EDITORIAL COMMENT

BISMILLAHIR RAHMANIR RAHEEM In The Name Of ALLAH, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful Assalamu Alaikum to you all This magazine in general is really reflections of the whole variety of activities that add up to make AL-MUSTAQBIL JAMAT, we hope, is no exception. You may look at the magazine in many ways as you like; as a record of events in writing or as pictures, a means of different types of self expression, a form of diversion for a short while, as a precious souvenior or as part of a link between Jamaat-al- Mustaqbil and the Muslim community as a whole. Our intention is to see Jamaat-al Mustaqbil as a reflection of Islamic doings in it’s various methods. We believe that the Jamaat-al-Mustaqbil serves a vital function in the sustenance and growth of society and Islam in general. To cope with the rapidly changing world at this point in time, demands a high order of courage and determi-nation ,flavoured with a sense of humour, especially so when time seems to be flying faster with every new year. Wassalaam Editor-in- Chief Br. Shaheed Abbas Ali

SECRETARY’S MESSAGE Dear brothers and sisters Asssalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu I would like to thank Allah(swt) for giving me the opportunity to present the secretary’s report for Jamaat-Al-Mustaqbil. Jamaat-Al-Mustaqbil was formed in 2005 by a group of Ahle Sunnatul muslims from Ba, Fiji Is-lands. The Jmaat-Al-Mustaqbil was formed to learn and spread Islam and Prophet Mohammed’s (saw) message to help the underprivileged in society. Since its inception, Jamaat-Al-Mustaqbil has successfully organized and participated in Zikre Zikre Zikre Zikre

Mustafa Mustafa Mustafa Mustafa programmes in mosques, markazes, and members’ residences. Milad mehfil have also been held at other Muslim brother’s and sister’s residence. Zikre Mustafa . Zikre Mustafa . Zikre Mustafa . Zikre Mustafa programmes are a must within members’ residence in the first twelve days of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Jamaat-Al-Mustaqbil members have also helped in cooking food during national and district Mi-laad-un-Nabi programmes. Help has also been provided in other religious programmes such as in times of loss in a family. Members also organized Aftari during Ramadan Jamaat-Al-Mustaqbil also assisted in medical costs, education costs, wedding and funeral costs for poor Muslim brothers and sisters. All these have been possible through the blessings of Allah(swt), the hard work of the members and donations. I, with members of Jamaat-Al-Mustaqbil, would like to thank Allah(swt) for all that we have achieved and pray that he continues to give us strength so we can continue the good deeds of Islam, assisting in religious programmes and helping the underprivileged in the Muslim community. . ZAKAAT-UL-FITR The messenger of Allah enjoined Zakat-ul Fitr pn the one who fasts to shield one’s self from any incident, act, and for the purpose of providing food for the needy. Zakat means to increase, purify, and bless the one who gives zakat increases or grows in purifi-cation and is blessed by Allah. It is the right of Allah to a muslim’s wealth. Once the Zakat is given, the remaining wealth of the person becomes pure and legitimate. The basic idea behind Zakat is that people purify their wealth by giving a share of it in Allah’s way.Just as ablutions purify the body, and salaat purifies the soul, so zakat purifies possession and makes them pleasing to Allah It is obligatory on all muslims, young, old, male and female. Every adult Muslim who posseses over and above what is needed as basic food for the duration of one day and night must pay za-kat-ul-fitr. It is usually the head of the household who collects the zakat for himself and his de-pendents and then passes it on to the Muslim community To distribute it. It is used to help the poor and needy. The earlier it is given the easier it is to make arrangements to help the needy so that they can also be of celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr Without any difficulties.

