ANNUALREPORT‐2015‐16 Six decades has passed of India’s Independence and still marginalized, dalits, underprevilaged and women are looking hopeful towards government and society for their dignity, eduation, health, livelihood, human rights etc. To fulfill the hope and gaind human values through community participation by dalits and women from underprevilaged communities, a group of youths self suffering from poor social practices, formed a social organization in the year 1998, thus formed Jan Vikas Sansthan.
Jan Vikas Sansthan is a non political, non government, non profit voluntary organization, registerd under Society Registration Act 21, 1860. Since 15 years JVS is actively endevouring Purvanchal Region covering 4 Development blocks in Buxa, Badlapur, and Sikarara and from the year 2014 in Machhalishahar of Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
Since its inception JVS is endevouring for upliftment of dalits, marginalized and underprevilaged communities from backward region for issues related to education, better health for disease free health, deginified social and economic life, access to land rights, human rights and basic requirements of food, clother and shelter.
Considering the above ethis of life and bringing dream true for poors, dalits, underprevilaged communities based on participation and leadership initiatives by men, women, children and youths, our programmatic intervention focuses inspiring them, makein them aware, increase techehenical development, orgnizaing them in groups and make them self reliant. Such programs give rise to values related to Social, Economic, Educational, Cultural and Political throght awareness building ultimately resulting to self confidence and formation of self depended, self reliant, discrimination free society. To fulfill the above objective the organization is commited and ascending towards it mission.a
Objectives of the Organization:
1. To develop National integrity, prosparity and peace. 2. To create adoptable environment for developing education among children. 3. To serve helpless, downtrodden and to create respectful feeling among community for them. 4. To Promote Scientific and techenologies for safe environment. 5. To organize and implement different programs for overall development of weaker sections
and for families living below poverty line. 6. To support national development and social welfare programs/campaigns. 7. To create useful environment in awareness on education, organize dalits and underprivilaged
communities for human life also mainstreaming them with society. 8. To aware and sensitize rural women for their right and entitlements.

Our various development initiatives and efforts are in the line of supporting indigenous people in 250 Gram Panchayats of Buxa, Sikarara and Machhalisahar developmental blocks in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Major Program Eexecuted during the year 2015‐16
District level Workshop on Dalit Musahar Education and Discussion
Dalit –Musahark Siksah Samvad Workshop was organized on 22nd June 2015 at Machhalishahar with joint collaboration of Jan Vikas Sansthan, Jaunpur, SKVS, Kushinagar and Oxfam India, Lucknow assure 60 participants from different villages. The objective of the workshop was to increase insure RTE among dalits and musahar community, better implementation of RTE Act, cent percent enrollment of girls from dalit and musahar communities, improvement in quality of education and child friendly infrastructure development in schools. Role of government and community, media, social activists were identified and shared for better awareness and sensitization on related issue.
School Enrolment and Awareness Campaing under RTE Act 2009
Awareness building exercise on section 12 (1) of RTE Act related to free and compulsory education to 25 percent children in private schools was done from 16th January 2015 to 3rd February 2016 in joint collaboration of Jann Vikas Sansthan Jaunpur and Samudiyak Kalyan evm Vikas Sansthan, Kushinagar in 20 villages of Buxa and Machhalishahar blocks of Jaunpur district.

Awareness Program
The campaign began from Machahalishahar on 20th January 2016 throgh an awareness meeting with dalit community in Basahata village. Mr Sunil Kumar Program Coordinator shared important points of RTE Act viz concept of free and compulsory education to children aged 6 to 14 years, structure of School Management Commiteis, their roles and responsibilities, books, dress, school infrastrufture etc. to increase enrollment, awareness rallies ware also organized during the campaign with participation of people in Buxa and 45 in Machhalishahar. 150 children were identified during the campain and enrolled in schools.
