NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Howdy brothers and sisters, the holidays are done and we are getting ready to settle in for a long winter. Winter can be slow in the activity department for some of us who like to do things outside. I know that some of our brothers who do construction work have extra free time; I like to do fishing, and just being outside. I know that there are things to do in the winter like skiing, snowmobiling, and things like that, but I just cannot get into the cold weather stuff.

Your chapter should have already received a letter from Sam about the Chapter President of the Year award and you should be thinking as a chapter of putting your president in for it. The prestige that is given to the person is a great honor. The Chapter Presidents are the connecting links that solidify our fraternity. This award is one way for our fraternity to single out one of our exceptional brothers for praise and recognition for his deeds.

This year marks the 40th year for the award. The first brother to win the award was Gilbert Wellman from Gamma Theta, Danville. Since that time, it has been awarded 42 times. In the years 1979 and 1992 it was giving twice. 7 times the winners have come from Beta Eta, Winchester, but Florida Alpha Lambda has a combined number of 10 (4 from Alpha and 4 from Lambda and 2 after they combined). Indiana has 20 brothers with the honor, Florida has 15, and Mississippi has 4 leaving Ohio, Alabama, and Georgia with one apiece.

To be called Mr. Phi Delt takes a special person. I did the count and out of 42 Chapter President of the Year 9 are PNP, 6 are Emirs, and 3 are both PNP and Emir with those being Jim Cressman, Scott Dull, and Jim Dodd. Right now there are 2 sitting on the SEC: Jeff Woolf and Chris Linsinbigler.

Chapters, you need to get the application for the Chapter President of the Year filled out and turn in by March 1 and maybe you can have the next Mr. Phi Delt.

Candie and I want to apologize early for not making down to River Ranch this year. We made it the last two years and we want to make it a yearly tradition, but with our Brazil trip in March we cannot afford both. We will miss going, for it is like a mini convention in the middle of winter. It’s one of these events that every Phi Delt should try at least once. You will love it! Brian

Happy New Year Broth-ers and Sweethearts! Wow another year gone already! I don’t know if it’s me or maybe it’s just the weather, here it is the first part of December and we still have 60 degree weather, kind of feels like one of my southern Brothers. For us Yankees, we need snow and ice to let us know the year is al-most over. The only hint I had was Brother Butch Marshall hit our weekly drawing and being a snow bird, he wasn’t signed up. Well so now then, what does the New Year have in store for us? Brother Jeff Woolf has a chapter chase set for Jan 12th, sounds like a fun time! Jacki and I will be go-ing. The plan is to hit seven chap-ters over a two day period. Hope-fully it can become an annual or semiannual event, the South has River Ranch and the North needs to have something and maybe this can be it.

Anything that encourages Broth-erhood between chapters needs to be supported and well attended. This type of event removes most of the issues with traveling, it cuts cost down for those on a tight budget. Those Brothers and Sweethearts who may partake a little heavy on the adult beverages need not worry about driving with us caravanning, each vehicle will have a designated driver. So don’t

1. Stay positive. You can listen to the cynics and doubters and believe that suc-cess is impossible or you can know that with faith and an optimistic attitude, all things are possible.

2. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement:My purpose is_______________________.

3. Take a morning walk of grati-tude.I call it a “thank you walk.” It will

Hello from South Flor-ida. With the beginning of the new year many new c h a l l e n g e s also begin.

I encourage all newly-elected chapter officers to show other chap-ter members that this is a serious job you were elected for and lead by example. New leadership can bring new ideas and with that a new sense of chapter brotherhood. Also take pride in running your meetings by ritual and any new installation ceremonies with dignity and pride.

I hope to see some new faces at our River Ranch annual meeting in February and Southern District at Fl Nu in April. Also the spring SEC meeting will be at Fl Nu after the morning Southern District meeting on Saturday Apr i l 20 th 2013. Members help SEC out by buying your 20/20 tickets from Jeff Woolf so your in the drawings to win some cash.

Also chapters, don't forget the Cir-cle of Excellence award. Send completed applications and paper-work to me to be eligible. Re-minder to chapters nominating their President for the Annual Chapter President of the year award have it to me completed by March 1 2013. I hope this year we will see growth in membership, new leadership in the different chapter elections and above all brotherhood.

