Later, both explored solo careers as well as serving long-time stints as sidemen to some of the biggest names in blues. Even after leaving Chicago, the two would still cross paths on the road, but when Turner learned of McCall's battle with stage four lung cancer, he made it a priority to reunite with his old friend. Born in Gilmer, Texas in 1939, Benny Turner and his older brother, Freddie King, learned to play guitar from their mother, Ella Mae (King) Turner. Although best known for his role as bassist for the Freddie King band, he later played for Mighty Joe Young and then for Blues Queen of New Orleans Marva Wright. Turner's earliest musical endeavors include work as a recording artist for the M-Pac! and One-Derful! labels. He also appears on gospel recordings with The Kindly Shepherds and Otis Clay. He toured with Dee Clark and the Original Soul Stirrers. Turner's award-winning autobiography, Survivor-The Benny Turner Story, was published in 2017. A native of New Madrid, Missouri, Morris Dollison, Jr. was born in 1941 and is better known as Cash McCall, a name that has been renowned ever since his 1966 recording "When You Wake Up" became a national R&B hit. McCall was a Nashboro Records recording artist while a member of the Gospel Songbirds. He went on to record as a solo R&B artist for the Thomas, Checker, and Paula labels, and worked at One-derful! and Chess Records as a session musician and songwriter. Performing with Minnie Riperton, Etta James, Bo Diddley, and many more while living in Los Angeles, Cash was also a member of blues legend Willie Dixon's band, the All-Stars, and co-produced his Grammy Award-winning Hidden Charms album. . ELIJAH ROCK GERSHWIN FOR MY SOUL

Key Selling Points: Gershwin For My Soul represents a full circle journey for Cleveland-born baritone Elijah Rock. He began singing at age 13 and stepped up to his first Gershwin songs at 16 in “Porgy & Bess” at the Cleveland Institute of Music. No less than the great Freddy Cole once told him, “Learn a standard a day and you’ll be alright!” Along with the Great American Songbook, show tunes, art songs and other classics that colored him Broadway-bound, Elijah always returned to Gershwin. It was while doing “Words By Ira Gershwin” that he learned how brothers George & Ira were godfather geniuses of Tin Pan Alley in the early 20th century. Reading Michael Feinstein’s book “The Gershwins and Me” sealed the deal. Carrying this art forward, Elijah Rock dove into this project with relish and the trio of producer/arranger/pianist Kevin Toney, bassist John B. Williams and drummer Greg Paul, plus guitarist Jacques Lesure in the west coast jazz sanctuary of Nolan Shaheed’s studio. The 12-song CD opens with “S’Wonderful,” a tender fitting contemporary take a la Al Jarreau. “Fascinatin’ Rhythm” and “Our Love Is Here To Stay” are drenched in that punchy syncopated manner that most recalls their original era, the latter with some of Toney’s signature piano flourish. “I Can’t Get Started” swings and chugs with a four on the floor groove while the lovely “Long Ago and Far Away” floats on a slow hot wind bossa beat. Elijah milks the rarely heard extended introduction to “How Long Has This Been Goin’ On” before it falls like feathers into the brushed blues of its well-known verses. The second half of Gershwin For My Soul is where more chances are taken. The title track – the sole original penned by Rock and Toney – is a hip churchy blues where Elijah testifies his fascination with all things Gershwin. It’s followed boldly by “Tchaikovsky (And Other Russians),” a Hip Hop Swing interlude perfect post the Tonys- sweeping genre bending musical “Hamilton.” And Elijah brings his tap shoes in for solo and drum-dueling duties on the revival rave-up stomp “I Got Plenty O’ Nuttin’.” Most movingly, the focus becomes sheer aural nudity on a trio of ballads Elijah submerges into that showcase the full resonant beauty of his voice and his skills of interpretation from the acting world. They are the relaxed and romantic “Shall We Dance” (solely accompanied by the guitar of John Storie), the parlor song swoon of “Love Walked In” (featuring solo piano introduction and accompaniment by Toney), and the tour de force closer “Isn’t It a Pity,” a bluesy ballad wish of delicious diction and a heart-stopping dip into a cinematic so long. “Before this experience, I hadn’t really embraced the balladeer aspect of my gift,” Rock reflects. “It was about me being vulnerable enough to know I could do it. It’s been an interesting transformation...everything slowed down. There’s space for introspection and that moment to moment feeling of the lyric. I fell in love with the space between the notes and the simplicity of telling the story.” Rock – whose resume boasts a decade and a half of acclaimed, across-the-board accomplishments in stage, film and television – found the perfect collaborator in Kevin Toney whose work as a keyboardist, composer, arranger, author, educator and co-founder of the ’70s R&B-Jazz group The Blackbyrds provided the optimal springboard for Rock to bounce concepts off. “Kevin Toney is a virtuoso whose experience speaks for itself,” Rock says. “We brought our authentic creative selves to the material

