calendar involve working with seniors
•34 of these volunteer opportunities occur at a
Habitat-managed building
•Upwards of 1,800 volunteer slots were created in
2014 for our Habitat sites
•Each program engages approx. six volunteers to
work with 27 residents

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based social services agency. CMAA's
mission is to serve the needs, promote the interests, and enhance the well-being of Chinese and other immigrants and refugees in the Chicagoland area,
and to foster their participation in and assimilation into American society.

Youth Programs
Afterschool Program Currently, 76 students in the 1st through 6th
grades are enrolled in the program, along with 15 teens aged 12 and older.
Family Literacy Program
Young Women Warriors
All-female mentorship programs that serves young women from 12 to 18 years of age.
Workshops discuss racism, the female body, green living, and health and wellness among other topics.
Currently YWW has about 20 members, and 10-15 mentors.
Social Services Programs
Health Education Workshops are held throughout the year on various
health-related issues.
Housing Resource Center
Assist in applying for senior housing Assist in understanding leases and foreclosures,
and provide tenant-landlord conflict resolution services.
Assist for Government Public Benefits’
Applications Energy Assistance (winter heating and summer
cooling) Applying for other benefits including AABD, All Kids,
food stamps, Medicaid, TANF and SSI.
Safety: CMAA provides linguistically and culturally
appropriate assistance to victims of crime
Adult Education Programs
Free English Education
Classes are offered from the literacy level to the intermediate-high, level and meet at many different times throughout the day and evenings.
Free one-on-one tutor is provided for students in need.
Financial Literary Workshops
Educate people on building credit,
saving money, preventing identity theft,
and other pertinent banking topics.
(Vietnamese and Chinese)
Citizenship and Immigration Programs
Free Citizenship Education Helped over 235 students prepare for
their Immigration and Naturalization Service Citizenship exam
Immigration Case Assistance Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
accredited Case assistance for citizenship,
readjustment of status, or petition for family members to come to the United States applications
Voting Education CMAA is actively encourage and help
community members implement their election rights.
