Thank you for your understanding last Sunday with my sitting to preach. My doctor thinks that I have had a n epi- sode of gout. I have never had this before and it is every bit as painful as those who have it describe it to be. Hopefully it will pass quickly and I will be up and “running” soon. This episode reminds me of how sudden things hap-  pen in our lives that seem to throw us for a loop. Bad news, unexpected bills, sudden illness and much more can pop up to catch us off guard. The one constant in the life of the believer is the ever present power and person of Jesus Christ. Jesus manifests Himself in our life in His presence, comfort and healing. He then works in the lives of the believ- ers around us to give us encouragement and compassion. I know this is true for I am experiencing it right now. Thank you Lord Jesus for your presence, thank you my friends for you encouragement and compassion. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday. The start to every new year is a time to renew or begin healthyhabits in your home. I encourage every parent to start a devotionand prayer time with your precious kiddo each night before bed.You will be surprised by the questions they ask and make some

sweet memories in the process. I also suggest each family makeSunday School a top priority. Sunday morning stress is normal,so don't give up. Sunday School is the backbone of a healthychurch and the Bible stories shared on the preschool hallway andin the children's classrooms will stay with your child well intohis or her future. FBC is blessed by so many wonderful families, like yours.
