AIRBUSA320-FAMILYA318 - A319 - A320 - A321
Prevents operational events: ATB, Diversions and Emergency Landings due to fan induced smoke/smell events.
Reduces Fan Maintenance Costs and Fan NFF removals
Failure Prediction: Multiple detection thresholds retaining Fan reserve life and fan restarts
Simplest solution
Removal or modification of fan not required
Easy attachment to the fan on-wing – Less than one hour per aircraft
No modification to aircraft wiring or structure
Includes on-wing diagnostics for system troubleshooting
Fully interchangeable on Extract or Blower - EVT3454H or HC fans.
EVMU CAPABILITIES:• Passive Mode • Enhanced Stall Detection — Uniterrupted Fan Operation • Enhanced System Monitoring — Passive Data Collection & Recording • Enhanced Maintenance Diagnostics & Convenience Tools — System Fault Interrogation • Enhanced Vibration Filtering & Analysis
INTELLIGENT FUNCTIONALITYWith hundreds of VMUs in service for over 5 years, the IWS VMU has successfully eliminated 100% of smoke and smoke-smell events, preventing expensive and dangerous flight exceptions (ATB, Diversions, Emergency Landings) and significantly reducing maintenance costs for the Airbus A320 Family.
Intelligence is integrated into the VMU, from our patented fan vibration monitoring to system diagnostics. The VMU will detect impending fan failures up to 50 hours before failure occurs. Protection from FOD ingestion, and failure detection of other fan rotating parts are all part of VMU
capability. In case of an impending fan or bearing fault, the VMU Status LED is raised and the fan is shut down to prevent a costly and potentially dangerous failure event. Thanks to built-in software analytics, operational data retention, and Maintenance LED diagnos-tics for stalls, electrical faults and other system issues identification reduce aircraft trou-bleshooting downtime. All data is accessible at the VMU/aircraft without requirement to return the VMU or fan to the repair shop.
SCHEDULE YOUR UNSCHEDULED MAINTENANCEThe IWS VMU incorporates a predictive detection of bearing and rotating-component failures, before failure. Removing the VMU is never required for Reset operation. The VMU monitoring threshold stops the fan according to existing system architecture, and allows for easy restart/reset of the fan/VMU from the Flight Deck without the need to access the fan or VMU. This allows reserve operating time for aircraft dispatch and sched-uling of maintenance at the customer’s next convenient availability.