Education Awareness Rally and Debate
Go to School Campaign “School chalo abhiyan” was organized by Jan Vikas Sansthan on 16th September 2015 under Dalit Underprevilaged Livelihood Improvement Program. Awareness building was done on Right to Education Act 2009 and its process and provisions, girl education, re enrollment of droup out girls, roles and responsibilities of School Management Commities and government schemes for beifit of community. The campaigh was done in 8 panchayats‐Jamalpur, Jamuhar, Karaundi, Amara, Umapur, Basahata, Rasoolpur and Kothariw with participation of 960 children 212 women and 128 parents/ guardians covering 8 primary schools. 12 out of school girls are identified and their name list was handed over to nearby school’s headmaster. CBOs in our target areas took initiative to enroll these girls in their concerned schools. Our efforts supported in making 4 women and 7 men SMC members in Basahata, Jamalpur and Karaundi panchayats who continued monitoring of MDM, Quality and centralized Education, enrollment of children etc
Lok Hakdari Morcha and Dalit Akta Manch jointly organized “Kisan Sangarsh Yatra” in 5 panchayts Amara, Karaundi, Basahata, Jamalpur and Kothari from 2nd to 6th May 2015 in Machhalishahar block, Jaunpur. The objective of this yatra was to mobilize and awere community for demanding compensation of crop spoiled by hail storm. It was informa of a signature campaing to get signature of people on public manifest containing 15 demands. The manifesto was signed by 327 people and was handed over to district magistrate, Jaunpur.
Family level Evaluation of losses due to Disaster
Identification of beneficiaries was done between 23rd to 30th April 2015 in 5 panchayats in project area Amara, Kaaraundi, Basahata, Jamalpur and Lothari covering 250 house holds. The data is collected in designed format having information Agriculture land, type of crop protected, alternative source on income other than shared agriculture land, status of food security, facilities provided by government during disaster etc with sharing information on precaution during disaster.

Farmers Struggle Foot March
Kisan Sangharsh Yatra began from Lalmuni Purval in Dehia village of Amara Gram Panchayat on 3rd April 2015. During the march program coordinator Manoj Kumar shared the objectives of the march sparadinig information on crop losses dur to untime heavy rain, hail strorm and typhoon ultimately collecting data affected families, knowing their will and demand to be added in 15 demands in mentioned in charger including advoc acy plan for genuine compensation from government. The volunteers informed community about the demands included in the chartered collected their feedback and getting signature on manifesto in case they agree on that. 11 hamlet level meetings were done during the progam, contacting 220 people. 28 volunreer regualry conducted meeting for the beginning point end point in Basahata panchayat.
Farmers Struggle Cycle Rally
A cycle rally under Kisan Sangharsh Yatra was organized by Dalit Akta Manch on 5th May 2015 in 9 village panchayats Karuaundi, Jamuhar, Amara, Basahata, Rasoolpur, Chachoo, Kothari, Jamalpur and Umapur of Machhalishahar block. 43 volunveers of the rally distributed handbills containing 15 demands related to natural calamities and disaster spreading message to community develop understanding and do advocacy for genuine compensation to disaster affected familes
Signature Campaing and Handbills distribution
Related to natural disaster a charter of demand was prepared and got signed by 327 people through a signature campaing to suppot families affected by the disaster. During the campaign 2500 copies of handbills were distributed. As a result awareness on rights and entitlements of affected people spread among common people raising demand for them.
Distrit Level Charter of Demand
A charter of demand containing 15 demands signed by disaster affected farmers was filed to District Megistrate Jaunpur on 6th May 2015. President of Dalit Akta Manch Mr Shivkumar leaded the 22 members group of farmer representatives demanding compensation of crop spoiled by hail storm. The officer took the issue into consideration and on his orders 281 dalit and underprevilaged families from 5 village panchayats got compensation of Rs 4,60000/‐ against spoil of crop and 7 families affected by fire got Rs 49000 as compensation.
Celebration of Independence Day /Plantation and Cleanliness Program
On occasion of India’s Independence Day on 15th August 2015, a plantation and cleanliness program was organized by Jan Vikas Sansthan, Jaunpur under the project “Dalit Underprevilaged Livelihood Improvement Program” covering 8 Panchayats Kothari, Jamalpur, Jamuhar, Karaundi, Umapur, Rasoolpur, Amara and Basahata in Machhalishahar block. 256 women and 190 men including 3 pradhans participated in the program planting 500 different varieties of saplings. The message spread through the program is that people should not think
Volunteers Training On RTI Act 2005
On 16th September 2015, one day training program was organized by the organization to reaise awareness among members of Dalit Akta Manch (DAM) on Right to Information Act 2005. The training program was organized under the “Dalit Underprevilaged Livelihood Improvement Program”. 20 women and 20 men participants from 8 village panchayats attended the training. Advocate Civil Court Janupur and social activits Mr RameshChand Yadav and Secretary Jan Vikas Sansthan Mr Rajmani were the trainers in the program.