Welcome from the Hospital-ity Chap-ter,

The New Year is upon us. We all have New Year’s resolutions for ourselves and our Chapter House. Some will follow through on them; oth-ers will let them fall to the way-side. Planning for your Phi Delta Kappa Chapter House is a very important step for a good year. Planning 3 months out or the whole year up front for events, resolutions always seem to evolve with input from brothers for a team effort that makes the Chap-ter House a better place for all.

tune out all the distractions and focus on these actions.

14. Implement the No Complain-ing Rule.Complaining is like vomiting. Af-terwards you feel better but every-one around you feels sick.

15. Read more books than you did in 2012.I have heard of a few good ones!

16. Get more sleep. You can’t replace sleep with a double latte.

17. Focus on “Get to” vs “Have to.”Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do. Life is a gift, not an obligation.

18. Each night before you go to bed complete the following state-ments:I am thankful for __________.Today I accom-plished____________.

19. Smile and laugh more. They are natural anti-depressants.

20. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life, so make the most of it and en-joy it.

The ‘Chapter Chase’ is on and scheduled for January 12th. I hope a good many of you can join us for some good times and brotherhood.

20/20 is underway and the first early bird drawings will have taken place by the time this is printed. Early response has been fair, but there is a lot of room for improve-ment. ( and a lot of money yet to

be given away ). If you don’t want to spend that much money by yourself, split it with some friends. Remember, if you buy 5 chances ($100.00 ) you get five bonus numbers and your chapter gets a bonus number. That is eleven chances to win. Also, chapters, my home chap-ter Beta Eta matches the first $200 bought by our members. What better way do you have to support Phi Delta Kappa and have a chance to win?

Until next time,Jeff Woolf

MS Alpha wishes all the Chapters a great New Year!

MS Alpha had a great Thanksgiv-ing, Christmas, and a very Happy New Year. On Dec 6, we had elections for 2013 and 2014 our new officers for the year are:

President:Terry RushVice President: Johnnie KingMaster of Ceremonies: Andrew BatemanTreasurer: Greg BaucumSergeant of Arms: Jimmy GarrettInner Guard: Norman BatemanOuter Guard: Johnnie Ray KingSecretary: Gregory Trombly

We are proud to have two father and son teams for our officers. Family and friends and Brother-hood is what our PDK is all about.

I look forward to working with everyone and know that each year we accomplish many things and overcome our differences pulling together to serve our Phi Delta Kappa.

MS Alpha is very proud to have received from Miller Light a new neon light that has Phi Delta Kappa glowing very boldly. While finding the right place to hang it, many members said we need to bolt it down before the next National function at the chap-ter house, I wonder why? MS Al-pha is offering one drink chip re-ward for the safe return of our Red Bull Dogs!

I look forward to River Ranch and Spring SEC, hoping to see more brothers there. Remember visiting another chapter house is an adven-ture in Brotherhood and enriches the soul. Every time you visit a

H a p p y N e w Year to everyone! I write this a few days be-fore the predicted “End of the World” by the Mayan civilization. So I guess if you are reading this the World is still here and I say “Ha, another Y2K (remember that one) scare foiled by man’s ability to rise above poor predictions and innuendo.”

I am predicting that there were some cults or other groups of peo-ple out there who ended their ex-istence on this Earth simply out of the fear of end of the World. It is due time for our Federal govern-ment to fix the budget and hope-fully the fiscal cliff has been avoided. We need the USA to prosper in the near future. We can’t keep digging a debt hole

that can never be filled. Too many folks feel they are entitled to handouts for their whole lives.

I don’t know the solution to this problem but it appears to be sys-temic with many possible an-swers. I sure hope it gets fixed soon. Maybe the Chinese have come to the realization that they need our country to financially survive so we can pay off our massive monetary debt to them. I doubt it, but it is possible. Hope-fully the New Year brings new hope and prosperity to everyone.

A group of my Beta Nu brothers and I traveled the 30 or so miles north to Peru the other night to visit and see our brothers at the Lambda Chapter. I can still say that no matter which chapter house I visit, I always find great Phi Delta Kappa men!

This chapter is still growing and more and more activities are be-ing planned. That is the proper recipe for success. A few years ago, surviving was the goal of their Chapter and now thriving is in their present and future. Great job brothers! I promised the brothers several more trips to visit their Chapter House. I am sure a social dinner visit, with Sarah in tow, is in the future. You just have to love success stories.

