muscles, fascia and ligaments and how any limitations may be ef-
fecting their function to do what they want to do. Well, let me tell you
that there are muscles, joints, fascia and ligaments in the pelvis too!
These structures are very important for many life functions like uri-
nating, bowel movements, sexual activities and in women having ba-
bies. With all those functions happening to the pelvis and pelvic con-
tents, things can happen. Surgery, disease of the abdomen or pelvic
structures disrupt the function of this part of the body.
What can happen? Here you go, get
ready it is a long list in no particular or-
der: constipation, urinary frequency,
pelvic pain, pain with vaginal penetra-
tion, pain with or lack of orgasm (men and
women), leakage of urine or feces with
certain activities or without even know-
ing, urgency of urine or stool, invisible
birth injuries to the pelvic muscles, or-
gan prolapse, incisions from surgeries
that bind down internally and externally,
slow moving bowels, sexual dysfunction,
chronic pain, abdominal bloating, back pain, pain with sitting, rectal
conditions including hemorrhoids, abdominal separation (Diasta-
sis recti), weak abdominals, pain with inserting a tampon or having a
gynecological examination, inability to hold back gas, hypersensitiv-
ity of the clitoris, burning of the vaginal opening, bulging abdominals,
erectile dysfunction and more.
So I bet you didn’t realize that a specialized physical therapist can
help people with the conditions mentioned above. Not just any physi-
cal therapist, but one who has traveled to take continuing education
from the experts in this field, studied pelvic health, visceral health and
specialized classes in women’s and men’s health. Look for a physical
therapist who treats the entire person on what is called a
biopsychosocial model of care. (See ad on page 6)
Healing Secrets ofWhole Body Cryotherapy
Our Center offers Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC), a unique service
offered by only 50 wellness centers in the US . It was developed in
Japan almost 40 years ago as a means for treating the pain and in-
flammation of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since then, it has been used in
Japan and throughout Europe. Multiple pilot studies, research and
empirical (experiential) data showed that WBC works well on any
inflammation, not only of arthritis, but fibromyalgia, lupus, Sjogren’s,
neuropathy, and many others. WBC shows 98% of success in treat-
ing autoimmune diseases. WBC also promotes speedy after-surgical
and trauma recovery.
It has been available in US for the past 7 years and is being popular-
ized by some well-known doctors. WBC has also proven to help with

A Matter of Perspective.I bet almost all of you looked at the
photo on the right, and thought, “I
wonder what that guy is doing with a
glass next to his face?” Do not worry,
there is a good explanation. Well, at
least I think there is a good explana-
tion. However, I will let you be the
judge. Please read on.
Look at that glass closely. Some of you
may say, that the glass is half empty. Others may say that the glass is
half full. Those of you that are precise might say the glass is 48% full
or 52% empty.
I do not plan to disagree with you. No matter what your perspective,
half-full or half-empty or a certain percentage full or empty. Never-
theless, I believe that most of you will agree with the following state-
ment: “You see the glass as partly full or partly empty.” I know for a
fact that very few of you will agree with the following statement.
“You see the glass as completely full.” Excellent! Let me give you some
information that could potentially alter your perspective. A human
being can survive for approximately 20 – 30 days without food. A
human being can survive for about 2 – 3 days without water. A hu-
man being can survive for about 1 – 2 minutes without air.
Look at the glass again with a different perspective. The bottom half of
the glass contains something that you need to survive for the next 2 –
3 days. However, the top half of the glass contains something that you
need to survive for the next 1 – 2 minutes. When you look at the glass
with a different perspective, you may just begin to agree with the state-
ment, “The glass is always completely full.”
How you view it, is simply a matter of perspective.
Dr. Atul Uchil is a motivational expert, an award winning author and the
creator of the Bravo Motivation® system. Dr. Uchil, released his latest book,
“If Not Now, When?”, in May, 2014. Through the story of the twists and
turns of a wild trip to Thailand and a near-death experience, he reflects on
his journey of finding peace of mind, as well as meaning, purpose and an
awareness of what is important. (See ad on page 10)
Physical therapy forthe pelvis and abdomen
Women and men may experience pelvic pain, urinary or bowel ur-
gency or leakage at some point in their lifetime. Often people seek
medical help from their physicians for these conditions and undergo
multiple tests, which are often. Many health care practitioners are not
aware that there are physical therapists who are trained in the evalu-
ation and treatment of the reproductive, gastro- intestinal, colo-rectal
and urologic systems.
Most people see a physical therapist in private practice after a ortho-
pedic injury, which involves examination and treatment of the joint,