Workshop on Land and Labour Rights
On 29th September 2015, one day workshop was organized by the organization on Land and Laboru Right under “Dalit Underprevilaged Livelihood Improvement Program”. 40 participants from 8 village panchayats participated in the workshop. All the participants gained knowledge on legal provisions related of acts, government orders on land and labour. As a resource person members from Uttar Pradesh Land Development Campaign Mr. Srirampal, facilitate the workshop. As a result 94 landless Musahar families filed application to Sub Divisional Megistrate, Machhalishahar demanding distribution of land in favor of concerned families.
Youth Leadership Developmet Camp
With an objective to increase participation of Dalit and marginalized communities in development process, a six day camp was organized by Jan Vikas Sansthan from 12nd to 17th March 2016 at its Project office with 35 youths from Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich and Ghazipur. The participants were oriented on youth understanding on development and their role in development. The trainers were Mr. Ravindra Kumar Singh, Advocate High Court Allahabad and Mr. Bakkas Siddiqui a youth social activist from Faizabad. All the youths were encouraged on leadership through games, debate, role play etc.
Goatery and Piggery Program
Jan Vikas Santhan supported and linked 15 dalit families and provided a goat to each family similarly 10 pigs to 10 musahar families. All these families were from four village panchayats Jamalpur, Basahata, Umapur and Rasoolpur of Machhalishahar block, Jaunpur. All these animals were distributed under the project Dalit underprevilaged livelihood improvement program. The objective of such program is to link landless families to livelihood through animal husbandary and promote goat and pig bank. As a result of the process 12 new families were benifited with lambs and piglets distributed from increasing mumbers for previois ones.

Grain Bank Program
It is observed continuously by the organization that poverty results major hunger problem in our ares especially among dalits and underprevilaged families. Considering this usual condition the organization facilitated in establishing Grain Bank in 9 village panchaysts under the project Dalit underprevilaged livelihood improvement program. During the Rabi Crop 233 families collected 750 kilograms in their grain bank. To encourage grain bank the organization provided 9 drums to store grains. Presently 7 quantles grain is stored in all.
Sustainable Agriculture Promotion Program
10 farmers from 9 village panchayst of Machhalishahar, Jaunpur were provided Training of Trainers on agriculture based on bio fertilizers. The training was organized by Jan Viksa Sansthan under the project “Dalit and underprevilaged livelihood empowerment program supported by CASA, Lucknow and the training took place in GEAG, Training Center Campeargunj, Gorakhpur facilitated by Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group. Out of this Master Trainers 8 active trainers again provided training to 160 marginilized farmers from 9 village panchayats and encouraged them for bio fertilizer base farming. All these 160 marginilized farmers used 2.48 hectares of agriculture land and their agriculture livelihood was increased by 5 percent.
Participation of Dalit and Marginilized Communities in Self Governance
Dalit and With an objective to raise participation of dalit and underprivileged community in Self governance a four day voter public awareness campaing was organized between 2nd and6th November 2015. During the campaing community meetings, rath yatra with 449 women and 477 men patricipapants, street plays with 487 women and 572 men participants was done. All tgeh participants were from 9 target village panchayats. Being the part of this campaing 1059 men and women had dialogues with candidates who filled a manifesto having promise to imvolve education, health, cleanliness and hygiene in to candidate’s agenda. As a result 12 women ward members and 3 men won the election and were selected as ward memerb and pradhan.
Training of Volunteers on PRI, Provisions and Process of Gram Sabhas
With an objective to increase participation of Dalit and marginalized communities in self governance, One day training on Panchatati Raj Act (PRI), basic provisions and process of Gram Sabha was organized by Jan Vikas Sansthan on 22nd March 2016 at its Project office with 40 participats from project area. The trainer Rajmani trained participants on Planning and Development Committee, Education Committee, Construction Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, Administrative Committee, Water Mamagement Committee, members of all these committies their roles and responsibilities besides panchayat budget and schemes. A brief discussion was made on strategy of public advocacy. All the partipipants gained knowledge and are sensitized on related issues.
