January 13th 2015

• I took this image at a concert in May 2014, two of my favourites band played that night. Cage the Elephant and Foals – So the image overall had significance meaning to my life because it was one of the most memorable nights of my life (best concert I’ve been to so far), but when I observed the photo further I was able to perceive many different aspects to it:

Community

• Although you cannot see the crowd’s faces, the hands in the air speak for themselves. Hands reach up trying to get a hold of the lead vocalist who is ‘crowd walking.’

• There is not one person in the crowd (if I could remember) that did not have their hands up – it could be because the bands are just very talented live but it also indicated that these people are gathered here for a specific purpose; a sense of a belonging, or community.

Transitional community?

In 1969 during the biggest concert festival phenomena Woodstock, nobody was able to instantly film a performance, yet 50 years later no one is caught without

a phone or camera. This specific part of the photo is interesting because it s diverged transition in between 55 years: the age of technology versus the beginning of rock and roll. Half the crowd has phones, the others are simply there to enjoy the music- signifies metaphorical transition throughout the times, dispersed into one image

Stage persona? Or character?• Tons of fans are screaming for

him, hands are up for a touch, yet he is so dismissive?

• What is he looking at? What is he thinking about?

• Is this an act or is this his actual character/personality

-> From what I can observe, despite being in a famous band, I think he’s a lonely introvert.