President- Fiji Muslim League, Valelevu Branch Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh Alhamduillah it is indeed an honor and privilege for me to write this message for Jamaat al – Mustaqbil Magazine. First and foremost I must thank Brother Mohammed Aqbalu Dean who has briefed me about the Jamaat al- Mustaqbil and its operation. This Jamaat also has helped my branch during the national Milad-un-Nabi celebration in 2008 where by they took the honor in preparing the food, alhamdulilllah it was a great suc-cess. Islam was introduced into this country with the indenture system and has prospered with hard work of our pioneers and well wishes. The beautiful teachings of peace, love and tolerance must be conveyed to others. Islam has been a religion practiced by its followers all over the world and the same time it has been por-trayed as a religion of violence, bloodshed, intimidation ,aggression etc. on the contrary ,Islam encourages one to lead a healthy ,active life with qualities of kidness, chastity ,honesty, mercy, courag, patience and polite-ness’, the path to spiritual development is open to all ,and any individual who search the one creator can seek closeness to god through sincere and solemn worship. The complete meaning of Islam is derived from the holy qur-aan and sunnah /hadith [tradition and practices of the holy prophet Mohammed [peace be upon him] and is undeniable. in general the teaching seems to be very firm but it indeed is adaptable, regardless of changes due to scientific and technological phase. it is very important and necessary that all members of Islamic ummah should cooperate with each other and have mutual understanding in following his almighty Allah[swt] orders of Islamic fraternity and solidarity . As we read in surah of “al-e-imran”,verse of 103 that: “ and hold fast, all together ,by the rope which Allah [stretches’ out for you], and be not divided amongst yourselves. I pray to Allah [swt] to bless us with a vision to have a better understanding of our religion and help us to be more sincere in our acts and deeds in this world. with these words I sincerely hope we all will endeavor to make decisions based on the truth and to show compassion and foster peace. On behalf of FML Valelevu branch I wish all the best to al – mustaqbil jamaat in their future endeavors. Khuda Hafiz

PROPHETSPROPHETSPROPHETSPROPHETS As muslims we must believe in all prophets and the messengers of Allah. It is Allah’s guidance to mankind which began with Adam (a.s.) and was completed with Muham-mad(s.a.w.) The last prophet, Muhammad (saw) has given us the religion of Islam. Each Prophet asked the people of his time to obey and worship Allah alone. They taught, guided, and trained people to follow the path of Allah. Prophets and messengers were human beings. We should NEVER refer them literally as the sons of Allah . It is a grave sin to say Allah has sons or partners. We need guidance from Allah because we human beings are weak We have no knowledge about the future. Also we are not perfect. Human beings are so weak that we are unable to make any guidance for ourselves which can hold good for all times and at all conditions This is the reason why Allah has blessed us with the guidance through Prophets and messengers. Allah has also sent books of guidance through prophets and messengers of which the Quran is the last revelation. *********************************************************************

THE PERMISSIBILITY OF RECITING SALAWAT AND SALAAM (FROM QUR'AN AND HADITH)

It is completely within the Shari'ah (Islamic Law) to recite Salutations and Blessings upon Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) as is evident in the following Qur'aanic ayat : "Undoubtedly, Allah and His Angels send blessings o n the Prophet (the Communicator of Unseen News), O you who believe ! Send upon him ble ssings and salute him fully well in abundance" (Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 56 ) The Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) said : "Increase your recitation of DUROOD on me on Friday because on this day Angels present themselves to me. There is no servant of Allah who recites SALUTATIONS upon me, except that his voice reaches me from wherever he is". The Companions asked even after your departure ? "He replied, Yes after my departure too, because Allah has made it Haraam upon the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets". (Jila-ul Ifhaam, by Ibn Qayyim) "Soil does not rot Prophets' bodies. Whenever a Muslim says the Salawat for me, an Angel informs me of it and says, 'So-and-so's son, so-and-so of your When it was asked whether it would be conveyed to him after his Wisaal also, the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) answered, Ummah sent his Salaam and prayed for you.'"