Women Land Right legal Education Tranings
Jan Vikas Sansthan with support of Rural Development Institure (Landesa), organized trainings on women land rights legal education in two tehesils Jaunpur and Machhalishahar covering 4169 women from landless families from 128 revenue villages. Patta, kabza, khatauni, social security schemes and provision there in and methods to access all these were main points of sharings in these trainings.
Debate on Human Rights
A debate on human rights was organized in Jamalpur on Machhalishahar and Sujiamau in Buxa block on 10th December 2105 with common efforts of Jan Vikas Sansthan, Dalit Akta Macnah and Nari Sangh assuring participation of 326 men and women. Intensive discussion was made on equality and intregated development of women, abolishing child labour, social security of adolescent girls etc. The participants raised their understanding on related issues.
Confrence on Situations of CBOs
Based on the thought of Jiska Mudda Uski Ladai, Jiski Ladai Uski Aguai, Jan Vikas Sansthan being a organization working for mainstreaming women and children to development, leadership and protecting human rights, it is implementing empowerment programs for women and children. Since 2 years the organization in support on CASA, Lucknow is implementing Dalit‐marginilized livelihood improvement program in 17 villages in 9 Panchayats of Machhalishahar block in Jaunpur district. On 30th March 2016 one day block level conference on situation of Community Based Organizations was done in Machhalishahar in coordination with Dalit Akta Manch (DAM). Members from all 9 existing CBOs participated in the program.
Major Achievements of the organization:
1. Community Based Federation DALIT AKTA MANCH (DAM) is formed under the project Dalit and Marginilized Community Livelihood Imporvement Program. The federation in formed in 17 villages of 9 Panchayats constituting 1304 members form community. Out of the total members 80 men and 80 women volunteers are actively raising voices for Right to Work, Right to Food, Participaton in Village Panchayat, Social Security Schemes from village to district level through taking initiatives and advocacy.
2. Community Based Organiztions are formed under Rural Women Empowerment Project. These CBOs known as Nari Sangh at Panchayat level, Block Pariavi Dal at Block level and Zila Parivi Dal at district level. 1556 members are there in Nari Sangh out of these 98 women are women leaders. With the support of federation the women are actively taking initiative and doing advocacy for Women Right for job in MNRAGA, Right to food with PDS, women participation in open meeting of village panchyats, Social Security and other schemes for them.
3. 381 Adolescents in Buxa and 327 in Machhalishahar are made aware on their Rights on Education, Health, Gender Discrimination, Life Skill and their participation is increased.
4. Leadership capacity among women and youth has improved.
5. 356 families of dalit and marginalized communities from 36 Village Panchayat in Buxa and Machhalishahar, demaned for in writing job in MNREGA supported by their federation. 126 families got job cards and 680 families got ration from PDS dealer at per norms and 34 families used and complained toll free number.
6. 40 Self Help Groups are made functional in 40 Panchayats with 700 members and rupees 4 lakhs as savings. These women have become self dependent for social dignity increasing their leadership capacity.
7. Community members from 18 village panchayats in Buxa and Machhalishahar blocks were mobilized to access government schemes under this 124 familes accessed Samajwadi Pension and old age pension, 46 families with Janani Suraksha Yojana and 12 families with Rastriya Parivar Laabh Yojana.
8. 28 identified dropout girls in Buxa and Machhalishahar blocks were re enrolled in schools and 12 out of school girls were enrolled in government Primary Schools. Awareness for education among dalit and marganilized communities in our target area is increases and have sentized on the issue.
9. Total No. of 12,500 Landless, widows and Single womens got land legal litracy training on women land rights issues supported by Landesa (RDI), New Delhi. Dalit and marginalized families were supported in getting patta (land possession by government) on 21 acres land in Bangaon Patti in Buxa and Bangaon Bhumihar in Badlapur blocks of Jaunpur district.
10. Legal and moral support provided in 7 cases related to dalit atrocity.
11. Dalit and marginalized PRI women’s involvement has increased in Panchayat work.
12. Identity and activities of Community Based Organization Nari Sangh and Dalit Akta Manch (DAM) has increased at block and district levels.
13. Participation and involvement of dalits and women in Buxa, Sikrara, Badlapur and Machhalishahar blocks has increased on their rights, equality besides accessing different government programs.