Sarah and I are looking forward to the planned Chapter Steeple Chase that Brother Jeff Woolf is spearheading. I still have not been to the Zeta Eta Chapter House in LaPorte. It is the only Chapter House in Indiana that I have not had the pleasure of visit-

chapter, you make more friends and understand what being a true Phi Delta is all about. We are at 928 members and hope to break into the 1000 mark soon, so it is important to recruit new mem-bers. Everyone knows someone at work, a neighbor, or someone else who you could invite to a PDK event that could lead to a new member! MS Alpha just had two members reinstated at our last meeting.

Cracker CornerDavid Rieker

Hello again from cracker coun-try. My wife and I got tired of the heat in Florida and since we were both natives and never en-joyed the pleasant northern cli-mate, we sold out everything and moved to northern Indiana. Finally, on December, 8th the first snow we’d ever seen started falling. So my wife and I sat by our picture window and watched the huge, soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses picture print. It was soo roman-tic, we felt like newlyweds. We just love snow!

The next day, Dec. 9th we woke up to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Moving here was the best idea I ever had! So I got out my new snow-shovel and moved the snow off the walk and driveway. It felt

ing. By the time we get to Michi-gan City, I am sure I will be more than ready for some Polish Nyquil and the brotherhood of the Gamma Lambda brothers and their sweet-hearts. This should be a total blast of a weekend and is such a great idea that I can’t believe it is some-thing new.

We have started a game night on Thursdays at Beta Nu to get some more involvement and brotherhood at our Chapter House. So far it has been a pleasant experience and a lot of fun. Wii bowling on the big screen and games like Apples to Apples and Settlers of the Catan are being enjoyed. We even got the ping pong table out one night. I sure wish more Beta Nu brothers would come out and enjoy the fun. We even take turns providing food for the night. Nothing fancy (well yet) to eat just good ole American fare, pizzas, fried chicken, spa-ghetti, hamburgers, etc. Our Chapter needs more involvement to survive. I would sure hate to see Beta Nu go under due to a lack of participation of its brothers. Just a little more participation from ALL brothers and members will get things back to being fine. Staying away from the Chapter House and just paying your dues just does not cut it financially for the Fraternity. It never has and never will.

The weekend of December 7th to 9th was WE CARE WEEKEND in Kokomo. Phi Delta Kappa broth-ers their family and friends occupy two intersections in town with buckets to collect loose change and paper money. Again we collected over $10,000 for WE CARE. Our

good, breathing that brisk, clean air. Then a snowplow came by and covered up the sidewalk and blocked the driveway. So I went back out again with my shovel. What a wonderful life!

By Dec. 12th the sun had melted all our wonderful snow. What a terrible disappointment. However my neighbor Bob, told me not to worry. “we’ll defi-nitely have a white Christmas.” Not to have snow on our first Christmas in our new home would be awful. Bob said “by the end of winter we will be tired of snow.” That’s impossi-ble! He’s a nice man, but a little naive.

Hallelujah! December, 14th. Snow, lovely snow! Eight inches last night and still fal-ling. The temperature dropped to five degrees above zero. The snow and crisp air makes every-thing sparkle. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the sidewalk and driveway. This is the life! Then the snowplow came back again and covered everything up. Well, I didn’t realize there would be this much shoveling, but I am certainly getting is shape this way

By the next day, the 15th, the forecast was for 20 more inches of snow. So I quickly went down and traded in my van on a 4x4 and had snow-tires mounted on my wife’s car. I bought two more snow-shovels and stocked the freezer. My wife wanted to buy a wood stove for heating and maybe to

total this year was $10,800. That will definitely help some underprivileged children in Howard County have a Merry Christmas. This was the 40th

year of WE CARE. It is one of the events that make me proud to call Kokomo home. Thank you to PNP and Emir Jim Myers for all of his time in or-ganizing the brotherhood into two hour work shifts for the weekend. Too bad some of our members did not participate. Thank God for the brothers who did.

warm up food in case the power goes out. But I thought that was kinda silly.

One more day has passed, it’s the 16th and we’re in a damned Ice-Storm! You can’t see 10 feet in front of you! I tried to put salt on the walk-way and fell on my arse. I thought Id broken my tail-bone. My wife thought it was so funny she laughed till she cried. I think it was hysteria.

