From the Pastor: Treasures Hiding in Plain Sight In 1961, a couple living in Milwaukee inherited some artwork from a relative. Among the pictures was a nice one of a vase with flowers, which they hung in their living room. 30 years later, they decided they needed to “unclutter” their house, so they took many of their possessions to an auctioneer, including the painting which they had always assumed was just a reproduction. But the auctioneer, who knew his art history, noticed that the canvas looked extremely old. He carefully examined the artwork and told the couple he thought it was an original painting by the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. They laughed at the idea, but art experts later confirmed that he was correct! The
painting turned out to be worth close to a million dollars. Wouldn’t it be great to find out that we also had a treasure hiding in plain sight?
But in fact we do have the greatest treasure always very close to us. That Treasure is Jesus Himself – not just a picture of Jesus or a statue of Jesus, but the real Jesus, in the flesh! We believe on the words of Jesus and His Church that He becomes present for us under the simple appearance of bread and wine at every Holy Mass. And even after Mass, He remains with us in every Catholic Church in the Holy Eucharist. Here at St. Patrick Church, we can visit Jesus anytime, day or night, in our Eucharistic Chapel. We can pray to Him, we can listen to Him speaking to our hearts (He can speak to our hearts without using words, if we listen carefully) and we can just BE with Him. Do not overlook this great Treasure in our midst! Come to Holy Mass every weekend and visit Jesus in the Holy Eucharist often during the week!

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our
community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering
may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you
close wounds, cure illnesses, make broken bodies whole and free downcast
spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join
us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through Lord Jesus who
healed those who believed. Amen

Men's Club 'bowls' a thank you to the parish! The St. Patrick Church Men’s Club thanks all for the support in helping make our first Scholarship Bowling Tournament in November a resounding success. It was a great event as 160 bowlers enjoyed the evening at Jett Bowl. With the tremendous backing of our parish, your Men’s Club has annually awarded college scholarship to high school students from our parish. Our goal is a minimum of seven, $1,000 scholarship this academic
year. Your sponsorship helps continue our mission to our parish youth. Amen, and we pray for your continued support.

El párroco: Tesoros Escondido a Simple Vista
En 1961, una pareja que vivía en Milwaukee había
heredado algunas obras de arte de un
pariente. Entre ellas estaba una pintura de un
hermoso jarrón con flores, que colgaban en la
pared de su casa. 30 años después, decidieron que
necesitaban "despejar" su casa, por lo que tomaron
muchas de sus posesiones a un subastador,
incluyendo la pintura que siempre habían asumido,
era sólo una reproducción. Pero el subastador,
quien conocía la historia del arte, notó que el lienzo parecía muy viejo. Examinó la
obra de arte cuidadosamente y le comentó a la pareja que sospechaba que era una
pintura original del famoso artista Vincent Van Gogh. Se rieron de la idea, pero los
expertos en arte confirmaron más adelante que ¡él estaba en lo correcto! La pintura
resultó estar evaluada por aproximadamente 1 millón de dólares.
¿No sería genial saber que también hay un tesoro escondido dentro de nosotros que
a simple vista no se ve? Pues, de hecho, tenemos el mayor de los tesoros, y siempre
muy cerca de nosotros. ¡Ese tesoro es Jesús mismo, no sólo una imagen o una
estatua, pero el Jesús real, en carne! Creemos en las palabras de Jesús y de su iglesia
que él se hace nos presenta bajo la simple apariencia de pan y el vino en cada Santa
Misa. Y aún después de la Misa, El sigue con nosotros en cada iglesia católica en la
Santa Eucaristía. Aquí en St. Patrick Church, podemos visitar a Jesús en cualquier
momento, día o noche, en nuestra capilla de adoración. Podemos orar a Él,
podemos escuchar que le habla a nuestros corazones (él puede hablar a nuestros
corazones sin usar palabras, si escuchamos con cuidado) y simplemente estar con
él. ¡No pasen por alto este gran tesoro en medio de nosotros! ¡Vengan a Misa cada
fin de semana y visiten a Jesús Sacramentado a menudo durante la semana!