Title explanation: “Let’Go” As a child, when I’d sail with my father he would call out from behind his steerage to “Let go.” I would be standing on the front deck holding the mooring line firmly when he was ready to steer clear of the quayside. It was my job to keep the line taught and he would have to convince me it was time to “Let Go!” Like so many things in life, we sometimes hold on to things when it’s time to “Let Go.” I’m now trying to let my father go, but I’ll never let the lifeline of music go, that was a big part of our father and daughter connection.

Key Selling Points: As many collectors around the world thirst for more information on their prized pieces I’ve assembled some information on the recording and forming of Witch, the 80’s metal band that released “Salem’s Rise” in 1985. I’m Tim Grogean, Executive Producer, co-song writer and musician on the album and President of Eargasm Records. Ted George and I were introduced in 1984 when he came to my studio in Dayton Ohio asking me to Produce a single for him. He was a shredding guitarist and song writer from Versailles Ohio. Ted handled all the guitars on the first release with Jon Menger on drums and Larry “LD” Hampshire on keyboards. “Chained Heat” B/W Rock-N-Roll Dreams” was released on Eargasm Records in 1984. Pre-production work was done at Eargasm Studios and the recording at Audio Productions in New Carlisle Ohio with Tim and Mike Niklas engineering. It was Mastered at QCA in Cincinnati. After the completion of “Chained Heat” Ted yearned to write an album and I was looking for a project to present to larger Record companies in LA and NY. Song writing and rehearsals started in Versailles Ohio, many nights jamming in the basement of brothers Tony and Dave Chappie. Tony on drums and Dave on Bass were completed by Ted and vocalist Ace Mathews. From there pre-production was done at Eargasm studios and in to Audio Productions we went to record one hell of a heavy metal album. Many of long nights and heavy parties ensued for then next month as the band hammered out the 10 songs on Witch “Salem’s Rise”. The instruments fell in very solid with Ted’s fast guitar work and solid rhythm section. The recording at Audio Productions in New Carlisle Ohio had Tim and Mike Niklas engineering. Tim was the Executive Producer as well as assisted in song writing and guitar. It was Mastered at QCA in Cincinnati. Tim and Tony Chappie wrote the drum solo and incomparable pianist Larry “LD” Hampshire again came to Ted’s side for the keyboards. Yes, it’s true, we pulled out all the stops being a dark heavy metal album. LD Hampshire provided some awesome devilish backing tracks and backwards masking. See “Something Evil” for some great examples of this. The album was released in 1985 with the album release party held at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio. Tim Grogean opened up as an original solo act. The albums sold out almost immediately but the Large Record companies felt the tide was turning to new wave and Big Hair Metal away from the Heavy Metal of the late 70’s and no big deal was inked unfortunately. Most of the musicians involved continued to play and record to this day. Ted went on to front many bands and work with artists like Rick Dillinger. He is now known as “Fast Eddie” due to his freakish speed on the guitar. The Chappie brothers eventually became businessmen and less in known about the future for singer Ace Mathews. “LD” continued to play in bands with Tim and record in Dayton area studio’s. Tim went on to work with bands like Rush, Sponge, Days of the New, Sun etc. Tim Grogean, Executive producer on the Witch album, has continued recording and touring. His band Amplified has just released “The Last Circus”. Tim, an International Record Producer/Songwriter/Musician and Platinum Recording Artist/Funk Hall of Fame member Gary King join Amplified and special guests in a concept album not matched in many years.