Well, it’s the 18th and some of the pain has gone from my back but it’s still way below freezing and now the power has been off for over 5 hours. We had to pile blankets on the bed to stay warm. There’s nothing to do but avoid the wife and try not to irritate her. I guess I should have bought that wood stove, but I won’t admit it to her (I hate it when she’s right!) Maybe it’s letting up. We’re only getting flurries now. Those ice storms make shoveling almost impossible. The snow plow came by again. If I could just get his timing down, it might help.

Well, I had just about had caught up when on the 20th we had another 14 inches of the glorious “widow maker.” More shoveling. So I checked the neighborhood to find a kid to shovel. Everyone said they were all too busy playing hockey. I think they were ly-ing. So I went back to see if any snow-blowers had come in. Some had, but were sold out immediately. I think they

were lying. Bob said, I must keep shoveling or the city will do it and then bill me for it. I think he’s ly-ing.

Well, Bob was right about a white Christmas. Because here it is, the 22nd and 13 more inches fell today. Shoveled and shoveled and then I had to pee. Took me 45 minutes to get out of my clothes and ready to start again, then here comes that da#$ snow plow again. The idea made me so tired I gave up and started thinking bad thoughts about that snow plow driver. Later I asked Bob about his snow blower. He said he didn’t have time and he wouldn’t lend it out. I think he was lying!

Only two inches today, the 23rd. My wife reminded me that the Christmas decorations for the front of the house should be put up. (Is she nuts!?) I said, “why didn’t you mention this earlier?” She said, “I did a month ago.” I think she’s ly-ing!

December 24th. Six more inches, packed so hard by that stupid snow plow I broke my last shovel. I thought I was having a heart attack! I’m starting to have dreams about how to do away with that snow plow driver. Then tonight my wife asked me to join her and some other neighbors to go out and sing Christ-mas carols and then open presents. However, I couldn’t because I was too busy timing the snow plow arri-vals. Merry dam#@ Christmas, Twenty more inches of the #$%#! Slop. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil! Then to make things worse, that asinine snow plow driver comes by taking up collec-tions for worthy causes. When I

saw him, I lost it and threw my broken shovel at him. He tripped and fell, putting a bump on his head. That’ll teach him! My wife thinks I’m having a breakdown. I think she’s an id-iot!

It’s the 26th and still snowed in. Why did I ever let my wife talk me into moving up here? It was all her idea! Here it is, the 27th and the temperature has dropped to 20 below and the pipes have frozen. Somewhere I heard that the earth was warm-ing. It must have forgotten this place.

It’s now the 28th. Warmed up 10 degrees, to 10 below. Still snowed in. My wife and I aren’t speaking. Haven’t seen that stu-pid snow plow for a while. Holy crap!! 10 more inches and it’s only the 29th of December. Bob came over and warned me that “if you don’t remove the snow and ice from your roof, it will cave in.” I wanted to know what kind of fool did he take me for and to quit harassing me! The nosy axx!

The next day, the 30th, the roof caved in. Then, as I was won-dering what else could happen, a man came to the door and told me I was being sued by the snow plow driver. It was at this point that my wife decided to go home to her mother. Then I heard that another snow storm was headed our way. So, on the 31st, that’s when I set fire to what was left of the house. Hee! Hee! Hee! No more shoveling!

Hello From The SweetheartBy Diana Dull

Hello from the National Sweet-heart, better known as “the girlfriend”. National Sweet-heart Tour 2012 continues! This month I want to take time to brag on our chapter, Beta Eta.

We have been busy this fall and into the Holidays. We started out with Mardi Gras and continued with Halloween, Country and Western and Night before Thanksgiving dance. By the time you read this we will have had Family Christmas, Christmas Eve Happy Hour, and New Years Eve. To say our Chapter stays busy would be an understate-ment, but I believe that most of the chapters are this way. Which is not a bad thing! It is good that the Brothers and Sweethearts are able to get to-gether and enjoy good times.

Now for the bragging! I am very proud of our Men’s and Ladies group, for the time and money they put into helping two families who needed some extra help this year. The women began by raising money at the Mardi Gras by selling raffle tickets for gift cards and continued to raise more money by sponsoring a Craft Show in the Ballroom at the Chapter House. Our goal was to raise $1000 to sponsor two families and both events were successful!! We con-tacted the local Food Bank to find the families who were in

as we grow with this fine PHI DELTA KAPPA Fraternity.

