MASTERPIECE CLASSIC - DOWNTON ABBEY SEASON 3
The Great War is over and the long-awaited en-gagement of Lady Mary and Matthew is on, but all is not tranquil at Downton Abbey as wrenching social changes, romantic intrigues, and personal crises grip the majestic English country estate. Shirley MacLaine joins the much-loved cast, which includes Dame Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens, Michelle Dockery, Jim Carter, Penelope Wilton and many others. “No family is ever what it seems from the outside,” observes Smith’s shrewd character. Series airs Wednesdays at 7 p.m., starting January 16.
NOVA: SECRETS OF STONEHENGE - Dated to the late Stone Age, Stone-henge may be the best-known and most mysterious re l ic of prehis-tory. Every year, a million visitors are drawn to Eng-land to gaze upon the famous circle of stones, but the monument’s mean-
ing has continued to elude us. Now investigations inside and around Stonehenge have kicked off a dramatic new era of discovery and debate over who built Stonehenge and for what purpose. How did prehistoric people quarry, transport, sculpt and erect these giant stones? Granted exclusive access to the dig site at Bluestonehenge, a prehistoric stone circle monument recently discovered about a mile from Stonehenge, NOVA cameras join a new generation of researchers finding important clues to this enduring mystery. Airs Sunday, January 13, at 6 p.m., and Tuesday, January 15, at 7 p.m.

HUMBLE BEAUTY: SKID ROW ARTISTS documents the abil-ity of art to calm, inspire, ask questions or provide answers, and even help forge entirely new identities. The one-hour documentary follows a group of talented homeless and formerly homeless artists from the area of Los Angeles known as Skid Row, reportedly home to the largest concentration of indigent people in the United States. For four years, the filmmakers chronicled spontaneous moments from the artists' lives, captured intimate interviews and charted the evolution of their artwork. HUMBLE BEAUTY highlights how this tight-knit Skid Row community nourishes these art-ists and helps imbue their lives with meaning. Airs Sunday, January 13, at 9 p.m., and Monday, January 14, at 7 p.m.
CHIHULY OUTSIDE covers nearly half a century of Dale Chihuly's epic out-door installations. The film chronicles Chihuly's first experiments with floating glass on water and using ice and neon, his early work at Art Park in Upstate New York and his decade-long exploration of large-scale installations at 12 of the world's preeminent botanic gardens and conservatories. Among many highlights, the hour-long documentary traces the development of Mille Fiori, a 56-foot "garden of glass" first exhibited in 2008 at the DeYoung Museum in San Fran-cisco, and his most recent work, Chihuly Garden and Glass, which opened May 2012 at the foot of Seattle's iconic Space Needle. What emerges is a portrait of an innovative artist always seeking new ways to adapt his medium to natural spaces, propelled by a desire to move, provoke and inspire viewers. CHIHULY OUTSIDE completes a trilogy of films exploring Chihuly's work, which began in 2008 with “Chihuly in the Hotshop” and continued with 2010's “Chihuly Fire & Light”. Airs Sunday, January 27, at 9 p.m., and Monday, January 28, at 7 p.m.

NATURE: CUBAN ACCIDENTAL EDEN - This small island's varied landscape, its location in the heart of the Caribbean and its longstand-ing place at the center of Cold War politics have all combined to pre-serve some of the richest and most unusual natural environments of the hemisphere. For decades, Cuba's wild landscapes lay untouched while its Caribbean neighbors poisoned or paved over their ecological riches. Now, Cuba's priceless treasures are about to face an onslaught. Tourism is already on the rise and most experts
predict tourism will double once the U.S. trade embargo ends. What will happen to Cuba's stunning biodiversity - an island filled with amphibians, reptiles and the most biologically diverse freshwater fish in the region? Airs Thursday, January 31, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, February 3, at 5 p.m.
Animals can take you anywhere in science! In WILD KRATTS “LOST AT SEA,” a one-hour special airing Monday, January 21, at 2:30 p.m., and Sunday, January 27, at 1:30 p.m. on PBS KIDS, Martin and Chris Kratt embark on under-the-sea adventures that bring science to life for the whole family.

BETWEEN THE LINES - Trevor Blake built numerous companies starting with only a few hundred dollars and turned them into 100 million dollar businesses. But his book, Three Simples Steps, is neither a get rich quick plan, nor the words of a self-help guru. It is a pragmatic guide that impacts all aspects of life and although the principals may be simple, as Trevor states, they are not easy, but effective. Airs Saturday, January 26, at 8 p.m., and Wednesday, January 30, at 9 p.m.
MARIO FRANGOULIS LIVE WITH THE BOSTON POPS - On June 21, 2012, Mario was joined by the legendary Boston Pops Maestro Keith Lockhart conduct-ing Mario Frangoulis Beautiful Things concert event at Boston Symphony Hall, sponsored by The Horatio Alger Asso-ciation of Distinguished Americans. The Mario Frangoulis Live with the Boston Pops concert event at Boston Symphony Hall featured a dynamic program based mostly on the Mario Frangoulis Beautiful Things album, supplemented with duets, and music from Mario Frangoulis' broader repertoire. As part of the event, Mario Frangoulis invited special guests: Hayley Westenra, Alkistis Protopsalti, George Perris and Stephan Moccio to join him on stage for a dynamic and unforgettable evening of contemporary classical-crossover and world music. Airs New Years Day at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, January 2, at 10 p.m.; Saturday, January 5, at 9 p.m.; and Sunday, January 6, at 6 p.m.
The annual LAUSD BAND AND DRILL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP is a showcase designed to highlight the achievements of LAUSD High School Music and Dance Teams as they present a joint perfor-mance in front of spectators. Each is adju-dicated based on their music performance and visual performances. Airs Sunday, January 6, at 12 p.m., and Monday, January 21, at 6 p.m.

on, but all is not tranquil at Downton Abbey as wrenching social changes, romantic in-trigues, and personal crises grip the majestic English country estate.
