• EU nuclear industry is willing to participate in the ITER project and via this participation to acquire know-how for the future fusion programme

• European Commission support to the industry involvement in the fusion programme

• ITER estimated construction/operation costs :~ 5 Billions €/ ~ 5.3 Billions €

• European contribution to the construction/operation costs :~ 45% / ~ 34%

• Sharing of the component procurement between the Parties� the non-common part (borne by the host Party)

> 20% of total construction cost, financed by the EU (50%) and France (50%)

� the common part (shared among the 7 Parties)> 80% of total construction cost, financed by EU (30%) and the other 6 Parties

(10% each); 10% is considered as a reserve.> Approximately 10 % is made available in "cash" to the ITER Organisation for

machine assembly and the instrumentation & control systems (work packages referred to as "Fund“).

• A Design Review was completed recently – it concluded that someareas require further investigation to minimise risk

• A revised reference Design with a adapted cost estimate and schedule will be presented at the next Council meeting (foreseen for June 2008)

• ITER IO expects to meet the first major Procurement Arrangement milestones

• First Procurement Arrangements should be concluded before the end of this year

• Possible role in the components and systems procurementBelgian companies should identify within the procurement packages components and systems for which they would be interested to tender

> Summary table of procurement allocation between the Parties> Budget estimates for the different procurement packages

Belgian companies should search for partners to prequalify and tender withinthe framework of consortia or as subcontractors to these partners, considering:

> Technical scope of the procurement packages> Size of procurement packages

• Technology datasheets, referring to the current WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) proposed by the ITER team.
