Format Overview Challenge Evenings - Tuesdays

4 weeks of unique challenges and events. Variable formats (see below.) These will be semi-experimental but we’re hoping that they will be great fun and bring something different and entertaining to this latest lockdown. You will need to be VARDS certified and have access to Discord to book onto these events.

    Guest Car Racing - Saturdays

Get your racing fix in cars other than the Caterhams. This will be a car / track combination suggested and voted on by the community each week. Still single car and setup format so everyone is running exactly the same machinery.

No booking necessary - offered on a first come first serve basis. Additional servers will be available if Server A fills up. Drivers looking to get their VARDS can use these events to do so.

    Nordschleife Hot Lap Super Challenge

Can you set a clean lap around the Green Hell? Set your fastest clean lap around the Nordschleife in the Academy or 420R cars. Simple! But even getting on the hotlap leaderboard for this one will be frighteningly difficult. Are you up for the challenge?

    Broadcasts

No planned public broadcasts through this challenge series - but that might change at some point!

Racing has been sunny at caterhamracer.com so far, but that’s about to change. The Goodwood Circuit wet configuration has been touted as the most accurate wet racing experience to date and so will offer a unique experience for you.

Tues 19th Jan - Top Gear Challenge

The Top Gear Test Track is an iconic piece of tarmac with a unique cross over figure of eight layout. Not suitable for racing of course but that’s not going to stop us through this challenge series.

It’s only possible to race a limited number of cars at a time so we will be having an evening of heat races with the top 4 (tbc) drivers moving through and the bottom 4 (tbc) eliminated. Once we’ve eliminated enough we’ll be down to the grand final.

Tues 26th Jan - Goodwood Hill Climb

You can practice all you like ahead of time, but you only get one shot to set a perfectly clean time up the famous Goodwood hill. What’s more, everyone will be watching your efforts to pile on even more pressure!

Tues 2nd Feb - Race of Champions

Drivers will be set head to head around a cross over track in a quick fire, best of 3. The winner progresses to the next round of the tournament. The loser gets eliminated. Until we’re just left with 2 drivers to juke it out to be crowned caterhamracer.com Champion.

Saturday Guest Car Evenings At caterhamracer.com, we unashamedly love the Caterham Cars. They will always form the main content on our servers. However, there’s a whole plethora of other cars available and a whole world of tracks to explore.

And making use of the best that Assetto Corsa has to offer will be the backbone of Saturday Evening casual racing.

These will be casual races, offered on a first come, first served basis. You don’t need to book and you have the opportunity to complete your VARDS assessment if you haven’t yet got that done.

It will still be single car, single setup format to keep to the caterhamracer.com philosophy of exactly the same machinery for everyone out on track.

If spaces run out on Server A, then we’ll spin up Server B etc.

    Content Proposal / Voting

It will be up to the community to propose and vote on the content to use each Saturday evening. A setup can be supplied or, in the absence of a setup file, the default setup will be used for the mod.

The exact race format might vary depending on the content but the aim will be for the actual racing portion of the evening to last around 30-45 minutes.

Event date  Every Saturday, 20:00 GMT starting 16th Jan.

    Car  Various

    Pre-qualification  N/A

VARDS + Booking  Not required. (First come first served.)

    Discord  Optional

    Format  Various

Additional  Community propose and vote on content to use each week.

    Nordschleife Hot Lap Challenge

If you’ve still got time to fill this lockdown, then the Nordschleife Hot Lap Challenge will be right up your street. When the servers aren’t being used for Tuesday or Friday events, then they will be available for lapping around the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife.

All you have to do is set a clean lap time on the server with either the 420R or the Academy car. Obviously, at 20.8km long, that is a fantastically hard challenge just to set a clean lap, let along a fast one.

Who will rise to the challenge to crown themselves 420R or Academy Hot Lap Champion.

Event date  Various (when servers not in use for other events)

    Car  Academy, 420R

    Pre-qualification  N/A

VARDS + Booking  Not required. (First come first served.)

    Discord  Optional

    Format  Single Hotlap (clean)

Additional  Good luck… you’ll need it

Driving standards As with all events we put on, it is essential that drivers take responsibility for their driving and driving standards at all times whilst on the servers.

A lot of time and dedication is put in by the vast majority of drivers to ensure that they are well prepared and ready for our races.

Drivers need to read, understand and follow these stipulations:

    ● You will never, at any time while using our servers, deliberately crash, ram, hit, nudge or otherwise affect someone else’s race or practice session.

    ● Race as if you were paying for repair bills. We rely on you to maintain a realistic approach and make an overtake move only when it is viable and will not rely on any contact in order to independently take the next corner. Your overtake should be completed without forcing another driver to leave the racing surface. We expect all drivers to tend towards the side of patience and caution.

    ● You are expected to remove yourself from races if your ping becomes high or unstable. Just like a mechanical, it may not be your fault, but continuing to race with a high ping is just unfair for everyone around you.

    ● If a judicial process goes against you, you will accept the penalty as an opportunity to learn and move forward not an invitation for anger and revenge!