Hadhrat 'Abd ar-Rahman bin 'Auf (radi allahu 'anhu) says that one day the Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) came and entered a date garden. There he performed a very long prostration. Hadhrat 'Abd ar-Rahman (radi allahu 'anhu) feared that Allah had sent death to him. He drew close to him and began to look at him. The Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa-sallam) raised his holy head from the prostration and asked what had happened to him, then he disclosed his fear to him. At this, the Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) said Hadhrat Jibra'il ('alaihis salaam) asked whether he should not give him glad tidings that Allah said that He would send blessings to the person who recited the Holy Qur'an on him and peace and security to the person who bade Salutations to him. (Ahmad)

SALAAT Salaat is the second pillar of Islam. It refers to the five compulsory daily prayers.Salaat is offered five times a day. We offer salaat to remember allah. It brings us closer to him. QURAN SAYS: “Establish salaat to remember me.(Allah).” Salaat is the practical proof of our faith in allah and islam. It has been made compulsory at certain fixed times. The five daily prayers are : Fajr_(At dawn) Zohar-(After midday until afternoon) Asar-From late afternoon until just before sunset Magrib -Just after sunset Isha-Night-until midnight. The Quran says:surely allah loves those who turn to him and those who care for cleanliness. Sawn (Fasting) Fasting the third pillar of islam,is another act of “IBADAH”. All muslims must fast from dawn to sunset everyday of Ramadan, the ninth month of Islamic calendar. Sawn develops self-control and helps to overcome selfishness, laziness and other faults. It is annual training programme to refresh us in caring out our duties towards allah the creator and sustainer.Sawn makes me feel and be aware of hunger and thirst. We experience for ourselves what it is like to have an empty stomach. This develops out feeling for the poor and hungry people. Fasting teaches us to control the love of comfort. It also helps to keep our sexual desires with in our control. Sawn helps us to remain truly obedient to Allah's command. The month of Ramadan is month of for-giveness and a means of avoiding the punishment of hell.

The Religion of Islam Islam is the complete way of life. It’s the guidance provided by Allah, the creator of the universe, for all mankind. Islam is an Arabic word which means submission and obedience. Submission is accep-tance of Allah’s command, obedience means put-ting Allah’s commands into practice.Submission and obedience toAllah brings peace. This is why IslamMeans peace. A person who accepts the Islamic way of life and acts upon it, is a Muslim. Islam has five basic duties which every Muslim must adhere to. These are known as five pillars of Islam.

Parents' rights in Islam

None can deny the parents' favor upon their children. The parents are the underlying reason for the exis-

tence of the child. They have reared him in his babyhood and experienced painstaking efforts to provide

full comfort and sound well-being. Your mother had you in her womb while you were a parasite there

sharing her food and whole being for nine months. In this context, Allah says:

"And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness

and hardship upon weakness and hardship..." (31:14)

It is a preliminary stage followed by incubation and breast feeding for two years marked by peculiar fa-

tigue and hardships. The father, on his part, is meanwhile also fully engaged catering for his child and

bringing him up, not sparing any sort of instructions or guidance he could provide his child with; the

child, meanwhile, a helpless creature is neither harmful nor useful to himself.

Allah has always enjoined that children should be good and thankful to their parents and He says:

"And we have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness

and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years - give thanks to me and to

your parents, - unto Me is the final destination." (31:14)

"... And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say

not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor. And lower unto

them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your

Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small." (17:23, 24)

The right of parents upon you is to do good with them. You should be good to them physically as well as

monetarily, and also with your words and your actions. You should be obedient to them unless in it there

is disobedience to your Lord or there is some harm to you. Be kindhearted to them and serve them as they

need your help. In their old age, in case of any ailment or weakness, never consider them a burden on you,

neither speak to them harshly, because one day you will also become as old as they are. You will be a fa-

ther as they are your parents and, if life permits, soon you will be an old man before your children just like

your parents became old before you. So you need the help of your children as your parents need you today.

If you are doing good to your parents then you must have the good news of a great reward and a better

showing from your children, because whoever remained good to his parents, his children will also be

good to him; and whoever annoyed his parents, will also be annoyed by his children. It is the process of

recompense that deeds provide the results accordingly "as you sow, so will you reap. Allah has ranked the

rights due to the parents high next only to His and the Prophet's, Allah says:

"Worship Allah and join none with Him in worship, and do good to parents..." (4:36)And Allah also

says: "...give thanks to me and to your parents... (31:14)

Being dutiful to one's parents assumes priority even over Jihad (fight in the cause of Allah) as is narrated

in the tradition of Ibn Mas'ood when he asked the Prophet (p.b.u.h.):

"Which deed is most beloved by Allah?" He said, 'Observing prayer in time.' "And next to that?" He

said: 'Being dutiful to one's parents.' "And next to that?" He answered: 'Jihad (fight in the cause of Al-

lah).'"