Dr. Weston Price’s ground-breaking book Nutrition and Physical De-
generation was published in 1939 (the book is in its 21st printing
and is published by Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation). The book
was the culmination of research that examined the primitive cultures
of many parts of the world and how the introduction of the western
diet caused dental disease and eventually lead to systemic ailments
as well. For ten years he traveled the world and examined four-teen
different primitive cultures, from the Eskimos of North America to the
Island peoples of the Pacific, from the Pygmies of Africa to the dairy
farmers of the Swiss Alps. In all cases when the people retained their
native, natural diets, they were free of tooth decay and lived healthy,
robust lives. When western foods (processed foods, sugar, white
flour, pasteurized milk, etc) were introduced into the diets of the dif-
ferent cultures, all succumbed to dental disease and various illnesses.
As a highly recognized ADA (American Dental Association) re-
searcher and dental scholar, Dr. Price became keenly aware of a par-
ticular link between poor nutrition and physical development in
children of all the cultures he studied. Consumption of non-native
foods caused tooth decay, leading to early tooth loss that eventually
affected the proper development of the dental arches (jaws) and
thereby the normal growth of the face. Children who thrived on their
natural diet developed straight, wide smiles with full broad faces.
Children who ate a western diet had crowded, misaligned teeth and
noticeably narrow, faces. Although his research was cut short by
World War II, he accumulated enough facts and observations to pub-
lish his book and promote better nutrition for proper development
and good health.
It’s an ironic twist that in our advanced world, seven decades after Dr.
Price’s research, we as a culture, demanding beautiful smiles and faces,
resort to orthodontic and cosmetic treatments to undo damages caused
by our poor choices in nutrition. Dr. Hyo Lim, Dental Wellness Centre,

Drug-Free Therapiesto Keep Pets Moving Naturally
In an era when there’s a pharmaceutical answer to almost any ail-
ment, drug-free therapies to help pets experiencing loss of mobility
and pain are effective natural treatments. Pharmaceuticals are not
the only answer to an effective treatment in veterinary cases like post-
surgical healing, wound care, on-going management of pain and
swelling, or joint disease. Sometimes natural options are necessary
due to possible drug interactions, unwanted side effects, or a pet
parent’s preference in care.
Acupuncture and cold laser
therapy are two drug-free treat-
ment options with proven re-
sults. Cold laser therapy is use of
a low-level laser which does not
require sedation and only takes
minutes to administer to the af-
fected area. Other than wearing
protective eyewear, the dog or
cat can rest comfortably in the
arms of a pet parent or veterinary
hormonal imbalance, moodiness and depression. Empirical data
shows that WBC works great in relieving muscle sourness and tired-
ness after intense physical workouts. It provides a performance edge
and has become very popular in many sports.
WBC treatment is being successfully used in the Beauty Industry as
well. WBC speeds up metabolism, and helps with weight loss. It offers
a strong anti-aging quality by tightening up the skin and helping to
fight cellulitis.
How it Works: The WBC is administered in CryoSauna: a cylindrically
shaped cabin with an open top. You stand with your head out of the
sauna and your body is immersed in nitrogen vapor. It creates a tem-
perature of -320 F similar to the temperature found in outer-space.
While it may seem extremely cold, it is absolutely tolerable and very
different from the cold we feel in everyday life. Usually our experi-
ence of cold involves water in some form: humidity in the air, rain or
snow. Cold associated with water has a penetrating quality that goes
deep down to the bones. Cold that comes from nitrogen vapor is very
dry and only penetrates skin-deep making it very tolerable.
Why WBC Treatments Work: WBC affects blood circulation. As cold
sensors in the skin are activated, all blood supply is being drawn to
the core . Once the cold air exposure subsides after 3 minutes of treat-
ment; oxygenated blood flushes back to the tissues providing up to 3
times greater blood flow to the muscles and joints. Additionally, dur-
ing the treatment, nerve activity is dampened thus minimizing pain
signaling. The resultant pain relief lasts well beyond the treatment. As
the skin’s nerve receptors are activated by the temperature, they ac-
tivate the body’s survival mechanism. Once the procedure is com-
pleted (in less than 3 minutes) and the external stress is gone, the
survival mechanism focuses on repairing the internal problems.
The result is rapid recovery, pain cessation, feelings of energy and of
well-being, firmer, healthier skin and overall decrease in the body’s
inflammation. www.BucksCountySpa.com. Cryo Spa Natural Heal-
ing Center , 202 Holland Rd Ste 230 , Southampton PA 18966. 215-

