This will be a presentation about Japanese geography.

Japan’s Geography

Japan is a archipelago located in East Asia, it is found between the North Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. To be more clear, Japan is north-east from China, and east of Korea.

Japan is made up of many islands. The main four are the Hokkaido,Honshu,Shikoku and Kyushu, but there are around 3000 smaller ones. Not all of them are habitet.

Its land is stratovolcanic.

To understand this presentation, you have to know what is geography. Well, geography is a study of Earth, its land,features and inhabitants. Every country has got its own geography. There are many types of geography, most of them connected with science. Geographical features are for

example mountains or rivers.

Rivers

What are rivers?

Rivers are bodies of water which flow into a larger body of water like oceans or seas. Rivers may dry just before falling into the other body of water, but some of them just directly flow into the ocean,sea. Rivers are usually called names. Largest Japanese rivers are: Shinano River, Tone River, and Kitakami River.

How are rivers made?

• Many people might have given themselves this question.

• To find the answer to this question, we have to think about it.

• When it is raining the water forms itself a path through which it falls.

• When there is another rain, this water goes through the bed which was formed earlier.

• Throughout time, the bed gets deeper, and it is easier for the later rains to go through it.

Japanese River Pollution

River pollution is very unhealthy for organisms today. There are much more dead fish, which just cant stand swimming in such polluted water. Rivers are polluted because of the chemicals which flow into them from the fabrics. This is a picture of a pollution in the Go Dau port in Japan.

Mountains

What are mountains?? A mountain is a landform which is streched above the land, usually to look like a peak. Mountains are bigger, and steeper than hills. In Japan the most famous is Mount Fuji, which is now visited by a lot of people. Each of Japanese mountains is covered with breathtaking natural features. The highest mountains are located in Honshu, a part of Japan. At the right we can see a beautiful picture of Mount Fuji.

How are mountains made?

• Underneath the ground, deep,deep down, we can find tectonic plates.

• When the tectonic plates move it causes earthquakes.

• The continents which are located on the tectonic plates, drift on the ocean, they hit with each other.

• After this collision the tectonic plates crash, and crack and slide, until they find their own places, which usually causes in forming a mountain.

Volcanoes

What are volcanoes?

A volcanoe is a opening in Earths land, which lets gases, rocks and ash to escape from beneath the surface. Usually, after some period of time, a volcanoe becomes extinct, which means the gases etc.etc. dont escpae through it, and soon it becomes a mountain. The „thing” the volcanoe shoots out is called lava, or magma. Magma is molten rock found beneath the surface. On the right we can see some mmost active volcanoes in Japan.

Danger Of Volcanoes

• The simplest way to tell what are the danger of volcanoes are:

• The lava, which gets out of the volcanoe, is really, really hot, and it can burn people.

• This is not it.• The ash,dust and gases, left after the eruption

can cause breathing problems and they damage water and crops.

After watching this presentation, now, you know what dangerous, and beautiful things you might find it Japan. Also, you may say that now you truly know how mountains or rivers are made.
