ABOUT THIS E-BOOK

www.tarotavenue.com

Since starting my tarot journey I’ve been very

pleasantly surprised at how much support

there is out there from the wider tarot

community.  I always say that you can never

stop learning when it comes to tarot.  I wanted

to share my top 10 influencers when it comes

to the world of tarot. I decided to reach out as I

wanted to let them know that I am a super fan

and I also wanted to use the opportunity to get

some great tarot tips for my readers.  I’ve been

absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity

from these tarot professionals.  There are

some real golden nuggets in here.

I would love to hear your feedback and

comments so please feel free to email me at

[email protected]

Enjoy xxx

Breathe. You don't have toknow everything about Tarot to getvaluable insights from the cards. Justtake a deep breath, clear your mind, thentune in to the cards. Look at the imageryof the cards and see what comes to youintuitively. If you're feeling blocked orflustered, take another deep breath, gointo your heart centre, then look back atthose cards. Connect with the Divine andyour intuition, and you'll soon find theanswers you're seeking.

Practice, practice, practice. Like any skill, the more time you spend practicing, the moreproficient you’ll get. Read for as many people as youcan - preferably in person. You’ll be pleasantlysurprised to know that there are many lovelyvolunteers who will be more than happy to be yourguinea pigs! Seek those people out and give it a go! Iread for ten years before I went pro. This gave me alot of experience with different people and diversesituations. Being in the trenches that long allowedme to see many ways to look at those cards - and italso made me a more resilient reader. Not muchflummoxes me any longer - the readings flow frommy lips (or fingertips in the case of email readings)like a ticker tape. If you practice consistently, you’llget to that point too.

This is tricky because everyone is sodifferent! Some people do well with a studious-typeapproach where they read all the good books and takenotes, while others do well with a more footloose andfancy free approach, just doing readings on friends andlooking up meanings and learning as they go. But Ithink in either case, having fun is important and usingthe Tarot to explore your self and find out more aboutYOU is what really counts. So I would suggest keepinga Tarot journal and using the Tarot to ask questionsabout yourself and then journalling about it. Forexample, asking "what are my greatest strengths?" or"what should I be focusing on right now?". This is agreat place to start, anyhow. I love Tarot for Yourselfby Mary K Greer - that's a wonderful resource foranyone wanting to get the most out of their tarotpractice and have fun.

Get a good beginner's book. Mary Greer orAnthony Louis are great places to start. I love both ofthem. I suppose you will also want to get a Tarot deck.Get one that resonates with you, but also make surethat book and deck match so your learning process isas seamless as possible.

Don't think you have to memorizemeanings before you start. Let your readingsinform your study instead of the other wayaround. And don't be afraid to come up with yourown meanings based on the pictures.

Pick up your cards every day andplay with them. Shuffle them and get used toholding them. Look through them and find thecards that speak to you. Start a daily cardpractice and reflect on just one single cardeach day. Don’t shy away from readings - it’stotally okay to look up cards in a book for aslong as you need to (I still do to this day!)Above all, try to avoid the feeling ofoverwhelm that can come with the decision tolearn tarot - it takes a long time to get toknow those 78 cards and the only way to dothat is to work with them daily.

Firstly find a Tarot Deck that"talks" to you. It is crucial that you have arapport with your Tarot.Secondly keep exploring new ideas andtrying different Tarot spreads until youfind that you have a language that youcan communicate in with ease andfluency. As with any language dailypractice will pay dividends. The cardsshould be part of your toolkit in life just asan insulated screwdriver is a part of anelectricians arsenal.

To remember that each card is an artwork initself, so just relax, gaze at the card, and notice howyou feel as you do that. You'll be able to access yourown wisdom then and also probably come up with aninterpretation that is similar to what you would find ina tarot book.

My number one tip to somebody who is brandnew to reading tarot is to get one deck and start swappingreadings with another tarot reader. If you have to use thebooklet as you’re doing the reading, that is completely fine, everyone starts somewhere. Getting some hands on learningis the most effective, in my opinion. In fact, when I teachtarot in person, every student leaves my 6 hour workshoponly if they have done a reading for a peer.

Tip #1: Keep a Tarot journal. Include yourown impressions of the cards, notes from your studies, spreads to try out, and readings you have done. Try todo a reading for yourself at the commencement of bigchanges (jobs, relationships, trips, starting a blog,etc.). Go back over these readings periodically and notewhat actually happened. I like to use a different colorpen (or type face) each time. BTW, your journal canbe with pen and paper, computer printouts (put in a3-ring binder), or on a public or private blog (you canset a blog to only allow viewing by yourself or peopleyou okay).

Tip #2 (I had to include this one!) In a reading, whenyou draw a blank, remember: "When in doubt, simplydescribe the card!"