This Hadith (Prophetic saying) reported by Bukhari and Muslim points directly to the significance of the

rights due to one's parents.

Unfortunately, most people have forgotten these rights, instead disobedience and severance of ties have

risen to harden the hearts, and even they contempt and detest their parents. Some people have even

deemed themselves superior to those two old good creatures. A recompense is sure in store for those dis-

obedient children, sooner or later.

The seven wonders in men 1. Man is aware about his inevitable death, yet he indulges in laughter and merriment 2. Knowing that this world will come to an end, man still hankers after it. 3. Man knows that every thing has been predestined yet he laments over the losses of some-thing. 4. Man has been warned and has the full knowledge about the fire of hell but he continues to sin. 5. Man believes in the reckoning of the hereafter but still he persists in amassing wealth. 6. Declaring his belief in the unity and oneness of Allah, yet man remembers others beside Al-lah. 7. Man believes in jannah but still finds pleasure in the idle pursuits of this fleeting world.

Five things to reflect upon. O ! you Muslim who are …..

Desirous to drive large, shiny cars, REMEMBER: you will be driven one day as a horizontal passenger.

Wild and crazy over expensive cloths, REMEMBER: you will end up in just a “KAFN”

Recklessly sacrificing everything to construct beautiful homes and palatial mansions, REMEMBER: the graveyard “PIT” – one’s real home.

Greedily devouring tasty dishes and all types of extravagant delicacies, REMEMBER: one day YOU will be the meal for ants, worms and other insects.

Aspiring for fame, fortune and bright lights, REMEMBER: the awaiting darkness and loneliness in the grave. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Husband & Wife

The relationship between the husband and wife is a very tender, loving and pure relationship. They are in reality the "garb" of one another. Thus , it is the duty of each to be protective over the life, property and modesty of one another. It is ne cessary for them to realise and understand their mutual duties as a couple. They are two bodies join ed by the soul. The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated that if a husband was pleased and conte nt with his wife when she passed away, then she will e nter Paradise. The explanation of one Hadith is that if a husband passes the night displeased wi th his wife, she invokes upon herself the Curse of Allah and the Angels. In another hadith, the Pro phet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, "If I had commanded prostration for any other than Allah, I w ould have commanded the wife to make Sa-jdah to the husband." However, since Sajdah is none but for Allah, a woma n cannot prostrate to her husband but she should be obedient towards him. The husband is the provider and protector of his wife. He should thus fulfill her needs and k eep her pleased. "The best from amongst you is he who is best to his wife." (Hadith) If there is a conflict, the husband shoul d not be hasty to give her Talaaq (Divorce), but should cool his temper, t hink carefully and take the opinion of elders before making any decisions as Talaaq is not someth ing which is liked. The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated: "From those actions that are Halaal, the most disli ked is Talaaq." The wife should also be patient with the husband. She s hould show her gratitude for anything that he does. She should understand him and not be lavish w ith his wealth. She should always be neatly attired and loving. She should love and respect his family. That house in which there is daily con-flict is living hell and that home in which there i s love and respect is a blessed home. The Laws of Shari'ah: If a man passes away, the wif e may give him Ghusal, but the husband can-not give his deceased wife Ghusal, nor can he touch her deceased body without a cloth. He can, however, see her face. It is common in the public t hat the husband cannot carry the wife's Janazah or lower her into the grave. This is false. He may see her face, carry her Janazah and lower her into the grave.

