6:00 pm in the St.
Brendan Library

continuation of
Bishop Robert Bar-
ron’s DVD “The
Mystery of God:

Attributes” and
“Providence and
the Problem of
Evil.” We will also
pray the Luminous
Mysteries of the
Rosary, read the
Monthly Message
and lift up each
other's prayer
intentions. All are
welcome!
MALAWI MOMENTS You may ask—What has this “Sister Parish Committee” been up to lately? We happen to meet monthly on the
3rd Thursday evenings at Marie and Dale Hedden’s house (interested parties welcome
[email protected]) and we have been spreading out to various nooks and crannies of our parish to
seek out new ways to integrate and educate the meaning of Sister Parish. We have met with our new principal,
Brian Bradish who is very excited about the idea of involving the children. We also spoke with staff for our chil-
dren programs, Andrew Krieger and Andrea King, and discussed about how we can reach out to the children in
our parish. You may have seen the poster on the wall in the Narthex where we posted the covenant signed and
some photos of our Sister Parish in action. Fr. Jim and members of our committee formally invited Pastor Chris
and schoolmaster John Phiri and his wife to take a trip of a lifetime to come visit us in October. We are hosting
a Malawi Banquet on Saturday, February 6, following the 5:00 pm Mass and we will host a Friday Soup Supper
during Lent. We are praying and dreaming up other ways to further our relationship with the guidance of the
Holy Spirit.

ST. BRENDAN WOMEN’S BOOK CLUB Happy New Year! It’s always great to begin a new year
with a book to help guide us in our spiritual life. Janu-
ary’s book is entitle, “The Discernment of Spirits—An
Ignation Guide of Everyday Living by Timothy Galla-
gher, O.M.V. This book is for all who desire greater
awareness of God’s action in their daily spiritual lives.
Join us as we discuss this book on Monday, January
25th, at 7:00 pm in the Brendan House Dining
Room. Call Berni at 425-485-4893 or Anneliese
at 425-486-4225.
LIBRARY CORNER The new year is here and Lent is right around the cor-
ner. Amazing how one season flows into the next
and the liturgical year gives us exactly what we need
when we need it! This quiet time of the year would
be just the right time to hone up on one of your favor-
ite saints. Our library is jam-packed full of great
books on the saints. Due to shelf limitations , we
cannot accept any more book donations. We do get
requests for individual book titles sometimes, so will
post a “Wish List for Books” in our library.

The Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy was founded in War-
saw, Poland in 1862. The Congregation has become more widely known in
recent years because of one of its members: Sister Faustina Kowalska. They
carry out Saint Faustina’s mission by spreading the devotion to the Divine
Mercy, by proclaiming the message of the infinite mercy of God, and by im-
ploring divine mercy for the entire world.