We've had some very busy last couple of months at the chapter house with some great socials, initi-ating several new members who I know and trust will be great BROTHERS, not only just for us at great time FL-NU but the whole fraternity in general !! Welcome Brothers DEAN, STEVE, and CHRIS. We also have several brothers with some great ideas and full of vim and vigor. So glad to see it and to be a part of it. The spirit of brotherhood has really taken off around here. GREAT JOB !

I can't begin to thank all of the brothers who with their experience and the donation of their time, made all of our repairs and renova-tions to the chapter house but for spear heading the projects thank-you JIM, MIKE, TOUMO, COSMO, RICHARD, and GARY. I know I missed many brothers who were also here, I can't thank you all enough. We still have a lot more to get done before Southern District, the third week-end of April.

I hope to see as many brothers as possible at River Ranch the week-end of February 22nd and 23rd, which will be hosted by FL AL-PHA LAMBDA. Come on down and support it. You know you want too ! We're going to have a blast enjoying the weather, but most im-p o r t a n t l y t h e f e l l o w s h i p among BROTHERS.

Sorry so short this month and I still ask are you a fan or extin-guisher. Proud to be a Phi Delt. Till next month Chris

January, 8th and I’m back down south in Dade City. I’m sharing my room with a quiet man in this state-run nursing home. I’ll find out how to get that Snow plow driver some day. Now it’s time for my little blue pill.

Now, for fiction and fact from Phi Delt Almanac. A panel was needed to figure out the impor-tance of “deciding.” Of coarse Phi Delts are good at that, so guess what? We were chosen. We determined that when you’re faced with making a decision, always ask yourself, What would be the most fun. So, be well and full of he%$#. Dave Rieker.

I hope the Holidays were won-derful to you and your fami-lies. I hope you were able to help someone who needed it as well. If not, charity is a good thing even if it is not the Holi-days!! At least take the time to give someone something that cost you nothing, like a smile or a pat on the back. You will feel blessed for doing it. I know I always do.

So until next month, when I see you on the Chapter Chase, God Bless You and Yours!!

need and then proceeded to contact them. We explained we wanted to buy Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner for them as well as gifts for Christmas for their kids. They ac-cepted our help and provided us with lists. The men gave us an ad-ditional $500 to help buy the food, gifts, and also Christmas trees for both families. They came to the Chapter House and picked up their Thanksgiving meal and were very grateful for all we are doing for them. As I write this, I just got home from delivering the trees to the families and others have taken the lists for the 10 kids and are purchasing their gifts. The ladies club is having their Christmas party on the 12th and we will wrap all the gifts to be delivered. I am so proud of our Brothers and Sis-ters that helped in any way with this. Sometimes we forget about those less fortunate who could really use just a little help to make life a little better.

We have taken another step in helping people by keeping a box for the food pantry at the door of the Chapter House. We plan to keep it there year around and my hope is that it will always be full! This is just a small way to help those in need. I know that the men give money to the Food Bank to help purchase food, but it doesn’t hurt to bring in items personally. The men do other charity through-out the year, scholarships, etc. and I am proud they do. We some-times need to “toot” our own horn in the community so that they know we are not just part of the community but we contribute to it as well.

Happy New Year, hope you have had a wonderful holiday season. With each new year, many decide to create new years resolutions. Are you one of them? If you did, are you really going to stick to the new resolution? Or are you making one with good intentions, but when it gets tough, it will be easy to miss?

Have you made any resolutions for PDK? Like attending more meetings, hosting a social, bringing in a new member, maybe even run-ning for a local or national office? Do any of these sound familiar? What is keeping you from attaining any of these or all of these? Is it the thought of failure? Is it the amount of effort it might take to accomplish any one of these? If you do any research, you will most likely find that any successful person tried and failed at least once and bounced back with another effort which may or may not have been a success. So

the question you have to ask yourself is, “What was the last thing that I tried and it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to?” I know that my last marathon did not turn out as I had hoped it would. It was cold, wet, and it was my worst time ever. How-ever, I finished the race and there will be other marathons for me in the future. What I took away from the race was that proper preparation is required to get de-sirable results. You give some-thing half effort you get half re-sults.

