32- Jane confronts St. John abouthis love for Rosamond.He does something weird (bigshock).

While drawing Rosamonds portrait, Janeencounters St. John. Jane tells him that he

should marry Rosamond.

St. John actually admits to loving Rosamond,but as mentioned in Fridays discussion, he iscommitted to his holy mission and will not allowearthly pleasures to stand in the way.

Before he leaves, St. John tears thecorner of Janes drawing. This baffles

her.

Despite the fact that Jane has takensteps to conceal her identity, it all

unravels in this chapter.

St. John actually tells Jane her own story.

He tells her that it is really important thatJane Eyre be found.

It turns out Jane is the Rivers cousin!!!

She is so pumped that she decides to divideher inheritance between her cousins andherself.

He asks her to be his wife and to follow him to India asa missionary.

Jane agrees to go to India, but declines his marriage

proposal.

St. John apparently doesnt handle rejection well.
