PADRE’S PONDERINGS

THANK YOU UNDECORATORS – My thanks and gratitude to everyone who helped return all of our parish homes to Ordinary Time! We are so blessed to have such beautiful spaces for worship and it is certainly highlighted during Christmas. Please know that your time and effort are greatly appreciated! ONE ROSE – ONE LIFE – The Knights of Columbus will sponsor their annual One Rose – One Life campaign this weekend at all of our Masses. All donations go to support the Pro-life activities of our local Knights of Columbus council as well as Pro-life activities throughout the state which are supported by the Knights. Thank you for your generous and faithful support. CONGRATULATIONS GACC SECOND GRADERS – Congratulations to our second graders at GACC who celebrated the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time this past week. What a wonderful reminder and invitation to all of us to share in the mercy and love of our God in this beautiful sacrament. STEWARDSHIP STATEMENTS HAVE BEEN MAILED – Statements for your financial stewardship have been mailed. If you do not receive a statement, or have a particular question about our reports for your giving in 2020, please do not hesitate to call the office. GACC BOOSTER CLUB SOUP AND PIE SUPPER – The GACC Booster club will be hosting a soup and pie supper on Saturday, January 23 in the GA cafeteria. Please see page 3 of the bulletin for details. GACC BOOSTER CLUB DRIVE-THRU DINNER – Please see page 3 of this week’s bulletin to find more details about the GACC Booster Club Drive-Thru Dinner. Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions involved, the Booster Club will not be celebrating the annual 125 Dinner, but they will be sponsoring a Drive-Thru Dinner on Tuesday, January 26. The meal will be catered by Graybeal’s. Please note that they are only taking PRE-ORDERS for the meal. CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK BREAKFAST – As of now, we are planning on having the annual Catholic Schools Week breakfast on Sunday, January 31. Please see page 3 of the bulletin for details. ST. BONIFACE PARISH BREAKFAST HAS BEEN CANCELLED – After much discussion and prayer, it has been decided that, due to the uncertainty of current conditions regarding health and public safety, we will be cancelling this year’s St. Boniface Parish Breakfast. We apologize for any inconvenience and pray that we will be able to celebrate with you in the near future! CONGRATULATIONS TO ST. ANTHONY PARISH – Congrats to St. Anthony Parish for surpassing their financial goal for the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. I am very grateful for your faithful stewardship! ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL AS OF JANUARY 11 – If you have not already returned your pledge card for the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, I invite you to please consider doing so as soon as possible. I appreciate that the pandemic has put a strain on many personal economies, but we can all commit to offering our prayer and returning the pledge cards. Having said that, here are the latest results for financial and participation goals for each parish: St. Aloysius = a 31.1% response toward a 36% participation goal and $2,550 pledged toward a financial goal of $4,371; St. Anthony = a 38.5% response toward a 49% participation goal and $810 pledged surpassing their financial goal of $803; St. Boniface = a 30.2% response toward a 36% participation goal and $1,035 pledged toward a financial goal of $3,736; St. Mary = a 18.7% response toward a 25% participation goal and $33,138 pledged toward a financial goal of $45,778. Thank you for your faithful stewardship! If for some reason you are a registered parishioner at one of our four parishes and did not receive a direct mailing from the Archdiocese, please feel free to contact the parish offices as we have extra pledge cards.

2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’” - John 1:38 What are you looking for? Are you wasting your time looking for the material comforts of the world? Or, is your heart longing for something deeper that can only be found by spending time with God? Take time, each day, in silence and ask the Lord what it is that He wants you to do.

All the earth shall bow down before you, O God,

and shall sing to you, shall sing to your name,

O Most High! Psalm 66 (65): 4