It seems to me that this is the same kind of expectations we have for our fraternity. We want to talk about efforts, but we rarely seem to be willing to plan, prepare, and execute in order to get the desired results.

There are a couple of articles in this issue which show chapters are out in their communities giv-ing back to the community. What are the rest of you doing? How will people recognize your chapter in the community? I know that there are other chap-ters doing things, what are you planning for 2013? Write an ar-ticle and share your story.

Convention is only six months away, are you planning on being there? Some chapters have new officers. Are you willing to fol-low their leadership? Are you planning on writing an article this year for the magazine? You can make a difference, will you make an effort to be a leader? Are you a starter or a finisher?

A Moment with DadBy Rodger Fain Jr.

I had an interesting experience a few days ago that inspired me to set pen to paper (okay . . . fingers to the keyboard). I had taken my 12-yr old daughter Abigail to watch the Kokomo Wildkats play their first basketball game of the season at Memorial Gymnasium. This has become a tradition of sorts for me and my daughter be-cause we both love the sport of basketball. It is also important because as a proud father of a horn-player, I enjoy listening to my 16-yr old son Jerred play in the KHS Pep Band during the game. I don’t care how “tough” you think you are, hearing your son play the trumpet part in the National Anthem in front of a crowd of patriotic Americans adds a whole new level of pride and emotion to the experience.

After the ballgame, my daughter and I were walking back to the car and the light from the street lamps cast our shadows in front of us on the sidewalk as we crossed the bridge over the Wild-cat Creek. Rather unexpectedly, the shadows caught my attention. From the outline of the hat I was wearing to the manner of my gait, I saw in my shadow the outline of my own father; a Phi Delta Kap-pan who crossed the sands of the desert for the final time nearly ten years ago. As I continued to ob-serve the movement of the shad-ows, I saw my father reaching across from the place of many ramparts, holding the hand of my youngest child. In the aftermath

of that moment, it occurred to me that we are never truly apart from the influence of our loved ones. It became equally clear to me that just as all earthly fathers walk with their children; our heavenly Father is always at our side.

The thoughts that had impacted me in that moment led to an epiphany, or moment of clarity, regarding the influence of a father and a child. It became clear to me that my father’s life had shaped nearly every aspect of my own life from the time I was born through adulthood, and was still influencing me even though his earthly tent had been folded for the last time several years ago. From the type of sports I grew to love, to my manner of speech, to the style of hat I wear and the way I walk, I realized that I didn’t just look like my father; but had in fact taken the lessons he taught me and applied them to my own life and my own relationship with my children.

In the days that followed, as I pondered the clarity of that mo-ment, I experienced a renewed awareness of the importance of our actions concerning those around us. Whether we realize it or not, we are serving as mentors to those who watch our lives and our works. Whether for their bet-terment or detriment, our words and manner of life serve to influ-ence those observing our daily walk. As Phi Delta Kappans, we have no greater force for influenc-ing the fraternity and the world than by allowing the virtues of the fraternity to be expressed in our speech and manner of life. In so

doing we become mentors to those around us to the virtues of Phi Delta Kappa.

As a relatively new member of Phi Delta Kappa, I have heard many stories about men who have formed the “backbone” of their chapters and influenced others around them to the degree that stories are told with great fondness long after they crossed the sands for the final time. Many other brothers are remem-bered fondly for exemplifying other characteristics that endear them to the brotherhood. And let it not be thought that such influ-ence requires title or rank. Many well respected brothers are Emirs, National Officers, Chap-ter Officers, etc.; however, I have heard plenty of stories told about those without title who simply “exemplify the true spirit of Phi Delta Kappa”.

I am thankful for such moments of clarity as I experienced, and look forward to getting to know more of my Phi Delta Kappa brothers. I have learned from those in each Chapter I have vis-ited and appreciate the comrade-ship that has been extended by my fraternity brothers. I hope that as time progresses, my brothers will begin to see famil-iar qualities develop in me as a result of the influence of those who display the “true spirit of Phi Delta Kappa”. Until that time, I guess you’ll just have to exercise another virtue . . . pa-tience. Fraternally,Rodger Fain Jr. Vice PresidentBeta Nu Chapter, Kokomo, IN
