The Old Town-Orono YMCA program fees are non-transferable and non-refundable. Exceptions may be made for those with a physical diagnosed medical condition. We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule or combine classes that do not have sufficient enrollment in which case a credit shall be issued. No refund or credits are issued for individual classes missed. If a class needs to be cancelled then we will make every effort to notify you in advance. As a rule, make ups for class cancellations are not provided.

WINTER CHALLENGE
The Biggest Mover is an 8-week
weight loss challenge that
emphasizes sensible exercise and

2017-18 Annual Support Campaign
To help as many people as possible access our facility and
programs, the Old Town-Orono YMCA provides an estimated
$80,000 each year in scholarships, which is raised through our
Annual Campaign. This year’s campaign goal is $125,000.
To give you an idea of the impact your gift could have, consider
that your donation would provide:
• $52 per year ($1 per week): Supplies for one month of
an enrichment activity.
• $104 per year ($2 per week): Healthy after school
snacks for one week.
• $260 per year ($5 per week): A 50% scholarship for 8
weeks of after school care for one child.
• $312 per year ($6 per week): An older adult
membership for one year.
• $1,040 ($20 per week): A 50% scholarship for 32
weeks of after school care for one child.

From Feb. 19-25 regular

practices, will not be held. Local
schools will be on vacation and
we will offer full-day childcare
for school-aged children at our
February Vacation Camp.
We’ll also offer gymnastics camp, which will run from 8
a.m.-noon and feature time on all four events, use of the
climbing rope, tumble track, pit, and games. Participants
will need to wear a leotard or gym clothes and bring a
snack and water.
More information on all camp options will be available as

Pickleball
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country,
and at the Old Town-Orono YMCA it’s FREE for MEMBERS on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon in the
adult gym.
We welcome all ages and abilities, and
instruction is available.
Pickleball is a mixture of ping-pong,
badminton, and tennis, and is the
perfect sport for athletes of all ages
who want to stay active with minimal
impact on the body.

HIT THE TARGET! The Old Town-Orono YMCA has partnered with Old
Town Archery & Survival for a program designed to
teach beginners the proper way to use a bow and
arrow. Participants will be exposed to competition
shooting, as well as hunter safety.

Recreational Classes (Ages 5 and up): These developmental classes begin with an introduction to the fundamentals of gymnastics and progress to teaching beginner to intermediate gymnastics skills. These classes are co-ed. They are broken down by ability as well as age.

Boys Gymnastics (Ages 5 and up): Progressive training in gymnastics fundamentals with exposure to boys specific apparatus. Develops strength, coordination, balance, and body awareness to enhance performance in sports.

Stages A & B (Ages 6 months to 3) - formerly Parent Child Program: This program provides the highest quality of early water experiences for children from six months to three years. Program instruction is directed toward helping parents work with their children. One adult must accompany each child.

Stage 1 with Parent (Ages 2 to 5) - formerly Pike With Parent: Similar to an independent pike class, parents are involved with the structure and teaching techniques in the program. Basic skills such as floating, paddling, kicking and water acclimation are introduced to gain independence in the water and prepare your child for the independent swim program.

Looking for a way to stay

Why not swim the English
Channel? It’s 20.7 miles across
the Dover Straight! Join the Old
Town-Orono YMCA winter swim
challenge and keep track of the
laps you swim during each
workout at one of our pools. We’ll create a map for the challenge
and see who can complete it over the course of the session.
Future session challenges will include swimming the Bay of Fundy,
making it around Manhattan Island, and more!
If you successfully complete every challenge throughout the year,
you will receive a YMCA Swim cap and Swim Challenge T-shirt!
How many laps is a mile?
1 mile = 1,760 yards = 72 lengths = 36 laps.
To successfully complete this challenge, you’ll swim 746 laps.

Member Orientations: Our fitness staff is here to help you enjoy our Fitness Center. We will meet with you individually and teach you how to use our equipment. (Sign up at the Fitness Desk).

Fitness Assessment: Are you curious about your current fitness level? If you are, then fitness testing is for you! This program is designed to be completed in two separate one hour sessions.
In the first hour, you will have your body fat, circumference measurements, flexibility, upper body & lower body strength, as well as cardiovascular tested. Based on your results, your Personal Trainer will create a program designed for YOU that will focus on areas you want to see improvement in. The second hour will be devoted to instruction and implementation of your new program!

Semi-Private Group Exercise Training: Need a little extra motivation or attention? Want to make sure you’re using proper technique in the group exercise classes we offer? Unable to attend your favorite class during the time it’s offered? The Old Town-Orono YMCA is now offering semi-private group exercise training. Nutrition Assessment: Learn what fuels you by visiting our on staff nutritionist for a Nutrition Assessment. The nutritionist will meet with you one-on-one for appointments to meet your individual needs in a comfortable, non-judgmental environment.
This program is designed to be completed in two separate one-hour sessions. In the first hour, you will discuss your personal goals, daily eating habits, and your food and drink choices.
In the second hour, you will review a food log that is to be completed after your first session. Based on the data in your food log, your
Nutritionist will work with you to design a program that will focus on exploring healthy changes in your everyday diet.

Open Door Scholarship Program
The YMCA will never turn someone away because of an inability to
pay for services or programs. We encourage anyone with financial
need to ask for a scholarship application at the Y’s Welcome Center.
Scholarships can help with membership dues, Child
Care, Summer Adventure Program, Leadership Camp,
and the After School Activity Program.