Beautiful Smiles ...Naturally
Dr. Hal Huggins passed away a few weeks ago and the world lost the
most recognized figure in the battle to eliminate mercury fillings(silver
fillings). He was the first to bring this issue to the main stream media,
appearing in a segment on 60 Minutes in 1990 (check out the video
on YouTube). He also wrote several popular books on the dangers
and risks in dental treatment and ad-
vocated the safe and effective removal
of mercury fillings and infected teeth.
Dr. Huggins authored another less well
known book titled, Why Raise Ugly Kids.
Although the title may be a bit politically
incorrect, the book contained healthy
and helpful recommendations to aid in
the proper development of children
based on the research of a famous den-
tist, Dr. Weston Price.

Do you knowyour purpose?
As I prowled through my darkened house at 2 a.m., unable to sleep
and dreading work the next day, I knew that God was trying to get my
attention. Now, four years later, I know that he was trying to show me
that my life was off track and that I was not living out his purpose for
me. At the time I was a software engineer manager at Motorola, well-
paid, unfulfilled, and borderline insomniac.
If you are faced with sleepless nights and
dreary days, know that your restlessness
is a calling. It is a yearning for something
more. And if you’re starving for purpose,
the first step is to consider how God cre-
ated you.
#1 Look at your gifts. Are you a leader,
administrator, teacher or artist? Do
friends call you for advice, encourage-
ment, or a helping hand? What activi-
ties or tasks do you love to do? When you
are using your gifts from God, you will feel fulfilled and alive. When
you are living without purpose, you will feel drained and depleted.
Think of a time when you felt that a task was fun and easy. This will
shed light on what gifts God has given you.
#2 Look at what you want to give. You have been given talents and
gifts – believe it or not – and you must decide what difference you
want to make in this life. What issues weigh on your heart? What prob-
lems can you solve? What wounds can you help people heal? Are
you passionate about environmental issues? Do you volunteer at the
local food bank? Do you have a heart for children with disabilities?
Using your gifts to create positive impact will allow you to fulfill God’s
purpose for your life.
As I went through this process, I realized that God has equipped me
with the gifts of mentoring, helping, and discernment. I feel fulfilled
when I help people through the process of discovering their gifts,
strengths and passions. That is why I became a Christian career coach
and have dedicated my life to helping people find and live out God’s
purpose for their lives.
technician. Depending on the medical situation, a series of applica-
tions, spaced over days or weeks, is usually recommended for full
treatment.
Cold laser therapy is effective in treating:
- Wounds (surgical and traumatic) and lesions
- Mobility issues caused by muscle strain, fractures,
joint disease and injuries to tendons or ligaments
- Arthritis
- Nerve damage
When the laser beam is applied to the affected area, protons within
the laser beam aid healing by increasing cellular function to help with
better absorption of nutrients and cell reproduction. It works by:
- Reducing inflammation of soft tissue
- Increasing blood flow
- Releasing fluid build-up in body tissue (edema)
- Easing pain
- Decreasing bacteria
Acupuncture is another drug-free therapy option within alternate or
holistic veterinary medicine. Tiny acupuncture needles are inserted
into the skin where nerve bundles and blood vessels are located—
called acupuncture or energy points—to improve blood circulation,
oxygen flow, nerve stimulation, and the release of hormones that help
relieve inflammation and pain.
Acupuncture has gained acceptance with noticeable results. Dr. Ashlea
Erk and Dr. Dave MacDonald are certified veterinary acupuncturists at
Doylestown Veterinary Hospital. Numerous pets have received acupunc-
ture treatments with owners reporting positive changes, including a re-
newed energy for playing or going for a walk within hours of a session,
and a sustained improvement after several sessions.
Integrative veterinary medicine at Doylestown Veterinary Hospital is
a comprehensive approach to wellness that applies conventional and
alternative veterinary medicine (CAVM) for the best treatment out-
comes. Call Doylestown Veterinary Hospital today at 215-345-6000

