Japan’s government is a “constitutional monarchy”

There is a Japanese emperor but his power is very limited.

Power is held mainly by the prime minister of Japan The prime minister is elected by the emperor after

being nominated by the house of representatives

The government consists of a house of representatives containing 480 seats. Much like the US.

Japan consists of a total of 6,852 island running down the coast of Asia.

Its main islands are, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikou, and Kyushu

About 73% of Japan is forested, mountainous, and uninhabitable for agricultural, industrial, or residential use

 Japan is located directly on the ring of fire. Resulting in frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions

The climate of Japan is usually stable throughout the year, but there can be key changes from north to south.

The average temperature for Japan during winter is 41 degrees f.

During summer the temp. is about 77 degrees The highest temp. ever recorded in Japan was

105 degrees.

After the end of World War II, Japan experienced an industrial boom. As a result, widespread pollution
