We didn’t know what to expect when we launched the first round of online trainings. But the trainings appear to be successful. Not only have we had the opportunity to train hundreds of people in the sector, we have also seen many people returning for future training sessions. Whether this is all of us collectively making it work because of the pandemic, or if this is evidence that people prefer training in this way is unclear. However, we have enough proof points to know that making additional online training available online for at least the first half of 2021 is something we are collectively committed to doing at OrgCode. We will be offering some of our most popular training again, and have added some new offerings as well. Most of these are live trainings. Check out the Recorded Online Training section for details about some training offered at a reduced rate that are pre-recorded.

Book any Live Online Training before January 11 and take 20% off by using the discount code ORGCODE

If you have a group to train, reach out to [email protected] and we can give you a special discount code for everyone to register with one payment, and avoid transaction fees! Register before January 11 and take 10% off the cost.

Among the topics covered: crisis intervention mindset; flexible problem solving and financial supports; maximizing resiliency; setting up where and when to conduct diversion; how to focus on rapid resolution with those that cannot be safely and appropriately diverted; and, data that matters to diversion, prevention and rapid resolution.

While some of these topics are touched upon in the Housing-Focused Shelter training, it is provided in considerable more detail in this webinar.

Positive Youth Development is a policy perspective that emphasizes providing services and opportunities to support all young people in developing a sense of a competence, usefulness, belonging and empowerment. While individual programs can provide youth development activities, the youth development approach works best when entire communities including young people are involved in creating a continuum of services and opportunities that youth need to grow into happy and healthy adults. This training provides training on PYD and strategies that increase the ways in which youth are engaged and participating in program and system design.

Rapid ReHousing and other Housing First programming struggles without the availability of housing. In this one hour recorded webinar, innovative ideas on how to secure housing for housing programs are covered, as are strategies that can be used to cultivate landlord relationships that yield more housing units in the future. It builds upon approaches that have proven to be successful during COVID-19, highlighting techniques used by organizations that have housed hundreds of people during the pandemic, as well as tried and true approaches regardless of whether or not there is a pandemic.

Goals that are meaningful and achievable are the blueprint for future action with program participants. But it can be a struggle. There is a sense of urgency to deal with immediate needs rather than looking ahead. Tasks and goals get confused. Sometimes it feels more like a dream than a plan. Meanwhile, there can be pressure to prove that goals are being reached. This one hour recorded webinar examines the importance of goal setting and how to support goal realization, introduces several tools that can be used in the goal-setting process to assist the program participant and worker, and presents several common dilemmas and potential strategies to overcome them and continue developing and realizing goals.

Being strength-based is essential in maximizing the resiliency of the people supported, and reorients supports away from a deficit orientation to one that builds on unique talents, assets, attributes, knowledge, characteristics, traits and dreams. In this one hour recorded webinar, “being strength-based” is defined, pragmatically demonstrates how to maintain a strength-based approach to engaging people who experience homelessness, articulates what a strength-based case plan aims to accomplish, how being strength-based should inform policy development, and how a strength-based orientation informs how to conduct evaluation and what to do with results from evaluation.
