• An online collaboration and support function• Open to anyone from the JANET Community• Particularly aimed at technical staff with responsibility for: networking,

• JVCS installed 2 new multi-point control units (MCUs) in Edinburgh and Bracknell

• Effectively doubles JVCS’s videoconferencing capacity

• Supports a far greater number of high bandwidth multipoint HD conferences simultaneously

• Picture quality on existing SD systems will be improved significantly

• Will purchase 2 more units to place at JANET core locations

• JVCS is the largest national educational videoconference system in the world

JANET Talk Trial Objectives

• To understand how JANET Talk fits into the JANET connected organisations’ IT strategies

• To understand the usage levels of the mix of the various collaboration tools

• To understand the types of usage scenarios for JANET Talk

• To enable JANET(UK) to develop a sustainable business model for JANET Talk based on actual use


JANET Talk

• Call for Participation (Phase 2)

• Trial will run to August 2009

• Up to 100 licences per organisation

• Full range of features (Voice, Video, Shared Whiteboard, Application Sharing, File Sharing, Instant Messaging, PSTN breakout) at no cost.
