New Books Do you ever wonder if miracles really happen in today’s society? We have five books of true stories of God’s Divine Touch. Miracles of Love, Miracles and Rescues, Miracles of Renewal, Miracles and Children, and Miracles and Prayer. These are short stories that celebrate and attest to God’s extraordinary presence in our lives. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is a true story of a World War II survivor Louis Zamperini. This is a story of survival, resilience, and redemption.
Every twelve months as the calendar rolls around to January, we think of the New Year and we think of new beginnings. New beginnings can bring apprehension, but new beginnings can be exciting as well. Just like your parents may have said, “You don’t need to be afraid to try new things.” Sometimes, grabbing hold of the new means letting go of the old. Today I want to encourage you to take hold of what God may have in store for you in 2015.
Imagine if you knew for certain Christ was going to return at the end of 2015. Would that knowledge change how you are spending your time? The fact is, His return is imminent and not knowing when ought to effect how you spend your time even more so than if you did know because each one of us will give an account. Paul wrote to the Corinthians,” For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (2 Cor. 5:10).
Under the Holy Spirit’s conviction, I recently stepped down from an aside ministry I have been a part of for five years. I wrestled with God over the issue, but it was not until I let go of the old that God showed me what He had next. Amazingly, I am thrilled about the new vision He has given, and even though it may require work and challenges, I know that if Christ were to return in 2015 I have been obedient. I pray 2015 will be the most exciting year yet of your relationship with Christ, but it will all hinge on your obedience to Him. I want to leave you with one word as you consider God’s invitation to be a part of His work in 2015—“ENGAGE!”

2015! WOW it is time to move into a new year.
On a personal note, let me say thank you. My family is so honored to be a part of Hillcrest Baptist Church! This first year of Ministry in Christian County has been wonderful for us. We are even more excited to see what God has planned next…
Sunday January 4th should be a wonderful day. The new year has begun and everyone is ready to get involved in new things. Have you found a Sunday School Class yet? If not, we have many opportunities at Hillcrest. A new adult class begins at 9 am, taught by Danny and Connie Marsh. They will meet in the House at 1609 E. 9th St.
New Discipleship classes begin Wednesday night, January 7th. Prayer Matters, Men Only, and College classes will continue with their regular schedule. Also there are several new classes that start this week…Fireproof Your Marriage (limited to the first 12 couples that register in the church office), The Deacon I Want To Be (for current and prospective deacons and their wives), What Love Is, The Family of Jesus, and The Apostle Paul. There are lots of wonderful choices, so find your place and join in each week.
I’m excited about what God is doing in the lives of the people of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Find your place of ministry, and tell a friend.
See You Sunday,
Tony

Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for making this year’s Lottie Moon Auction such a success. Because of the generous use of your talents and resources, we were able to raise $7358.33 in one night! On behalf of our Southern Baptist missionaries serving worldwide, I want to thank you for your support and ask for your continued prayers during these exciting times. We have the opportunities to spread the gospel to the entire world within our generation.
- Janet Rinehart Dear Hillcrest Church Family, I’m writing from the International Mission’s Board Learning Center to say thank you! Because of your generous support to the Gospel is spreading to the deaf in a country in South Asia where there are 800,000 deaf and only 1 believer. Thank you for making it possible for me to go.

Thank you for your love, support and kindness during this difficult time. The peace lily is beautiful and reminds me of the peace that only God can give.
