ning. Vocations collec-
tions on Jan13/14.

Party at the Lodge Jan. 21. Con-
tact Bob Dalecki ... $10 pre-
register … $15 at the door. Bring
guests ... This event is. a great
recruiting effort for our Council.
Thanks to Br. Greg Z and his
crew for a successful pancake
breakfast at STMP. Kudos
to Ben Dadson and Bernie Liscik
for jobs-well-done with the
C.O.A.L. campaign and Football
Sweeps. Both provide terrific
funding for our Council charities.
Br. Tom P has scheduled a 1st Degree
ceremony for January 10, prior to the gen-
eral meeting at the Lodge. A 2nd Degree
will be held at the Lodge on Tuesday,
January 23, beginning at 7 P.M.
Remember the February Council meeting
has been moved up one week to Feb. 7 to
avoid a conflict with the Feb 14 date (Ash
Wednesday AND Valentine's Day).
Our Council will help St Bernard's
School serve the Feb 23rd Lenten Fish
Fry ... and we will have a Pancake Break-
fast Feb 25 at St Bernard ... Lots to
do and many ways for you to get involved.
Invite friends to the AFC party on the 21st
and contact Tom P if you know anyone
interested in the 1st Degree.
Remember ... from the Old Testament —
Sauerkraut is delicious year ‘round! Keep
the Faith :) and may the force be with you!

Join tens of thousands in
Washington D. C. on Friday,
January 19, to march peace-
fully in defense of the un-
born. Travel in comfort to
the March for Life on a bus coach that will depart Indi-
ana at 6:30 AM on the 19th.
Once we arrive in Washington, you will be able to par-
ticipate in the rallies before the March—or join some of
us in taking petitions to
the offices of our sena-
tors and representatives.
Following the March,
which begins at 1 PM,
there will be additional
opportunities to meet
with government offi-
cials should you choose to do so.
We will arrive back in Indiana between 10:00 PM and
10:30 PM.
Seating on the bus is limited, and the cost for the trip
this year is $45. Financial assistance is also available for
those in need.
Contact me, Bill Ager, at 724-465-4522 to make your
reservation, or you can e-mail Dennis Ragan at
[email protected]. The dead-
line to reserve a seat on the bus is
Tuesday, January 17.
Please note that anyone under the
age of 18 travelling on the bus to
the March for Life must be accom-
panied by a parent/guardian.

Brothers: It’s that time again when we turn
the page on the calendar -- the old year makes
its exit and the new year brings time for new
opportunities in our lives!
Our council is no exception, as we prepare to
induct new members at our Jan. 10 meeting
with the Exemplification of the First Degree. While it’s an
important time for Council 1481, it’s a momentous time for
our new members as they join our ranks.
Please resolve to be here and welcome them as they begin
this new phase in their lives. A warm and friendly introduc-
tion to Knighthood can certainly be the key to starting a
meaningful
and reward-
ing life as a
member of our order.
Resolve, too, to take a part in building and strengthening our
council in this new year. Let it begin with simply mentioning
the Knights of Columbus to the men of our parishes. Be
proud of our mission, knowledgeable of our mission, and
welcoming to others who would share in the rewards of
membership in the Father McNelis Council.
Fraternally,
Br. Chauncey Ross, Membership Chairman
The AFC Championship Party will
continue with the same venue as
last year. Sausage and Messy Jo-
seph sandwiches with a huge se-
lection of snack foods.

screen TVs. The AFC Champion-
ship starts at 3 P.M. on Sunday,
January 21. All are welcome (and
encouraged), so bring prospective
K of C members. $10 per person
prior to the event—or $15 at the
door. Made possible to you by
brothers Richard (Dicky) Kurim-
sky and Bob Dalecki.
Make your reservation by sending
a check to Brother Bob Dalecki by
January 12—401 Elm St., Indiana,
PA 15701—payable to “K of C

and again this year for sure.

Dr. Vito DonGiovanni, Poster Chairman
Each year, councils throughout the
country participate in the Knights of
Columbus Substance Abuse Awareness
Poster Contest to help make young peo-
ple in their communities aware of the
dangers of the abuse of drugs and alco-
hol, to give a positive outlook for chil-
dren to embrace, and to help carry them
through the peer pressure to use alcohol
and drugs.
The posters’ thought-provoking visuals
and slogans send the message that drugs
and alcohol are not the way to go. For-
ty–one students from St Bernard’s
Learning Center participated this year
and thanks to Past Grand Knight Dave
Miller who assisted in the judging.
Cash prizes were awarded to the win-
ners.
