A. 5,000 Gallon Service Water Storage Tank This storage tank is the first to be filled by the collected rainwater. The fixtures on the eleventh floor are supplied by this tank, which is large enough to hold the water needed to supply the fixtures for one week.

B. 5,000 Gallon Pool water Storage Tank This is the second tank to be filled by the collected rainwater. The water lost within each pool is replaced with this collected water in order to keep the pools filled to the recommended levels. Once in the pool loop, the water is treated and re-ciculated, rather than disposed of.

The design of this structures plumbing system intends to focus on the minimizing of its dependency on water supply from outside sources. With a higher-than-average level of precipitation in the Cleveland region, rainwater provides large opportunity to decrease this dependency. This rainwater is collected within a rooftop rain collection system and supplied through a centcollection system and supplied through a centralized distribution tree to the various functions within. This centralized system minimizes the length of piping necessary to reach each fixture, reducing the initial cost of the buildings construction. This arrangement also mainmaintains a decreased requirement for pressure supplementation from building pumps, allowing for smaller and more energy efficient pumps to adequately supply each fixture. With a focus on water reuse and rainwater collection, the annual consumption of water within the structure is drastically reduced. Primarily, the collected rainwater feeds two five thousand gallon tanks that supply water to the upper spa levels. This decreases the main pump size that supplies each of the lower floors of the structure. One of these two elestructure. One of these two elevated tanks supplies the numerous pools that are located throughout the upper levels of the structure, also. As this water is required to be circulated by code, it is then pumped back into the main pool service room in which it is filtered, cleaned and retreated to be sent back to the pools. This almost entireentirely closed system ensures that the basement pump room will not have to handle the pool water and its requirements. By separating the top spa plumbing system and the rest of the building, less pumping power is necessary, thus smaller pumps are required that consume less energy at a more efficient rate. A backup supply pump is provided to supply these upper levels if not enough water is supplied by these tanks. To further improve the plumbing system’s efficiency, high efficiency efficiency Toilets (HET) and waterless urinals were implemented. These fixtures greatly reduce the systems yearly consumption of water, saving thousands of dollars annually. This building also integrates a greywater treatment system that collects and cleans the water used in sinks, showers, and drinking fountains in order to be reused for other building services. This process is displayed in the garden zones of the office floors and provides a sprovides a space for the workers to break and experience biophilic interactions. Since the water that is being treated contains no solid waste or organic material that may prove harmful to those utilizing the space, no separation from the rest of the structure is necessary. Other plant life is also introduced in these zones to further expand the beneficial characteristics of the biophilic gardens. Together, these design strategies allow the structure to supply some of its own water, as well recirculate the water that has been supplied by other providers.

In order to reduce the buildings dependency on outside water sources, three approaches were taken. Initially, more efficient fixtures including high efficiency toilets, waterless urinals, efficient shower heads, and high efficiency laundry machines were selected. These more responsible fixtures reduce the structures demand by an estimated 24% annually. Next, a roof catchment system was introduced to utilize Cleveland precipiprecipitation characteristics in order to use the collected water to service each toilet. With a 14.6K square foot roof and Cleveland's average yearly rainfall at 39.23 inches, this approach will supply the structure with nearly 13% of the structures water demand. Finally, the living machine is introduced, which collects and cleans all greywater used in sinks showers and drinking fountains, reducing the structures annual consumption by an additional 22.3%. In Total, the structures consumption of city supplied water is reduced by nearly 60%.