cold laser therapy can help your pet. (See ad on page 19)

The Affordable Care Actand Your Taxes
In 2010, when Congress passed the Affordable Care Act (commonly
called Obamacare), the effects seemed far away to many of us. Now
that 2014 is here, there will be several direct effects upon every Ameri-
can, with the requirement that all Americans of all ages obtain quali-
fied health insurance for the entire year. The requirement to obtain
health insurance applies to you individually as well as to anyone you
claim as a dependent on your return.
Several new forms will be issued to taxpayers this year, primarily Form
1095-A, B and C. Because much of the reporting for 2014 will be
voluntary you may not receive any Forms 1095. Therefore you will
need the following information:
1. Health insurer(s) for the year;
2. Number of months of coverage;
3. Members of your family covered by the above health insur-
ance throughout the year;
4. Your county of residence all year.
Of equal importance for 2014 are the multiple possibilities of tax mis-
takes made primarily by your dependent children who work in 2014. To
avoid this mistake do not allow any dependent children to file their own
return, particularly college students, and do not file them yourself. This
guidance is meant to protect you from your children inadvertently cost-
ing you literally thousands of dollars in potential health care tax credits.
We suggest seeking the advice of a licensed tax professional.
For those of you who have received an advance payment of the Health
Care credit by purchasing insurance through the Exchange, if you
received a greater credit than allowed you will be forced to repay the
excess with this year’s return.

and what premiums will really cost for your family so that you have a
clear idea of the facts without a political or media based bias.
The other aspects of the Affordable Care Act that no one is talking about
are the two new surtaxes. Many people incorrectly believe that only high
income Americans pay these surtaxes, but because the tax is not adjusted
for inflation, within a few years all Americans will pay the additional sur-
taxes. You need to take steps now to plan for this event by utilizing every

Helping Families Find Peace
Through Improved Mental HealthSince 2008, Paley Therapy’s team of caring, and professional thera-
pists have been treating the mental health needs of the Bucks County
community. Tucked away in Doylestown, their office has become a
safe haven for getting to the core of the issues that affect so many adults
and adolescents.
Through psychotherapy, individuals and families can learn tools
which help them to combat stress, anxiety, depression, and relation-
ship issues. Stacee Paley, the owner of Paley Therapy, sees commu-
nication problems at the root of many mental health symptoms. “We
spend a lot of wasted time trying to get our needs met without asking,
and this can lead to self-destructive behaviors such as substance
abuse, marital affairs, and feelings of low self-worth. The role of therapy
is to learn how to find healthier ways to communicate our needs, so
we can improve our relationships with those around us.”
These communication issues often spill over from our families of ori-
gin, into our current families. Breaking the pattern through therapy
helps us to create a healthier family unit that will bring us peace and
be a legacy to our future generations. Paley Therapy’s counselors help
adults and children within struggling families to repair their relation-
ships by improving communication and giving them tools and cop-
ing skills to handle their challenges.
In addition to day, evening and weekend appointments, Paley Therapy
has weekly support groups for Teens, Chemically Dependent Teens and
for people who are struggling with Divorce. (See the Calendar Listings for
more information.) Their therapists specialize in many issues, including
Anxiety, Grief, Depression, Trauma, Stress Management, Postpartum and
Infertility, Parenting Issues, Eating Disorders, Gender Identity, Chemical
Dependency, Self-Harm, and Relationships.
The importance of mental health to our overall well-being is recog-
nized by experts, as well as the health
insurance industry. That is why, in most
cases, psychotherapy costs are cov-
ered by health insurance plans. Paley
Therapy is in network with many insur-
ance companies, and will submit in-
surance claims on your behalf. Call to-
day, at 215-489-0900 to schedule an

