Playing opportunities
• Pre-K (Ages 3-4)• Rec (5-10)• Comp (7-18)• Adult League (18+)
• Tonight’s focus on Rec & Comp (5-18)
Traditional Development/Club Model • Rec & Comp functioned independently
• Separate Schedules, Identities, & Methodology
• Spring & Summer seasons led to poor organization, registrations, missed tournaments, and poor player improvement
• Rec relies on Parent Volunteers
• Limits player development (Rec to Comp) & weakens ROI ($)
• Inconsistent results in player & team development• Ex: HS State Championships, ODP players, College Players
• Does this model work for us? Are we providing enough opportunities for players to improve? Are players & parents getting the most/best from us?
• The Answer is: NO

How do we improve? • Since 2016
• We began studying and collective data such as;• Participation: Rec & Comp. Fall vs. Spring
• Noticed Parent Volunteers willingness decreased (time, energy, knowledge, etc)
• Development: Behind other clubs/areas• Spring/Summer – multi season means that coaches can’t get consistent improvement (poor habits)• Also leads to organizational issues
• Quality Control: Fun, Development/Improvement, ROI, Comparison w/ other ND clubs, Compliance• Player Conversions (Rec to Comp)• Feedback from Parent Volunteer (Rec) & Comp. coaches• How many players continued to HS program? To College?• Are we compliant with Governing Bodies? (USSF, USYS, NDSA)
• Ex: Concussion Protocols & USSF/USYS Player Development Guidelines (Birth Year and game #’s)
• The answers led us to start adjusting the Rec & Comp. programs• We added a Pre-Competitive Program (U8)• We added more training opportunities (Rec 1->2 days/wk) • Licensed coaches coached Rec. • More opportunities (Winter) & Need to add more for players to reach potential and gain the greatest ROI.
• After 18 months of experimenting, we conducted a Pilot Program where we integrated Rec & Comp.

Our Solution
• Integration of Rec & Competitive• Organization, Organization, Organization!!!
• One “Summer” Season• Eliminates reliance on Parent Volunteers• Allow Comp/Licensed coaches to interact with
Rec kids and thus increase development = greater return on investment
• Allows club to properly prepare players for comp (when ready), easier transition, language. Similar to Education system
• Universal Schedule (next)• Quality control: Age/Skill based curriculum
based on sound methodology and player development guidelines.
