Learning Objectives:Students will create visual media illustrating the relevance of various landmarks located across the United States in terms of their significance to U.S. history.Students will outline the importance of the relationship between various individuals/groups and historical landmark for which theyare associated.Students will produce examples of the impact of various aspects of American society that include, but are not limited to: belief systems and religions, commerce and industry, technology, politics and government, physical and human geography, and socialorganizations.Students will differentiate between facts and opinions of historical events when researching multiple knowledge sources. (Internetpublications, magazines, newspaper articles, video documentaries, etc.)Students will utilize proper citing methods for both primary and secondary sources when researching historical information.

Goals, Technology, Media, and MaterialsLesson Goals:

Illustrate the importance of historical locations across the United States as they apply to current American societyand culture.

The use of technology throughout this project will offer relevant applications of the material covered while strivingto prepare students to become well rounded, educationally equipped members of society. Specifically, studentswill reach this goal by:

Creating brochures using Microsoft Publisher that detail historical landmarks located across the UnitedStates.Developing a virtual tour with Google Maps that focuses on each student’s individually planned historicalroute and establishes the necessary research to complete other assignments of this project.Establishing the essential knowledge base needed to satisfy the requirements of the project using the

SMART Response PE Interactive Response System in the form of an interactive game called Click to Win:United States History.Collaborating to produce a group based history documentary which highlights various historical locationsacross the United States while integrating multimedia elements including video cameras, digital cameras,audio, graphics and video clips.Mastering the final assessment of United States history by defending their answers on the Electronic UnitedStates History Exam.
