SCRIP SELLERS NEEDED BEFORE AND AFTER
MASSES
SCRIP is a fundraising program that allows
people to buy gift certificates through St.
Francis and the businesses give a percentage
back to St. Francis. Did you know that if you buy SCRIP, you get to decide where
the donation goes? If you buy a $100 Hy-Vee gift card through SCRIP, Hy-Vee
gives 3% back to St. Francis and of that $3.00, you get to allocate $1.50 to your
family for tuition or religious education or even to the preschool! Making SCRIP
available at each Mass provides a simple way to purchase your gift certificates,
but we need more sellers! No former experience is necessary because we are
happy to train you. Please contact Kate Bowermaster for more information at
641-691-4224 [email protected].
GALLON MILK JUGS NEEDED
St. Francis Childcare is looking for gallon milk jugs (rinsed
out with lids replaced) to build an igloo similar to this one!
Please bring milk jugs to the entry of St. Francis Catholic
school. Thank you! Stay tuned for pictures after it’s finished.
TEACHER ACHIEVEMENT
Mrs. Erbes has been attending Creighton University to
receive her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership
with a Concentration in School Administration & Catholic
Schools. Holly recently was awarded The Creighton
Graduate School Dean's Scholarship. This scholarship
Recognizes a graduate student who has an outstanding
record of academic performance, service, and
commitment to Creighton's Jesuit values. Great job, Holly!
HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND
St. Francis students enjoyed an
archway of high fives from Fr.
Michael and Fr. Alan as they were
leaving Mass one day!
Los estudiantes de St. Francis
recibieron unos “high fives” de los
sacerdotes mientras saliendo de la
misa.

nosotros. ¿Cómo podemos
contrarrestar la "globalización
de la indiferencia" que nos
afecta a todos, hasta cierto
punto u otro? ¿Cómo
trabajamos más plenamente
para promover una Iglesia
para todos?

Baptism is the basis of
the whole Christian life,
the gateway to life in the
Spirit, and the door
which gives access to the

Through Baptism we are
freed from sin and reborn as sons and

members of Christ, are incorporated
into the Church and made sharers in
her mission. (CCC 1213)

IN HONOR OF RECENT NATIONAL MIGRATION AND REFUGEE WEEK
During the first full week of each year, the Catholic Church in the United States
celebrate National Migration Week. The theme for this year’s celebration was
“Promoting a Church and a World for All,” which reflects the need for Catholics to be
inclusive and welcoming to all our brothers and sisters. It is a call for unity to stand in
solidarity with and care for those who are excluded and marginalized. Welcoming the
newcomer and promoting a church for all counters what Pope Francis has referred to as “a globalization of
indifference.”
We call for a Church and society that welcomes, protects, promotes, and integrates all, including immigrants and
refugees. These four verbs have been used by Pope Francis to frame our obligations toward migrant
populations.
If you have a chance, watch “Human Flow”, a 2017 documentary directed by Ai Weiwei, which shows the world’s
migration and refugee reality in a very comprehensive way. It is available on Prime
Video.
Please take some time during this week to reflect on how we can better welcome,
protect, promote, and integrate migrants living in our midst. How can we counter the
“globalization of indifference” that affects us all, to some degree or another? How do
we work more fully to promote a Church for all?