pungare (to pierce). Specific acupoints on the body are termed shu-
xu and were identified by ancient Chinese people through empirical
study. There are 361 known acupoints in human beings and 173 in
animals. Modern research has shown that acupoints are located in
areas where there is a high density of free nerve endings, arterioles,
mast cells and lymphatic vessels. Numerous studies have indicated
that stimulation of acupoints causes a release of serotonin, beta-en-
dorphin, and other neurotransmitters.
Acupuncture and TCVM are initially quite foreign to the typical trained
western mind. When one delves into such a new mindset, the differ-
ences can seem like an infinite abyss. However, we only need to re-
member that the goals of both are the same: to promote health and to
prevent disease. Eastern medicine is empirical and based on thou-
sands of years of observation while western medicine is case based
and based on the scientific method. Eastern medicine is an art form
which holistically embraces the individual and their entire lifestyle
in contrast to western medicine which relies on technology and test-
ing to ascertain information at a molecular, cellular, and organ level.
And finally, eastern medicine uses a more energetic circular logic
while western medicine uses a more mechanistic linear logic.
Acupuncture has many uses in
veterinary medicine especially
when used in concert with tra-
ditional western medicine. Nu-
merous studies have shown
that acupuncture causes pain
relief, regulates gastrointestinal
motility, and has an anti-inflam-
matory effect. Acupuncture has
also been shown regulate the
immune and reproductive sys-
tems. The most common indi-
cations for acupuncture include musculoskeletal conditions such
as arthritis, back pain and intervertebral disc disease; neurological
disorders such as seizures and paralysis; and gastrointestinal disor-
ders such as vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Other conditions
such as asthma, behavioral problems, endocrine diseases, infertility,
and renal failure can benefit greatly from acupuncture as well.
Acupuncture and TCVM are amazing art forms that can greatly help vet-
erinary patients. We simply have to bridge the mental gap between East-
ern and Western medicine. By Carrie Hutchinson, VMD. (See ad on p. 23)
Innovative High Schoolteaches mindfulness to teenagers.
Can meditation positively affect teenagers’ lives? Absolutely! Becom-
ing more mindful helps adolescents better regulate how life circum-
stances impact their well-being. Encouraging a teenager’s non-judg-
mental awareness of themselves and their surroundings takes a safe
and nurturing community that models compassion but also requires
active participation. At Tinicum Art and Science, high school students
are learning to calm their minds, stabilize their inner worlds and tap
into their creativity before entering the classroom.
A Big Bowl of CherriesI’m outlining my second novel and I’m scared. What if I spend years
writing and it’s a giant flop? What if I can’t even complete it? Any large
goal can feel overwhelming, whether it concerns improving the qual-
ity of our relationships, fulfilling a life-long dream to travel the world,
or pursuing a more satisfying career. It may seem safer to prevent dis-
appointment by avoiding our desires altogether.
One of the best lessons I ever learned about moving forward in the
face of fear and possible rejection involved an exercise in which I was
told to pretend I had a big bowl of delicious cherries. Then I had to
offer these imaginary cherries to the person sitting next to me. This
person had been instructed to refuse the cherries no matter what. I
tried everything: I said I had grown the tree myself; no, she hated cher-
ries. If she’d take just one nibble I would do her laundry for a year; no,
she was deathly allergic to cherries; and finally, I told her they were
magic cherries that wouldn’t kill her and would grant her three wishes.
But she had the perfect answer to that, too—she didn’t believe in magic!
I began enjoying the act of offering the cherries itself. My persistence
and enthusiasm became increasingly more fun. Instead of her re-
senting me for continuing to offer her something she didn’t want, as I
feared she might, we ended up laughing. In the end, I still had my full
bowl of cherries. This is exactly the lesson of the exercise: When we
take risks, our efforts may at first face rejection and failure, but, at the
very worst, we’ll be where we started; ready and possibly stronger
when we try again.
Believing we can reach our goals can be challenging. It helps to ac-
knowledge our fears and recognize the deep wells of resiliency we
can dip into when we feel unsure. Reaching out for support is a sign
of strength. When we set out knowing we are strong enough to over-
come setbacks, we are saying “Yes,” to our desires. We crawl, then we
walk, and soon we arrive.

