in India. In fact, it is coming back to Asia after ten years from Shanghai through Capetown, Iguazu, Montreal and Dublin in 2016.

The First day will be having workshops and second day will have the Gala opening and sessions and Posters and EXPO which is on October 24, 2018, followed by three more interesting days of Science and Technology which is the focus of this Congress.

Together, it is important that it is as much your IUFoST, as much as anybody elses and you will make the di�erence in this Congress by your esteemed presence.
