Prior Knowledge: Convert 2/5 to a decimal
Convert .4 to a percent

Mini-lesson:
To convert a fraction to a percent:
First convert the fraction to a decimal, then convert the decimal to a percent
FRACTION DECIMAL PERCENT
Example:
Convert the fraction 9/20 to a percent
1. Change 9/20 to a decimal, by dividing 20 into 9
2. Change the decimal to a percent, by moving the decimal point two places to the right.
Example:
Convert the fraction 6/25 to a percent
1. Change 6/25 to a decimal, by dividing 25 into 6
2. Change the decimal to a percent, by moving the decimal point two places to the right.
Example:
Convert the fraction 3/8 to a percent
1. Change 3/8 to a decimal, by dividing 8 into 3
2. Change the decimal to a percent, by moving the decimal point two places to the right.
If we wanted to convert a percent to a fraction, how do you think we could do that? What steps could we follow?
