Japan/Australia Relationships

Japan is Australias second largest export market and the fifth largest importer and exporter,even though Japans largest exporters and importers are China and the USA. The main

exports from Japan include cars, electronic devices and computers, usually to China and the

USA. The main imports to Japan come from countries such as China, the USA, Germany,

France and the UK. The items that these countries export to Japan are both secondary and

primary such as both technology and livestock.

Security

Recently, Japans fear has been growing. It finds itself surrounded by a worsening security

environment as North Korea pushes forward with missile development. China and Russia,

also part of the activity, are also stepping up military activity. As a result, Japan has enforced

an alliance with the U.S. Japans Border Patrol, which is

the security of the coasts, is in charge of crimes on the

sea, smuggling and illegal immigration. Japan is also

serving in peace keeping as the Chair of Security Council

Working Group on Peace Keeping Operations since

2005. Australia does not do peace-keeping missions in

Japan.

HealthJapans infant mortality rate is quite high compared to Australia, being 2.4 per 1000 births.

The average life span in Japan is 83.1 years. Some common diseases include stroke,

Insomnia (An inability to sleep), Bronchitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane in the

bronchial tubes) and Influenza (a highly contagious viral infection causing fever and severe

aching). Though Japan has many common diseases, the hospital and medical care in Japan is

outstanding with a modern high quality medical system.

Employment and Average Wage in Japan

In Japan, the most popular occupations are being a teacher, a fisherman

and a manga writer. The average wage per month in Japan is about 357,

120 Japanese yen, the maximum wage is 716, 170 yen and the

minimum wage is about 22, 000 yen.

Japan has many main attractions such as the Tokyo Tower, Mount Fuji, ancient shrines,

temples or palaces and Japanese festivals. The city which attracts the most tourists in Japan

is Kyoto, with around thirty million annually. Kyoto is one of the most popular destinations

for fall foliage in Japan. There are many magnificent spots andmost of them are lit up at night. Kyoto also offers good

traditional accommodation each year, Japan makes around 8.3

million dollars on tourism.

Japan is an interesting and rich country with modern technology, ancient culture and

popular tourist sites.
