Jai Jinendra and Pranam! Respected Society Members, This summer was not as hot and before we can realize we are now officially in fall season and changing colors of leaves will be a feast to our eyes. Below are brief details of activities which happened in temple or are related to our society in general. Pandit Shri Nirmal Sagarji conducted lectures at temple from July 16th through July 22nd and they were all well attended. We also had the opportunity of conducting Parshva Padmavati Pujan on July 20th for the first time in our temple which was attended by over 300 people and had a total collection of over $13,989. We are grateful to Shri Nirmal Sagarji for conducting the pujan simplistically with full explanation on importance of each pujan during which participants had the privilege of taking home Parshva Padmavati Yantra and sacred threads with 27 knots. This event was concluded with Swamivatsalya and we would like to thank all the volunteers who helped out before, during and after the event. On July 26th, over 40 members of our society did Panch Tirth Yatra to local temples and Ghar Derasars. This was a very well organized, co-ordinated and managed event by Dipakbhai Shah and Vinaybhai Shah. Yatris had a wonderful time and pleasant journey. Many thanks to members who welcomed the yatris into their homes and gave yatris the opportunity to pray and enjoy their hospitality. Most auspicious of all events, Paryushan Parva started on August 22nd. We were blessed with presence of Shri Girishbhai Shah during entire Paryushan. He gave lectures every morning and evening which were attended by large number of people from all age groups. This year during Paryushan, there were 45 Tapasvis, 39 adults and 6 children, who completed their tap in good shaata.

List of all Tapasvis and their respective taps have been included in the later parts of Jain Vani. There were young kids of ages 6 & 7 who were doing upvas for first time and they are an inspiration to all. Congratulations to their parents for inclining them towards Jain values and Jain way of living at young age. Swapna Darshan day had an attendance of over 750 people and total pledges of over $87,000. We thank Shri Girishbhai Shah for explaining the importance of each Swapna and motivating our Sangh to rise up to the event and making it a success. Huge thanks to all who pledged. We thank Prafulbhai Shah, Rohitbhai Shah and Peenal Shah for their huge help during Gheeboli. Many thanks to Vinaybhai Shah for compiling the list of Tapasvis, Gheeboli charts and collection amount. Swamivatsalya and Ekashna food was prepared by group of most enthusiastic ladies lead by Bhartiben Doshi and her Team. They did a wonderful job of preparing food and managing the crowd. We would like to Thank Anand & Mona Bora family for sponsoring the groceries during Ekashana. Special thanks to entire Religious Group and Swadhay Group for working relentlessly. We also want to thank Harindrabhai and Mayuriben Shah for their dedication and hard work during Paryushan and Das Lakshana and for their awe inspiring Aanghi Decoration each day. Sakal Sangh Paarna was attended by over 800 people who feasted on wonderful food and enjoyed meticulous arrangements by Paarna Sponsors Doshi, Shah, and Mehta Families. We congratulate them on a job well done and thank them for their magnanimity. We are pleased to announce that we have Paarna Day sponsors for 2015. MICHHAMI DUKKADAM! UTTAM KSHAMA!! Das Lakshana Parva was celebrated by several members of our society and all tapasvis were in good shaata. There were two tapasvis who did 10 upvas. This year, for the first time, our society celebrated Kshamavani Divas collectively on September 14th. We were graced by presence of Gurudev Shri Chitrabhanuji and Smt. Pramodaben. We had the privilege of thanking Gurudev and bestowing him a Plaque on behalf of entire society. Many thanks to Shri Shrikantbhai and Neenben Mehta along with Rajbhai Jain, Manishbhai Mehta, Pritish Shah, BOT & EC members. Event was attended by over 325 people and Pujan, Bhaktambar Stotra was followed by Swamivatsalya. We also want to thank Nisha Doshi and Megha Shah for Swamivatsalya food and all the volunteers who made the event a success and hopefully we can continue the tradition. Upcoming events are Ayambil Oli starting September 30th and Diwali Celebrations on October 26th. This year's Study Class annual day program details will be announced soon. Jignesh Madhani Jay Shah President, Executive Committee Chairman, Board of Trustee
Table of contents Page Message from the Chairman Jai Jinendra! We convey Michhami Dukhdam from the Board of Trustees to the entire Society membership. Your Board has been actively managing many overall policy and operational issues while our Executive Committee is planning and successfully executing programs throughout the year. We salute all volunteer members of the BOT, EC and various committees for their valuable contributions. Here is an update on BOT activities: The Ad Hoc committee for Temple Expansion led by Sureshbhai and Hemantbhai is planning a workshop discussion on the current and future space needs of the Society and in order to seek member input. The Financial Committee led by Shryasbhai and Rajivbhai and coordinated by Jignesh Madhani is focusing on upgrading financial software with web based secured member information application. Treasurer Vijaybhai is working closely with EC Finance Officer Ajay Ajemera in keeping financial status updated and helping BOT in keeping account receivables current. Jayaben will be working with a kitchen designer to upgrade and modernize our facility. Niranjan Modi is helping with public relations and assessing senior activities at the Temple. Additionally Constitution and Bylaws committee led by Girishbhai and Nominating Committee led by Bhupendrabhai are actively conducting their duties. We are happy to report that the Shikhar restoration project has been successfully completed within budget. With help of Amarbhai, Sureshbhai coordinated carpet cleaning and shampooing chairs in the Social Hall in time for the Paryushan Parva. This Paryushan Parva, I had a pleasure and privilege of serving food on several occasions. I enjoyed it not only as Seva to our membership but also an opportunity to meet and talk to many Society members of all ages. Most members congratulated us in staying united as one Jain Center. Some of you provided process improvement ideas that I would like to share with the membership.
• During the lectures or Jain discourse, provide volunteers to look after kids of all ages. Thereby maintaining a spiritual environment conducive to learning.
• Start ‘Bhakti’ with a good music, half an hour prior to the lecture. This practice can facilitate positive vibrations among audience in preparation for the lecture. And more importantly provide half-hour cushion for people who may be few minutes late. If we all came on time ready for the lecture, the scholar/speaker can feel energized and provide the best message posible.
• Assuming everyone attending lectures want most out of the message, and if the messenger (scholar) is dynamic, we can keep audience focused and quiet during the lectures. This can avoid announcements/interruptions to ask for quiet and to maintain silence.
• Our pujas are meant to connect with God-how can we excuse members of the audience who want to socialize? Can we train ourselves in doing unrelated conversation/business outside the main prayer hall?
• Keep cell phones in the cars or keep them on vibrate? • It is said that one’s Home is their Temple. Then why can’t we keep our Temple like our homes-neat and
clean? Should we pick up trash, small or large objects lying on the floor? Should we leave our tables and chairs clean after eating?
• At majority of Temple events, except festive events of Mahavir Jayanti or Diwali, can everyone wear Indian clothing-men with kurta/pajama and ladies in sari’s or dress? This practice of simple clean dressing, not only could help elevate pride and respect for our religion but also enhance everyone’s focus on religious activities! Enhancing decorum and respect for our place of worship must be our priority.
We have been blessed with many young members and almost two hundred children. Let us think about how to embrace and adopt new practices, that can not only help us grow but also teach by example the next generation of members, who are likely to continue what they experience! Kindly Jay Shah, Chairman Board of Trustees
