Men’s Club News
January 2018
Activities: This year’s “Toys For Tots” Christmas program was a big success. We collected well over
100 new unwrapped toys for the needy children of Kern County. Some special thanks, for
their generosity, go to those who came to the pancake breakfast.
The pancake breakfasts have become a popular social event in The Greens. It
again had a good turnout of pancake lovers and socializing home owners. Watch
for the next pancake breakfast, in the spring.
The Men’s Club will be attending the Cal State Bakersfield basketball game on
Saturday January 13th. They will play the New Mexico State Aggies. See Rex
Morgan for tickets. They are $7.25.
The Men’s Club annual scheduling meeting will be held at 8:00 am on January
13th in the Ridge Oak Clubhouse. The purpose of the meeting is to plan the
activities and events for the club for 2018.
To keep informed about the coming Men’s Club activities,
complete the form located on the desk in the library.

A Note From Your Board
Larry E, Reider, President-Greens Board of Directors
Dear Greens Homeowner,
January 2018 is upon us, and as it closes out an old year, it brings a New Year and new things to us.
One of the new things is a change in our gate codes. Our gate codes will be changing effective Janu-
ary 8, 2018. Kelly Management will be sending notices to all residents prior to this date of the gate
code changes. It was decided to not enact the gate code changes until after the New Year, so as to
allow your holiday visitors and guests to use a gate code that both you, and they, are familiar with.
Once you get the new gate codes from Kelly Management please be sure to give the vendor code to
you gardeners, or others services that you will use. This change will not affect your gate remotes.
The New Year will also bring a continuation of the improvement project at Ridge Oak. The im-
proved billiard/pool table area is about completed, and work is beginning on the improved card play-
ing area.
The board thanks you for your understanding and patience during this time.
The board would also like to thank those many residents that took the effort to decorate their homes
and yards for the Holiday season. It is very comforting, and a secure feeling, to see the season dis-
played so warmly in our community. Thank you.
An item of concern that has been brought to my attention, is the unpleasant sight and smells one at
times sees from residents not cleaning up after their dogs when they walk them in our community.
Dog waste is unsafe, unsightly and unsanitary. Please make sure that your dog is not the one leaving
a mess on our sidewalks or lawns.
Finally, at a closed session meeting in mid-December, the board appointed Bob Joy as Chief Finan-
cial Officer (CFO). Bob is a very accomplished individual, an active Greens resident and will do an
excellent job fulfilling the important duties of CFO which include overseeing our budget, (the ac-
counting function is performed by Kelly management), approve expenditures, and direct our invest-
ments among a multitude of other duties.
Bob and his wife, Nancy, moved into the Greens in 2012 while they were both working. They both
retired in 2017 and look forward to taking an even more active role in our community. Bob received
his accounting degree from Washburn University in 1976 and his CPA certificate prior to moving to
Bakersfield in 1979. Bob has 40 years of Accounting and Finance experience in the oil, newspaper,
housing development, and most recently education fields. Bob is a U.S. Navy veteran. Between
them Bob and Nancy have eight grandchildren ranging in age from 2 to 21. Their greatest JOY is
spending time with their grandchildren!! Please join me in welcoming Bob to this important part of
our HOA, and thank him for his service to our community.
Have a Happy New Year from your Board of Directors.