Duty towards Children In as much as obligation towards parents has been s trictly enjoined upon children, Islam has also instituted duties towards children. The Holy P rophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) laid down some guiding factors with regard to the upbringing and maintenance of children, especially fe-male children. The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) had raised the status and position of females in Society, and promised the Muslims success and high reward for upbringing their daughters with the necessary education and training to face marria ge and lead a decent family life. The father has been instructed to provide for the m aintenance of his infant children, whilst both parents have been instructed to provide education f or their young children beginning first with the study of the Holy Quran. Of all the properties and which children inherit from their parents, the best is good manners. Parents have been instruc ted to spend for the well-being of their chil-dren. The Hadith states there is no better cause th an to spend for the well-being of their children. If in the case of the father's death, the mother sp ends her time bringing up the minor children till they attain maturity, instead of taking a second hu sband, that mother has been assured a place in Paradise next to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). There are Ahadith that state that parents should sa lute (make Salaams to) their children when entering the house; and parents should often expres s kindness and affection to their children by hugging and kissing them. LAYLATUL BARAA’AH ( Night Of Salvation)

The 15th night of ‘Shabaan’ is a very blessed night. According to the ‘Hadith “NISF Shareef’, the name of this month is SHA-BAAN”, which means 15th night of Sha-baan. The reason for this special night to attain its name of “Laylatul Baraa’ah”, meaning the ‘Night of Salvation’. In this night the Barkaat and Acceptance of repen-tance maybe accomplished. Laylatul Baraa’ah in Persian, as well as in Urdu is called “SHABBE BARAAT”“SHABBE BARAAT”“SHABBE BARAAT”“SHABBE BARAAT” It is the night of seeking pardon and re-penting to Almighty Allah, remembering our past sins and sincerely settling the mind that one wil never commit sins in the fu-ture. All the deeds that are against ‘SHARIAH’ must be totally avoided so that our ‘Du’a and Istigfaar’, hopefully, will be accepted. After sunset, you should recite: ‘la hawla la hawla la hawla la hawla walaa quwwata illabillahilwalaa quwwata illabillahilwalaa quwwata illabillahilwalaa quwwata illabillahil----aliyil azeem’, aliyil azeem’, aliyil azeem’, aliyil azeem’, forty times with three Drood Shareef before and after . It is mentioned that by reciting this, Almighty Allah will forgive forty years of your sins and forty ‘HOORS’ will await to serve you in ‘Jannatul- Firdous’. Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa(ra) says “ one night which was the 15th of Shabaan, I did not find holy prophet(saw) in the house so I went in search of him. After a long search, I found him in ‘BAQIAH’( the cemetery of Madinah) offering DU’A for the deceased and praying for their forgiveness”. (Baihaq) A special point must be made to visit the cemetery during this night and pray for the deceased buried therein, as holy Prophet(saw) is reported as having visited the ceme-tery on this night and spending a long time therein, lamenting, reading and praying for the deceased.

ZAKAAT Zakaat (welfare contribution) is the fourth pillar of Islam. The Arabic word ‘Zakaat’ means to purify or cleanse. Zakaat is to be paid once a year on savings at the rate of two and a half per-cent (2.5%). This rate applies to cash savings, gold and silver jewellery. Payment of zakaat is a means of keeping our wealth clean of gree and selfishness. Zakaat is one of the basic principles of Islamic economy, based on social welfare and the fair distribution of wealth. In addition to the compulsory payment of Zakaat, muslims are encouraged in the Quran and Hadith to make voluntary contributions to help the poor and the needy, and for social wel-fare purpose. This is called ‘SADQAH’(charity). @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

HAJJ HAJJ is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is the visit to “AL-KA’ABA”, the house of Allah in Macca, once in a lifetime for those muslims who can af-ford to make the journey. It is performed during the period from the 8th to 13th DHUL-HIJJA, the twelve month of the Islamic calendar. The ‘KA’ABA’ was built by Hazrat Ibrahim(as) and Ismail (as). Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Hazrat Aisha said; ‘I couldn't find Allah’s messenger(saw)one night so I went outside, there he was in Jannatul Baqqi(the blessed cemetery), his hand turned up towards the sky’. Then he said to me; ‘ were you afraid that Allah and his messenger will treat you unfairly’? I replied; ‘ O messenger of Allah , I thought you had gone to one of your( other) wives, he (pbuh) said “ on the night of mid on the night of mid on the night of mid on the night of mid Sha’ban, Allah, Exalted is he, descends to the Sha’ban, Allah, Exalted is he, descends to the Sha’ban, Allah, Exalted is he, descends to the Sha’ban, Allah, Exalted is he, descends to the lowest heaven and forgives more than the num-lowest heaven and forgives more than the num-lowest heaven and forgives more than the num-lowest heaven and forgives more than the num-ber of woolly hairs on the flocks and heards of ber of woolly hairs on the flocks and heards of ber of woolly hairs on the flocks and heards of ber of woolly hairs on the flocks and heards of (the tribe of Kalb)”(the tribe of Kalb)”(the tribe of Kalb)”(the tribe of Kalb)”