Intro to Acupuncturefor your Pets
Acupuncture is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tra-
ditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. It is an ancient art that dates
back over 8000 years to the Neolithic Period in China. Acupuncture
can be defined as the stimulation of a specific point on the body by a
specific method thus resulting in a specific homeostatic effect. The

“I have learned that paying attention to my thoughts is like develop-
ing photographs in the dark room. All parts of the picture need not
come into clear focus, they do not need my full attention, they are just
thoughts,” said a student at TAS.
Located in rural Bucks County, Tinicum Art and Science (TAS) has
been practicing meditation with adolescents in the Zen Buddhist tra-
dition for a over a decade. Disciplined training in the martial arts class,
Shim Gum Do, along with Yoga, develop the intuitive practice of mind-
fulness as well as count for gym credits. A delicious vegetarian lunch
is made fresh daily with locally sourced produce.
The curriculum at TAS emphasizes academic vigor focusing on ex-
perience, inquiry, and collaboration. Arts and academics are bal-
anced to encourage new perspectives. Students are exposed to sig-
nificant works of literature, philosophy, fine art, and history and asked
to examine why and how particular works interrelate and resonate.
TAS teachers are always available for conversation, inspiration, and
extra help. Small class sizes create opportunities for students to en-
gage in discussion and debate. All students are supported to keep up
with academic expectations. Gifted students are provided advanced
learning opportunities. Teachers encourage cross-disciplinary
projects where multiple courses merge.
Above all, community is valued. Students learn a great deal about how
people work together, solve problems, set goals, change, and grow.
They also learn to accept themselves, while finding and following what
inspires them.
Alumni stories are as unique as
the individuals who have at-
tended this innovative school.
Whether it is saving turtles in
Costa Rica, or operating steam lo-
comotives in New Hope; study-
ing graphic design at UArts, or hy-
droponics at Del Val; instructing
martial arts, or swing dancing
across the United States; starting
a school in Ecuador, or finishing a degree in Chemistry from Rutgers,
students from Tinicum Art and Science lead with mindfulness.

