We have too many presents, Too much to eat, Too much to Drink, Too much TV and Too much time on our hands, Too many people to buy for etc….. Yes it is a time when we seem to throw logic out the window and blow the cost, it’s family after all and what would they think if I didn’t give them a present. Have become slaves to our own ego and image and want every- one to think well of us. We gather in our comfortable houses and praise and thank each other for the gifts and revel in our security, after all God is on our side and gives us many bless- ings. Is this what God requires of us? Is this what gospel is about, enjoying ourselves or as the scripture puts it, “Eating, drinking and being merry.” No doubt when we see our bank statements in January we’ll start to count the cost, in monetary terms and also count the calories and make some resolutions for the new year. I for one have been taking stock and as with all new years, we make plans for our next holiday, we may even look at getting a new car or even moving house to better ourselves. So where are we heading this year? As a Businessmen’s fellowship we have to make plans for outreach, tracts, meetings, conferences. There are constant needs to be met in the practical running of the Fellowship and for the outreach both in the UK and abroad. So as we consider this new year, so let us come before the Lord and ask Him individually what he would have us give towards the work this new season to continue the work He has begun in us. Whether it be monetary, time, resources and as Paul says “ And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. (1Cor 12V26), and Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Php 2:3 . Not forgetting “We also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Heb 12:1 South Lakes Chapter held a pro- motional Dinner was held in Grange Over Sands. Sixty three (63) people attended this meet- ing and approximately half of the number of people who attended were non-Christians. Tim Farron MP gave testimony, it was en- couraging to learn that around 40 MPs meet regularly for prayer. At the end of the meeting, Tim was available and spoke to lots of people. The Lord gave our Presi- dent Ron Ainscough a word of knowledge about someone suf- fering from depression. This per- son was prayed for and set free! Praise the Lord!

BRETHERN, I WRITE NO NEW COMMANDMENT TO YOU Christmas and the holiday time often reminds me of the terrible “Twos”. We have too many presents, Too much to eat, Too much to Drink, Too much TV and Too much time on our hands, Too many people to buy for etc….. Yes it is a time when we seem to throw logic out the window and blow the cost, it’s family after all and what would they think if I didn’t give them a present. Have become slaves to our own ego and image and want every-one to think well of us. We gather in our comfortable houses and praise and thank each other for the gifts and revel in our security, after all God is on our side and gives us many bless-ings.
