A23The programme is designed to cover the current wide discipline of electronics engineering with the added specialization of electronics used in the field of medicine and healthcare. Graduates are forecast to serve in the field of medicine and healthcare. The use of electronics in medical equipment and health-care today require skilled and trained engineers necessary for these new challenges. The graduates in this programme should fulfill the needs of the curriculum which include course in Advanced Engineering Mathematics, Foundation in Electric and Electronics and medical equipments. They need to undergo courses in Psychology, Clinical Sciences, Functions And Operation Of Medical Equipment and Medical Imaging.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENT

This programme provides students with the knowl-edge and ability to use, test, maintain and repair electrical machines, motor and electronic devices. Courses offered include Principles of Electricity, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Electronic Devices, Motor Control, Power Supply & Control and Industrial Safety, Engineering Maintenance, Motor Control (AT & AU) Protection System, Industrial Power Supply and Project.

The programme covers broad discipline of electron-ics engineering, with specialization of electronics used in the field of process and industrial automa-tion. The programme is designed with a broad-based electrical and electronic engineering foundation which includes mathematics, electrical and electronic fundamentals, computer fundamentals and programming, communication system fundamentals, semiconductor devices, wiring installation and compu-ter aided design which provides versatility to the gradu-ates, while emphasizing the area of specialization towards the end of the programme. The specialization courses include anatomy & physiology, medical system practice, biomedical signal measurement, biomedical instrumentation and medical imaging.

A biomedical equipment technician is a vital component of the healthcare delivery system and is responsible for maintaining medical equipments. They are also able to work in the manufacturing of medical equipments, computer and electronic equipments and machinery manufacturing indus-tries. They help to design, develop, test and manu-facture electrical and electronic equipments. They also work in product evaluation and testing, using measuring and diagnostic devices to adjust, test and repair equipments. The graduates of the programme will have the opportunity to work as Biomedical Engineering Technician, Biomedical Equipment Technician, Electronic Technician, Technical Assistant, Assistant Engineer Sales consultant and Training Personnel.