Role of wife and mother The two great roles a women plays in life are that of a wife and a mother ,the prophet [s.w.t] ,once said to a group of companions, “the best among you are hose who are the best to their wives” . this shows that islam highly encourages treating the wives well. They should be shown love,,respect and care.to foster the love and the se-curity that comes with marriage, mslim wives have various righs.the first of the wife’s right is to receive dowry, a gift from the husband ,which is part of the mar-riage contract and required for the legality of the marriage. The second right of a women is maintenance. Despite any wealth she may have, her husband is obligated to provide her with, shelter and clothing. He is not forced ,however to spend beyond his capability and his wife is not entitled to make unreasonable demands. Concerning motherhood, the prophet Muhammed salallaahu alayi wasallam said: “ haven lies under the feet of mothers”. this implies that the success of a society can be traced to the mothers who raised it. The first and greatest influence on a person comes from the sense of security , affection and training received from the mother. Therefore , a women having children must be educated and conscientious in order to be a skillful parent. A man came to the prophet [s.w.t] and asked : “who among my kinfolk is worthy is worthy of my good companionship?’ the prophet ,replied : “your mother” three times before saying : “ your father” . this indicates the impact that a mother has in a person’s life. So women are highly honored in this great religion. Islam is a religion that treats women fairly. The Muslim women was given a role, duties and rights 1400 years ago that most women do not enjoy even today in west .these rights are from allah [s.w.t] and are designed to maintain a balance in society :what mat seem “unjust” or “missing” in one place is compensated for or explained in another place.

QIYAAM : RECITING SALAWAT AND SALAAM

WHILST RESPECTFULLY STANDING

Qiyaam-e-Musarrat, or standing up for a person as an expression of happiness;

The origin of Qiyaam-e-Musarrat is derived from the action of the companion of the Holy Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam), as proved from the following Hadith : Hadhrat Uthman (radi allahu 'anhu) said, "The Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) passed away before we could ask him the solution to this problem." Hadhrat Abu Bakr (radi allahu 'anhu) said, "I have already asked him concerning this affair ..." Then Hadhrat Uth-man (radi allahu 'anhu) said (upon hearing this glad tidings from Hadhrat Abu Bakr (radi allahu 'anhu)), "I stood up for him." (Sahih Bukhari).

.Qiyaam-e-Muhabbat, or standing up for a person as an expression of love; The origin of Qiyaam-e-Muhabbat is from the following Hadith: Hadhrat Aisha Siddiqa (radi allahu 'anha) has narrated : “I have never encountered anyone that had emulated the Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa-sallam) in manner, likeness and speech [and with another chain of narrators : I have never seen anyone even come near her with the above qualities] more than Fathima (radi allahu 'anha), may Allah honour her face. When she came in to visit him (the Prophet) he got up to (welcome) her, took her by the hand, kissed her and made her sit where he was sitting; and when he went in to visit her, she got up to (welcome) him, took him by the hand, kissed him, and made him sit where she was sitting”. (Sunan Abu Dawood; Ash’atul Lama’aat)

Qiyaam-e-'Azmat or standing up in honour of a person; Qiyaam-e-'Azmat is derived from the following narration : Narrated Abu Sa 'id al-Khudri (radi allahu 'anhu) : The people of (Banu) Quraiza agreed to accept the verdict of Sa'd bin Mu'adh. So the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) sent for Sa'ad, and the latter came (riding) a donkey and when he approached the Mosque, the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) said to the Ansar, "Get up for your chief or for the best among you !" (Sahih Bukhaari, Vol 5, Chapter 29, Hadith 447)
