JOSHUAI LESTER born Sept. 6, 1781 in Halifax County Virginia,became pastor of Smith's Fork Baptist Church when it was organizedMay 17, 1806, and served as pastor until July 1843 when heresign~d due to ill health. (page 173 in History of MiddleTennes~ee Baptists) He died February 8, 1844 of cancer of the face.
