We did not come close to meeting our goal this Christmas, but we did receive about 20 toy donations to add to our Scribes Toyland! Thank You For the Toys For Tots Donations!

A “Thank You” to those who made a toy donation. We did not come close to meeting our goal this Christmas, but we did receive about 20 toy donations to add to our Scribes Toyland! For those of you who were able to give, we appreciate it and so does a deserving family this Christmas. Next year we will continue to shoot for our goal of one toy per family, so if you see something on sale think of us for next year.

Parent Reminders

Happy New Year! Please make note that the rate increase takes effect on January 1st.

Every family enrolled in a program effected by the rate increase received a personal notation of their new weekly tuition rate on their child’s cubby tag. If you have any questions about your new amounts owed, please stop in the office.

Children’s clothing boxes need updated. We need to make sure that the clothing is

always weather appropriate. Also, please check that the clothing is the appropriate size. Parents, please check your child’s cubby. A lot of them need decluttered and all of the

paperwork taken home. Also, if your child shares a cubby, please be mindful of their other cubby mate and keep your “things” to a minimum.

Kindergarten Korner

Our Kindergarten is ready to roar into the New Year! We are coming up on some very fun themes. First, we will look at the seasons-weather and all things related. Next, we dive into the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Another big event for us is the Informational Open House that is coming up. For any Pre-K parents who are looking at our Kindergarten as an option, this is the perfect time to meet all of the staff and find out exactly what we offer and how we stand out from other schools. Also, this is coming to the end of the second grading period. Report cards will be sent home the last full week of January. Wow, can you believe that we are halfway through the school year? This has been a wonderful year so far and we look forward to a great 2018! Finally, don’t forget, if you are looking toward summer camp, you need to turn in the pre-registration paperwork as soon as it comes out on February 19th!

School Age Shenanigans

OK folks, the New Year has arrived and with it a lot of fun activities for our school age kiddos! The dodgeball tournaments are finally here. The kids are all placed on teams and then game dates will be posted. Checkers tournaments begin as well. Please sign up in game room 1 if you would like to participate. Then, the Lego Club begins. The sign-up is in game room 1. Kids may bring in Lego creations from home or make them here. All Lego toys built or brought in will be displayed in the halls. We begin the Ready Readers this month also. Please sign up at the clipboard area. Finally, K.I.D.S. Club info sheets will go out soon This is a great mentoring program for our Kindergarteners and the school age kids who sign-up. Parents make a note that schools are closed on Jan.15th. We will have games and activities here though. Lastly, Summer Camp pre-registration goes out Feb. 19th. Don’t miss out, turn in the paperwork and save a spot!

The Spirit of Entrepreneurship

This section is for our enterprising families to let our Scribes family know what business may be of interest to them. We have a lot of amazing staff and parents that run side businesses, run their own business or work locally for a place that people may not know about or have not had the pleasure of using. If you would like to get the word out to all of the families here at the center, please write up a little something with your info and your work info and drop it off in the office. Each month I will feature a new business for all of our families to check out. If something we feature catches your eye, check it out and let us know what you think. I will print up a little anonymous blurb in this section letting others know what your experience was. The goal of this section is to support not only local businesses, but also to support our Scribes families.

Employee of The Month

This month, the Employee of the Month is our Room 4 Candyland Teacher Miss Melissa Cerinski! If you have not had the pleasure of your children being in Candyland, you are missing out on a great classroom. Miss Melissa has been at Scribes for 14 years and is not only an amazing teacher for our 2-year old’s, but she is also the curriculum coordinator for our 18-month – 3 ½ year old children. We could not be the great center we are without our amazing staff, and Miss Melissa is one of our best. She makes sure that the children all learn at their own pace and she does it in such a fun and engaging way that the kids don’t want to leave her room. Scribes has been blessed with 14 amazing years with Miss Melissa and we look forward to many more with her and her little ones! Congratulations, we love you.

Kids Say the Funniest Things

Over the past few years we have shared some great moments in this segment of our newsletter. Please do not hesitate to write down some of your personal moments that your kids, students or grandchildren have innocently shared.

We look forward to continuing this throughout the New Year. Help us, by writing down the funny things that you catch a child saying and drop it off in the office titled, “Kids Say the Funniest Things.” Everyone needs a good belly chuckle to keep healthy and sane, so consider this Scribes & Scribblers medicine for the soul.
