Houston, Texas., January 9-11, 2015 The NEB met on January 9-11 full of excitement and ready to “take care of busi-
ness”! The sorors of the Southern Region (Kay Rosebure, Director) and mem-
bers of the Houston Area Zeta Chapters
greeted board members and visiting sorors
with that good ‘ole Southern hospitality.
During Boule 2014, an amendment was
passed that requires the Board Chair to
share highlights of board meetings. This
newsletter will share noteworthy actions
taken.
Prior to the official start of the meeting, International Grand Basileus Mary
Breaux Wright, presented the official gavel to newly elected Board Chair Dr. Nell
Williams Ingram. Joining her in the presentations were past Board Chairs: T.
Diane Surgeon, Esquire; Jan Bivins, Esquire; Past Grand Basileus Jylla Moore
Tearte; and Valerie Hollingsworth.
Sorors were welcomed to Houston by Sorors Maxine Allen (Basileus, Omega
Delta Zeta), Tunesia Benard (Basileus, Lambda Zeta), Lisa Ware (Basileus, Omi-
cron Gamma Zeta), Brooke Sullivan (Basileus, Phi Epsilon), Gwendolyn Oquendo
(East Texas State Director) and Kay Rosebure (Southern Region Director).
Joining board members were over 200 visiting sorors. For two days, the board
deliberated on the business of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and left Houston on
Sunday morning with 100% of the agenda completed!

2014-2016 Executive Board
State Directors with

The following actions were taken by the board:
Approved the Zeta Organizational Leadership Program budget for 2015
Approved the 2015-2016 operating/programmatic budget
Approved the recommendation to establish the Centennial Commission as an Ad
Hoc (self-funding) committee of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, to lead
the Centennial, inclusive of all aspects of planning and execution. The term of
service for the Centennial Commission Chair, Dr. Jylla Moore Tearte, 20th Past
Grand Basileus, will be from date of appointment in 2013 to January 2021,
subject only to remove for cause by the Boule. Appointments to the Centen-
nial Commission will be made by the Centennial Commission Chair with
required approval from the then-current International Grand Basileus. All
expenditures of the Centennial Commission must be approved in advance by
the International Grand Basileus or the National Executive Board.
Received board member reports; several approved with commendations
Forwarded the opt-in affinity credit card program with MasterCard to legal coun-
sel and the financial officers; to be revisited
Approved the revised employees’ handbook

cating with the sisterhood through
interactive sessions so everyone can
remain informed, even those who
are incapacitated and home-bound
To provide online services, which
include the submission of new
member fees, and implement
online banking at national head-
quarters so we can operate more
efficiently by paying our bills online
The re-opening and enhancement
of “Finer Women Don’t Haze” Cam-
paign
To increase our financial member-
ship by 15%; this includes new
membership and reclamation

2020 CENTENNIAL LAUNCHED
Friday night after the board meeting was recessed, under the
direction of 2020 Commission Chair Jylla Moore Tearte,
sorors experienced an evening full of excitement as Zeta officially launched its
5-year countdown to 2020. The highlight of the evening was the issuance of
the official “Passport” which will allow each soror to chronicle her journey for
the next five years. If sorors weren’t excited before the
launch, they certainly left on a “Zeta high”, ready for
this journey.