The Tai Chi Path... Part 1Two big questions were consuming me when I moved to San Fran-
cisco in 1973: Can I regain the health I am rapidly losing as a twenty-
something sedentary adult? And why can’t I sit still and meditate? I
hoped that studying “Kung Fu” would answer them both.
Settled in San Francisco, the phone book revealed many ads about
“building confidence, learning self-defense”, but the one that
grabbed me simply said, “Ancient art of White Crane Gung Fu. Em-
brace the immovable but ever-flowing Tao”. 18 months later, after
two hours a day, six days a week, cracked ribs, broken fingers, (not
great for a guitar player,) I had learned a lot about Chinese martial
arts, and it had reawakened an interest in the enigmatic art of “Tai
Chi”. Years before, I had seen grainy black and white fotos of a pecu-
liar looking Chinese master in the Whole Earth Catalog; “The Dance
Of Defense”, they called it. Interesting... Finally, I quit Gung Fu and
signed on with 83 year old Kuo Lien Ying, the city’s most illustrious
Tai Chi master (pictured). His classes met 365 days per year in
Chinatown at 5 a.m. Attendance was mandatory. “Old School”, you
might say.
This was my introduction to Tai Chi,
and I found that it satisfied several
needs for me: As a physical discipline,
it helped maintain a healthy body.
Done well, Tai Chi looks wonderfully
effortless, but I learned that “attaining
effortlessness requires effort.” Sec-
ond, I learned that Tai Chi was a form
of meditation that worked for me! It re-
quired a kind of emptying of the mind,
but that emptiness was not complete,
because one was mindful of the many
nuances of Tai Chi movement. So, instead of thinking of “no thing”,
you thought of “one thing”...and it wasn’t as boring as sitting medita-
tion, because you were moving and thinking about the imagery that
guided what you were doing.
With Master Kuo, I learned torturous standing meditation exercises
and the ancient Kwan Ping style of Tai Chi Chuan. In this patriarchal tra-
dition, it would have taken many years to be allowed access to the deep
essence of Tai Chi. For that, I’d need more open-hearted teachers, and I
set out to find them...tune in next issue! (See ads on page s 25 & 41)
Compassion Leads toHappiness - You Choose.
“Compassion leads to happiness,” says Michael Pritchard from the
movie HAPPY. Sounds simple. So why can it be so hard for us to do?
Life sometimes seems like a pressure
cooker as we deal with challenges and
stresses that take so much of our atten-
tion. We almost stop breathing...and miss
the beauty around us. My goal this year
is to stay present, and make a different
choice anytime I feel myself being judg-
mental, annoyed, or otherwise “trig-
gered” by the people and situations I am
around. This requires the awareness that
I am often not responding to what is hap-
pening right in front of me, but from the accumulation of my percep-
tions from the past that formed my view of the world. I know when I
shift the energy in my consciousness it impacts everyone else in-
volved in the drama and the story.
Energetic patterns are created in families and in fact across genera-
tions. Each person experiences his/her own hurts, pain, sadness, and
sometimes excruciatingly traumatic circumstances. Mix us all to-
gether and you get a lot of hurt people wanting to feel loved.

You can choose compassion, remembering that you can have com-
passion and still keep healthy boundaries. You can cease to allow the
past to have it’s hold and power over you. It may not be easy, but the
gift is that every day and every moment you get to choose again.
What will you choose, and who will you BE from this day forward?

Homeopathy:Safe Medicine During Pregnancy
Pregnancy can really change a
woman’s body. What an under-
statement! Often, we suffer through
symptoms that we would not oth-
erwise tolerate because we don’t
want to expose our developing
child to any drugs. I remember be-
ing a pediatric resident during my
first pregnancy. I felt nauseous
pretty much all day for several
months but life had to go on. When
I made morning rounds at the hos-
pital, the first thing I’d do when I entered each patient’s room was to
check where the trashcan was located, just in case I needed a recep-
tacle. It was all worth it in the end when my beautiful daughter was
born but in retrospect I sure wish I’d know about Homeopathy back
then. Homeopathy is very effective for common symptoms of preg-
nancy whether it’s morning sickness, heartburn, allergies, headaches,
constipation or rashes.
Probably the most common complaint of pregnant women I see in
my practice is “morning sickness.” Homeopathic treatment often puts
an end to this quickly. Mary consulted me about 8 weeks into her
second pregnancy. She had suffered with constant nausea and vom-
iting for 16 weeks during her first pregnancy and it looked like this
pregnancy was headed the same direction. There are a number of
possible remedies for “morning sickness” but Colchicum was the one
that best fit her profile as she was intensely sensitive to odors and the
vomiting was notably forceful and caused urinary incontinence.
Within several days of starting the remedy the symptoms resolved
and did not recur. Several years later, with her third pregnancy she
consulted me immediately when once again nausea and vomiting
began. This time we were able to halt the problem right away.
While Homeopathy has a long track record of safety during pregnancy
and delivery there are certain guidelines that should be followed. For
best results and safe use I suggest consulting with a homeopathic
practitioner. There is help available for symptoms such as migraine
headaches, allergies, rashes, itching and heartburn as well as for
problems during delivery and postpartum. What a joy it is to experi-
ence a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Homeopathy makes that
possible for a number of women.
